I still think the Artists clearly won, but to truly appreciate how clever the lines in especially the Turtles' first verse were, you need to know a bit about the Artists they were based on, and their works. Plus it's all a series of "blink and you'll miss it moments", making it even harder to catch them (meaning I don't at all blame you, or anyone else for that matter, for missing this).
But you see, each of the Turtles takes the Artist they were named after, and references one of that Artist's most famous works, making fun of that work in the process.
Here they are:
• Leonardo: "Hop in your floppy helicopter, fly away!" - Da Vinci's helicopter design.
• Michelangelo: "I'm a pristine Sistine nun-chucka." - the Sistine Chapel (much of which was painted by Michelangelo).
• Raphael: "Put you back in school with the tips of my two sai." - The School of Athens (by Raphael).
• Donatello: "Because I don't Gattamelata clue what you do." - the Equestrian Statue of Gattamelata (by Donatello, obvs.).
We for Leonardo and Michelangelo and just figured Donatellos was a reference as well, but didn’t know about the Raphael one and what it was referencing. Admittedly Raphael and Donatello are the two artists we know the least about 🤗

(The opening theme song from the 1980's TMNT cartoon states, "Raphael is cool but rude". Raphael says he is a cool and rude guy.)
(One of Raphael Sanzio de Urbino's most famous frescos is "The School of Athens", in which Raphael also painted himself in the background. The sai are Raphael's weapons of choice. He is also saying that the artists are no longer talked about in schools, and possibly that they would be if their deaths were caused by the Turtles.)
And for Donatello:
(Of the four artists, Donatello Bardi is fairly less well known, with many younger people only knowing him because of his Ninja Turtle counterpart. Donatello doesn't know who his namesake is, thus creating a pun on "Donatello" and "tell". Meanwhile, Donatello is known as being the smartest of the four turtles, so here, even the smartest of them doesn't know who Donatello Bardi is to show how unknown and obscure the artist is.)
(Continuing how he has no idea who Donatello is, Donatello is best-known for making a statue of "Gattamelata" riding a horse, and the line is a pun on "got a lot of a". Also, considering that Donatello knows "Gattamelata", he's just stating that Donatello is too obscure for the turtle to know or remember.)
I remember when this came out 8 years ago, kid me was so excited because it was the first time I had ever seen Rhett & Link and Smosh together (The YTubers playing the artists) and they were my favorites to watch back then. Now in the modern day, Rhett and Link's company literally owns Smosh, it's kinda crazy

Has anyone else realised that barely any disses are actually thrown in this battle?
Artists:
Turtles are gross.
Turtles live in sewer.
Turtles are “uncultured”.
TMNT NES game is impossibly hard.
TMNT:
Leonardo’s (Artist) failed Helicopter device.
Donatello (Artist) being not well known compared to the other artists.
Artists draw Penises a lot.
That’s it.
Aside from those disses, most of this battle is just filler lines.
I’m honestly surprised given these characters have such a rich history.
Still, this battle is fun to groove to.
The Donatello line is also a pun.

Yeah there weren’t a ton of disses thrown in this one. It’s was more just of a fun one then a savage one 🙂

OMG ! I remember watch and put in loop so many days after , one of my Top 10 ERB.
Favorite battle as far as production value. Rhett and Link PLUS Ian and Anthony from Smosh. And the costumes and stuntman for the turtles were amazing.
I’ve always loved the ERBs back in the day like this one. They would get fellow RUclipsrs involved. Like the artists were Rhett and Link/Anthony and Ian from Smosh.
Rasputin vs Stalin & Stephen Spielberg vs Alfred Hitchcock ERBs are a must.
And Ghostbusters vs Mythbusters.
Great choice! TMNT are awesome, and for a long time I wondered how they got their names. I did some research and eventually found out about the Renaissance guys.

This is one I wished ERB would remake from scratch. This one has the potential to be a trilogy like the Hitler vs Vader one.
I would like these ERB reactions to be more frequent. Maybe at least once every 2 weeks?

this one had a lot of potential. i don't know what kind of time crunch they were on but there's 8 damn contestants and it's one of the shorter battles
The Artists may have won overall but the Turtles had one of the best disses.
Which is one of the rare cases where the best diss doesn’t equal automatic win 🤔
I just remembered a great one, Dr Sue's vs Shakespeare.
The Turtles NeS game really is hard to beat. I usually bring out my old Nintendo-8bit to try and beat it on a regular yearly basis. That one and Ghost's & Ghoblins.

Santa Vs Moses is a must watch Mr T vs Mr Roger's and Shakespeare vs Dr Sue's are two my favorites.
This is one of the most unbalanced ERBs ever made, because it feels like the people who wrote it did next to no research on the Ninja Turtles at all. Like, they've traveled to space, fought and defeated alien invasions, traveled to other dimensions to fight in marital arts tournaments, and a whole lot more. And that's all from just one of the television series. It feels like the writers for this one had some surface level knowledge about them at most.
Wouldn't be the first time.

P.s could I please make a request for you to react to 'DC Showcase : Death' it's a short film from DC and honestly it's more beautiful then you'd think , though as a struggling artist it hits my harder then most but it's beautiful nonetheless :')

Donatello and Leonardo on the artists side is Rhett and Link from GMM
While I enoyed this (Rhett & Link are awesome) I can't help but feel like the one who wrote the TMNT part wasn't really a fan... either you watched any of the cartoons, movies or read the comics you know how they stopped interdimensional terrors like Kraang and his Technodrome or Saanti Romero or the Triceratons or won pandimensional fighting turnaments, but there... it's just... maybe the writer watched the opening of the cartoon from the '80s... once?
I think it's the opposite. I think the ERB guys are definitely TMNT fans, and suspected their audience would be too, while said audience wouldn't care too much about the Artists initially. So I think they felt they needed to compensate for the possible inherent bias in favour of the Turtles, by giving the Artists the better bars.
@@AhsimNreiziev That doesn't make any sense: since you are a fan and suspect that the audience members are fans too... you give them vague and unimaignative lines?
