    Great video. I would add that water bottles cages that allow you to put the bottles in and out from the side are quite essential when using frame bags.

      The Wolftooth Morse Cage is a good choice for some frames because the extra holes allow you to mount the cage lower, leaving more room to get the bottles in and out: www.wolftoothcomponents.com/products/morse-cage

      Lezyne Flow SL cages are a great value IMO. Pair of them for $24 and they hold well while being easy to get your bottle in and out.

      @@paulpoletes6341 yes, it's a nice design (something I actually have been searching for, in vain until now), but you still can't get the bottle out from the sides.

    Today I bought the "PRO GRAVEL DISCOVER" Framebag (5.5 liter). I have a 58cm Pinarello roadbike, so it will fit perfectly even with some spare space to put the bidon in the holder. I will use it for camera equipment (MFT camera, lens, tripod, batteries and memorycards), biketools, Esbit burner + metal cup, food, wallet and to store a raincoat mainly. Not sure if it will fit when the bag arrives but I will eventually also order a top frame bag as well and move the phone and food into that bag eventually.

    I have a medium Revelate Tangle, and it fits perfectly on all my size-56 bikes. I can still fit two water bottles under the bag, and I'm amazed at how much stuff I can fit into the Tangle. On longer trips, I will put a largeish power bank in the Tangle, then run a cord from the battery to my Sinewave Beacon light/USB charger. I also keep a Lezyne Micro Floor Drive pump in the bag, along with food and tools. When mounted on the bike, the left side of the bag is a great place for flatter items like the battery, credit cards, a spoon, zip ties, etc. The right side has the larger compartment, and that's where I keep bulkier items.

    I've been using the larger half frame bag from Jandd. They've been around awhile and their stuff is pretty basic but it seems pretty tough. It's not flashy, and kind of looks like it was made in the 90s which is cool in a way. Could fit a larger one though.

My bar bag takes the maps, sections of G-maps I expand and print off in sections, supple laminates protect them and placed in a waterproof wallet.

      Interesting, I think a lot of that has to do with A. q-factor B. the bags width and how much you stuff in it and finally B. your legs. I've had some rub with some bags, especially on the first day of a bikepacking trip with a packed bag, but I typically don't have that issue.

  • @marcellopacifici
    @marcellopacifici 3 года назад +1

    Hi there! I noticed that most of the bags you speak about are not 100% waterproof but only water resistent. Isn't it an issue fo you? Do you ride in dry climates only or a water resistant bag is fine for anything but a monsoon rain, which most of the leisure cyclists won't ride in anyway? I apologize if the question is numb. I'm asking because I don't own a frame bag yet. Maybe I'm just a bit too worried about water! :)

    • @BIKEPACKINGcom
      @BIKEPACKINGcom  3 года назад +2

      I often ride in very moist conditions, but the problem here is that most of the frame bags made are simply not waterproof. They have zippers, so when submerged, water penetrates, and most are not seam-sealed. I typically don't carry gear that can't get wet in my frame bag for that reason. That being said, if you are looking for a waterproof frame bag, look for a bag that has some sort of welded seams, so no stitching and one that has a roll-top closure. The one that I can think of is the new Ortlieb Frame-Pack

    The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.
