This is a definition of true real raw review/típ/secrets of tourist country! Thank you so much for thêse típ!! Thank you for not gatekeeping and help people save
Specially if you go on sandals, to any nationak park in CR, don't get out of the trail, for your personal safety. We have got snakes in Costa Rica, and Terciopelo Snake usually hides below the fallen leaves. Terciopelo is not afraid of humans, and has one of the worst poisoned bites in CR. My advice as costarican and national parks lover.
Another option to buy tickets is through SINAC website, SINAC is an agency of Costa Rica's Environment Ministry (MINAE), in charge of our conservation areas.
Not supposed to go off the designated trail because foot traffic can destroy the creatures/plants homes and the natural ecology of the jungle floor. We want to preserve the natural ecology for others that also want to also enjoy it in the future.
You don't need a guide, but they are still worth it. I've done rainforest tours with and without guides, and even though I find things on my own, guides always show a shocking amount of things that I easily would have missed. Also, you don't need shoes, but they are still worth it, especially for the protection factor.
That was definitely helpful and gives me a better idea of what I'll see next week. I get off the beaten trail (figuratively and literally) often when I travel, too.
DO NOT go out of the trail!!!! We have a shit ton of venomous snakes, most of them in the pacific and as Andres said... the Terciopelo has one of the most dangerous venom in Central America, whatever the snake bites you will loose it. So don't go out of the trail, besides that.. the park is an amazing place to visit!! The beaches are amazing and us Costa Ricans are very friendly so if you need something don't hesitate to ask, just make sure the guy you are asking doesn't have like jail tattoos or looks sketchy, try to ask questions to the young people that are not as tanned as everyone else that may seem local.
The sandal part is for the snakes if you venture out and food is allowed, they just don't accept food that is in a plastic container, there's zero plastic allowed in the park so put the food in a recycled paper container , all the cutlery should be recycled and bring the water in a water bottle
Mostly they say don't leave the trails, because there are Tarantulas spiders living on the ground. I learned this in Guatemala. Where the guide picked up the spider . Its legs were as big as my fingers. Do not step on them.
This is not great advice. The most concerning is the idea of sneaking in snacks. Please don’t do this. I know we do it in US theaters, but that’s entirely different. They are trying to preserve nature. Just don’t. It’s very hard to spot many animals without a guide. I choose not to on my last trip because I had seen a few sloths and other animals I wanted to see in La Fortuna and just wanted to go at my own pace, but I don’t think that you should tell people they will see more without a guide because that is absolutely not true. Please be responsible when giving advice.
Stay away from costa Lotta.. It might be beautiful in mother nature but everything else is terrible. Food sucks, everything is over priced by atlest 200% Think about it paying a bottle of water for 4.00???? Skip this over priced country and head to everywhere but.
