- You all know we love travelling in our self converted camper van, so we decided to take our motorhome to the little town of Chemainus, stinting in the Cowichan Valley, while we explored Vancouver Island.
Chemainus is a picturesque town in British Columbia, known for its vibrant outdoor murals that depict the area's rich history and culture. Established as a logging town in the 1850s, Chemainus revitalized its economy in the 1980s by transforming into an artistic and tourist destination. The town features over 40 murals, various sculptures, and a thriving arts community. Chemainus can be considered an open art gallery of BC and visitors can enjoy its scenic coastal beauty, historical sites, and local shops. Beautiful town and beautiful area, it's nice to spend 2 weeks on Vancouver Island and catch all the gems the island has to offer
