- Noir Alley - Out of the Past (1947) intro 20220605 by Eddie Muller shown on June 5, 2022
From TCM's Noir Alley (Saturdays at Midnight ET and Sunday 10am ET) hosted by the Czar of Noir, Eddie Muller.
Eddie's framing of the picture is pure delight. I am shocked how young Douglas, Mitchum and Greer were at that time. Well, it was '47 after all, 9 years before I was born. Thank you!
Always a pleasure!
Incredible movie for all time!👍🙂🇺🇸❤️
one of the best film noirs
Love the lake house in this movie and of course the film itself. This was the first noir I saw and I remember how unsettled I felt at the ending
one of my 7 all time favorite noirs. A masterpiece, really,.
What are your others? As far as I've seen, this is the noir-iest noir of them all.
@@Luxington1 Vertigo, Touch of Evil, Kiss Me Deadly, The Lineup, White Heat and Shoot the Piano Player.
@@willieluncheonette5843 I never thought of Vertigo as a noir movie, but it's definitely something incredible. I've seen Touch of Evil and White Heat, but I'll have to check out the others.
If you haven't already, I'd recommend seeing The Big Heat, the Big Combo, Force of Evil, Stranger on the Third Floor, The Third Man, and Night of the Hunter. I think these are the best of the genre.
This movie is so good im surprised it hasnt been remade. Really nothing quite like this noir.
In fact it was remade as 'Against All Odds (1984)'.

Which, was not such a smart move.......@@NoirFan77
With Jeff Bridges, I believe. I like him, but he's not Mitchum.
The best American film noir, Out of the Past, was directed by a Frenchman. Arguably the best French film noir, Rififi, was directed by an American, Jules Dassin.
Thanks Eddy legend status
Who did the musical score for Out of the Past. ? A catchy and interesting romantic tune that seems to resonate well throughout this iconic film noir.
C. Bakaleinikoff was the Music Director. Not sure that's a definitive answer to who actually wrote the score. Hmm. On IMDB it says the music was by Roy Webb.
@@NoirFan77it was Roy Webb. He also scored many of Val Lewtons classic low budget horror flicks at RKO during the 40's prior to this film.
Roy Webb.
This is the noir-iest noir I've seen.
Get out, i gotta sleep in here.
I am really surprised that he doubled crossed her
