    @StitchMethod Guitar I know this is a Jerry video, but if you listen to how Admiral Johnny Salami is playing the solos with D&C, he alternates between playing chord tones and scales like you're showing here, but he also plays straight D minor pentatonic, which adds a bit of a push / pull....

    • @StichMethodGuitar
      @StichMethodGuitar  3 года назад +2

      Yeah Mayer adds D minor but that is his thing as he is a Blues Player. He literally adds minor pentatonic over every jam. My friends call it “Unnecessary Bluesing”😬

      @@StichMethodGuitar Could we get a deep dive on how Mayer and Jerry both approach something? Perhaps "Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad" or "I Know You Rider?" It would be particularly interesting to do "IKYR" since it's pretty much the ""Morning Dew" changes, but they both add so much color.

    Just realized something else...you were playing the E minor scale while you were talking about playing the G Major scale, but of course E is the relative minor of G Major and also the same as the D mixolydian. Just depends on the chords you are playing over.

    Great video! I just have one question. I feel there is one elephant in the room that is sort of avoided in this video which is that the song is clearly in D! But since we include the b7 (c) major chord, it adds a Mixolydian feel. In other words, d major but with a flat 7. Yes this is also the same as G major. Some people say “play g major but start on D as your home”. But it might be a little confusing to just right out say the songs in G when it so clearly resolves to C.
    Why choose to present it as G major instead of just D major with a flat 7?

    • @StichMethodGuitar
      @StichMethodGuitar  2 года назад

      Because that is not what a key is…. Watch my square of Stich video or my what is a key video. The starting chord or resolve is not a key. All of the chords come from the harmonized major scale of G and the Scale he uses is a G. To say 1 b7 is just a way people tried to explain a 541 progression

    • @StichMethodGuitar
      @StichMethodGuitar  2 года назад

      I don’t mean to sound rude, but you can also watch my sweet home Alabama video. This song is NOT clearly on D. Whoever you are studying from is going to cause a lot of stress for you when it comes to soloing and Melodies. The song IS clearly in G. The proper key signature would have 1 sharp, indicating key of G, now with that being said, this is a D mixolydian progression. Watch my modes videos and also my Bob weir video.
