I got my first M60 at level 7. Ran into the Goons on Customs trying to get out at RUAF and the pipeman had it on him. Was the most clencher of a raid I have ever had.
as a FN MAG operator in the IDF who also carry 400 ammo on me(and 2-3 dude carrying extra ammo in my platoon), a spare barrel, water, ceramic plate IV/III, and other stuff I need... 40 kg is like the usual carry weight for me, and man it sucks really.... especially when you need to run in almost sprint 500 meter... just from that I'm like dead where sometime my mate need to help me carry the mag(fn mag) to go faster....
and I'm not that strong (my back/shoulder are strong) but my arm hell man not much...
good that most of the strength need to be in my legs/back/shoulder for that, then for recoil it's mostly about position and knowledge.

also, the m60e6 is very light for a medium machine gun. not as light as the PKM, but still very light.
cant rack an open bolt gun because when its cocked the bolt is back waiting to slam forward to fire the round
