Easy to use right out the box ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAvrAfikbUEMthp3AZ6iX5FKdiHfzy_RP . Next step is to get a heat activated fan to move the heat. I'm impressed by how long it can go on 1 lbs of propane at the low setting which lasted more than 6hrs. You'll have to adjust it lower than the low setting. Used for personal heating at 30° to 50° at low setting in an open garage, it's quite comfortable. It would warm up a good size single car garage if its closed off.
Great review I bought the same one at Menards $89.00 0n sale use it to supplement my Natural gas unit in my garage.Works great.
That's a good deal. Menards has a nice selection of Mr Heater products.
Start watching at 6:00 minutes...
Not all heros wear capes my guy I appreciate
Stop bitching @ now!
Great vid. Got one and love it. 3 car insulated garage in Michigan heats to 60 in no time. I have a Carbon dioxide detector and it's yet to go off. I've burned it for 5 hours on low and no Carbon dioxide issues at all.
Great idea, I need to get one for the garage. Thanks!
Dam you tube , lol
Did you mean carbon monoxide? Big difference.
He died ten months ago
Why do you have to pug it into the socket?
I heat my insulated 30x50 pole building with the Mr. Heater 75-125 model. I open a window a few inches on each side of the building. The fan noise doesn't bother me. It heats my 1500 sq ft shop up in a few minutes, I'm in Indiana. Hoping for long service life out of the heater. Thanks for the vid.
That's great that the heater keeps up in such a big space. I like the idea that you're getting some cross ventilation in there too.
How long does it last with one 20lb propane tank? I have a man cave in my 3 car garage with a pool table, darts etc. And a gym on other side:). DO u think this will be good for my case or just go with an electric 240v heater or a Mr cool minisplit which has both ac/heating but a lot more expensive $1600
Thanks for the great review. The 38,000 was on sale for $100 but after watching this video I decided to get the 30,00 to 60,000 BTU on sale $150.00 Canadian. I have a 400 sq.ft. well insulated attached garage and it heats from 7 deg. Cel. to 22 deg. in 1/2 hour. Very happy with it.
You're welcome! I think this heated is the perfect size to quickly warm things up.
where'd you find it for $150? cheapest I can find on sale is $169
@@rodhurst5831 Princess Auto was having a sale and demo day on heaters. They had the 38,000 on for $100 so I watch the demo and talked to the guy for 10 minutes I said I really want the 30,000 to 60,000 and if you drop the price to 150. I will take it right now. We went in side and he check on the computer and said he could give it to me for the last sale price $169. so I said ok thanks for your help and time but I'll have to wait. As I turned around he said wait ok $149.99.
@@BearE9090 ya I really wanted the 30-60 also but I'm a cheap ass, I bought the 38,000 for 99.99 at TSC. thanks.
Nice video. I bought the same one back in 2014 from Menards for $89 to heat our garage. I love it. It heats our two and a half car garage nicely. I normally run it for about 5 yrs. At around 40,000 BTU. I use a CO detector and have the windows cracked for ventilation.
Thanks, that's great advice.
how much you need to have the garage door open? that's the part the concerns me the CO2
I usually have one vent window open. I have a CO detector in the garage, and it's never picked up any CO in the garage.
Propane and CO2 collects at the floor. @@Pk3_Garage
Good review. I laugh because your old propene heater did the same thing as my old one. I had a clamp on it to keep it burning but didn't want to leave it for long. The quieter banner drew my same attention. Your review and shop size are about the same as mine. I bought my heater last night at Minards for 123.00. Great heat for the garage. A cheap carbonmonixed alarm is a good idea. I will pick one up and post it in the shop. I have one with my Mr. Buddy tent heaters but it has never gone off those burn so efficiently. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the advice on the alarm. I'm going to get one and test it out.
I just bought one today just have one quick question is the igniter supposed to continuously fire the whole time its running? My old contractor series had a push button igniter so I wasn't sure
@@douglasdodson9485 I can't remember. Seems like it fires when plugged in. It's stored away for now. I need to get it back out. It's getting cold outside!
Yup it's continuous ignition when it is plugged in. I just fired it up and it says in on the box as well.
@@MarkJonesRanger Ok thank you I wasn't sure on the box mine came in it didn't say just thought it was a little odd
Will definitely buy one for my garage. Thanks for the informative video.
Thanks man, you bet!
Just bought the craftsman version of this heater. It’s $99 at Lowe’s. It actually said mr. heater on the box. Looks exactly like this one. Works great
Oh wow, this must be the first year for the Craftsman name on it.
Cool! I dig it. When I had a pole barn I used a torpedo. I think that's what it was. And way back when for my three car garage I had an old wood burning stove.
I've used a kerosene torpedo heater before, but the fumes seem strong compared to the propane one.
Thank you! This will allow me to not have to attach myself to the tank like the old single heater mount on top. My fun little garage will likely get more use if I can get it warmed up. ✌️👍🥶😅🙏
This heater will quickly heat your garage. Once you heat some items inside your garage, you can shut it off for awhile, which is nice.
Love your channel. Great review.
John Harrison thanks so much! 👍
there's a few vids about how these perform in a garage.
but what about outdoors?
Thank you. This was a great help!
You're welcome! This heater really comes in handy.
Excellent! I have a two car garage non insulated. Outside temp. at 20F, This thing brings the inside temp. from 38f to 65 in 30 minutes! You have to pay for propane, but really worth what it can do, and fast on high speed.
I like running it for 30 minutes on high speed to take the chill out of the air and warm np the things in the garage.
I just bought one. About to try it out. Have I non-insulated block building with low ceilings. Front is insulated and partitioned off. Plan to use to bring the temp up then shut off and use my radiant heater. Just getting by for this winter. 10° here.
How long will it run on a 20lb propane tank?
When the sparker is should there be an electric current flowing the whole time since the heater is plugged in? Not sure whenever I plug it in I see an electric current constantly on
We purchased the 75-125k BTU Mr Heater for our cabin until the wood stove gives off enough heat. It works great. It only takes a few minute to get the living room warm.
That's great! Wood stoves are great, but they definitely take time to heat up.
Hi i live in a Cabin too are they noisy on low?
not good for living spaces Get an oil heater with no CO2 and moisture. @@SnikB
Bought one 30k - 60k for 24x32 w 10 ft ceiling that is bubble wrapped, 2 @ 8x7 insulated garage doors and one walkin door. South Central KY winter temps now 35 to 45 and to get inside up to 55 to 60 takes 45 to 60 min on 30k (low ) setting. Point heater at the area I am working to immediately get working comfortably. Plan to R13 all walls and blow in attic at R38 which should decrease heat loss. Even though bubble wrap is only rated R1 the ability to reduce air leaks still makes working there more enjoyable. 20 lb. cylinder exchange cost me $19.05 and refills two dollars less. I like the heater.
I use this heater all the time to warm my entire garage up. I agree that you can point it towards where you're working to start immediately. I also have the Big Buddy Heater hooked up to a 20lb tank to maintain the heat (quietly) when I shut off this one off.
I just bought one of these Mr. Heater 30K-60k BTU on Sale for $119 and I like it. Diffinetly Quiter. My Insulated Garage is only 24ft x 28ft. My only CON is my Old Dyno Glo was a variable 30k-40k-50k Heater. Never had to go Higher than 40k. On the Dyna Glo, you started it at 30k setting and when the Knob comes out, it allowed you to turn it up or down even lower than 30K. I like to keep it at 38-40F in the Winter, I have a lot of Tools. We could turn the Flame down to about 3.0 inches on the coldest days and keep it in that range. A 20 lb bottle would last about 34-36hrs so I'm guessing it was around 16-18k BTU on that lowest setting. So I'm wondering if the Mr. Heater could be adapted to do the same thing.
A heat reading on the outside of that barrel would have been good.....where to set it or how close things can be to it I would have thought might have been a concern..
i've been using propane heaters like the one in the video and never had a carbon monoxide detector go off even when using one in an unvented garage for 10+ hours. the only thing they emit is lots of water vapor which can be a major condensation issue in an uninsulated structure. the one i have now is a reddy heater 35K btu, about 20 years old and still works perfect.
Thanks, good to know that. I've always wanted to test it with a carbon monoxide detector.
Your info helped a lot. I have a 420 sq ft insulated attached garage and now I think I am going to get this heater for it
It's very handy for heating the garage. I'm glad I bought it.
that's a lot of heater for a 420 sq ft insulated attached garage. And if insulated, doubt you have any kind of venting. Be careful ! your gonna get higher than a kite ! I run a 125 in a 26' x 26', works great. But with open roof and soffit vents. I'll still get a head-ache 3 hrs into it.
jadamec We have a dog door at one end that is open and our garage door is not sealed good. I should have enough ventalation. I will also get a carbon monoxide detector
jadamec one question. Did you put any kind of tape around the threads on your connections
@@ronaldmead7643 not needed on the tank side. Unit side, don't remember. If required in dirx, I did it. no big deal.
Loved the regulators reference!! Mount up!!
Right on!
Great video though, I have one for other things and they work nicely
Thanks for posting!
I like your video of the propane heater I brought same brand but the next size up just stop to see how it works have not had the chance to take it out of box take care
This really is a great heater. I'm sure you'll like the bigger unit as well.
Do you need a special adapter for hose to the propane tank?
Good video. I have one of these and use it to heat my shop - 16' x 24' (384 sq ft) and/or my 24' x 32' garage (768 sq ft). My shop has no insulation (nor does my garage for that matter), so when it's cold outside, my heater runs pretty constantly. I have a CO alarm mounted at 5 feet, and have had multiple instances where the alarm will go off. I can't smell hardly anything, so I can't rely upon my nose to tell me what's happening... so when the CO alarm goes off, I turn off the heater and step outside or go do something else.
I also have a Mr. Heater Big Buddy. I don't have any issues with my Big Buddy triggering my CO alarm; it's a little slower to warm the shop, but I think there's less CO to deal with, and I have yet to get chased out of the shop by the CO alarm.
Thanks, that's a good idea. I've thought about getting an alarm for my garage. I'll have to put it on my list to do. It's better to be safe than sorry!
Mark have you ever noticed random sparks here and there coming out? I'd love to have one in my (old and very dry/dusty garage but I'm nervous it may start something on fire. Obviously I would only run it while im in there due to having a small garage but that thought has been stopping me from doing that. It's about 20-25 feet deep and about 10 feet wide. Cleaned it out good this week plan on using it as a small shop for my 2 yfz 450 quads
I haven't noticed any random sparks on this one. I think I have on my older kerosene heaters once in awhile, but don't know the cause of it. When it's running out of fuel on the kerosene heater, it sometimes flames up a little. I now only run LP heaters.
Purchased the MrHeater 30-60K BTU...any concern with the emanating heat damaging my professional epoxy floor finish? When running this unit, did your garage get warm to the touch? Thanks, great video!
The heater doesn't point anything downward, so your floor is safe from heat damage. The tools and items in my garage warm up a little and help with the keep the temperature comfortable.
Disregard my question below. You answered the ventilation question. Thanks for Vid!
Glad it helped, thanks!
Just watched a video on the Mr. Heater but it was a 75K - 125K BTU he was using for a 2 car garage. Is 30K to 60K really enough? What I didn't like about the 75K one was how loud it was. Do you find this one loud?
I use the heater to warm my 28x28 garage while making videos. It normally takes about 15 minutes so you don't see my breath from the cold air. I'm happy with the noise level. It's much quieter than my old kerosene salamander heater, but too loud to film a video with it running. The Big Buddy Heater works well if you need to heat a small area without any noise. My video from a few months ago with Brian's Lawn Maintenance shows us talking with the Big Buddy Heater in the background, keeping the garage a comfortable temp. Hope that helps!
Your old one just needed a new thermocouple. You were running it off of pilot, that's why you had to clamp the valve in, and why main valve didn't open.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if this one ever does the same thing.
My shop has a heat pump but no strips. When it gets below 35 it doesn't work well. I have a torpedo kerosene heater but don't like the fumes, also a Mr Heater propane tank mount heater which is my go to but it doesn't look like it performs as well as the one in the video. In 2021 these heaters are now $160. Thanks for sharing.
I'm using this exact heater right now. I run it for a bit on high, then shut it on and off on low. The fumes are very minimal compared to the kerosene. I even have a co2 detector and it's never gone off after running the heater for 45mins.
Great review and video. I have a 28x28 insulated second garage for my truck. My wife wants a ping pong table in there for the kids so wanted something to Lee it warm. I have the smaller mr buddy heaters but would be nice to warm it up first and then maybe use those to maintain. Any concerns about keeping the tank inside the garage? And fumes seem to not be an issue but will get a CO2 sensor out there. Anticipating another fun Wisconsin winter! Thanks.
I run this to heat things up in my 28x28 garage. I use the Big Buddy to maintain and the fumes seem okay. I often have a little cross ventilation going to be safe. I still need to put a Co2 detector in there.
markthomasbuilder thanks for the reply. I was wondering if that is best. I will get a detector out there and may upgrade my buddy mr heater for the big buddy. Thank!
I'm actually using this featured 30k-60k model heater while watching your vid 🔥. I'm happy with this purchase. It was still $99 at Home Depot in 2022. Now I'm wondering about the quality of my propane. Mine burns more orange that blue.
I never thought about propane being different quality. I do know that the flame looks much different the last 30-45 minutes left of propane. I bought a bigger tank with less refills and that works well for me.
Thanks, your video was helpful Sir.
Great to hear. I'm still using this heater on a daily basis this winter.
I have a 2 car garage and tried a kerosene heater similar to what you showed but the smell was too obnoxious even with the garage door open about a foot. How did yours do as far as fumes? And what did you do for ventilation?
I have a seal leak around my overhead door that lets outside air in. I also keep a service door cracked open to allow cross-ventilation. I used to have 2 kerosene heaters that drove me nuts with the fumes. The one was over 100,000 btu's, which heated nicely, but made me nauseous. The fumes from this one is way more tolerable.
Would have been nice to show the ventilation in the first five minutes of this video.
@@MarkThomasBuilder
I've got the same unit and just stopped using it due to the odor and Carbonic acid it produces. Burns my eyes. I'm using a tank top heater now 45k BTU's works a lot better for my application. Should also note that this heater requires a lot of ventilation, make sure you leave a door or large window open at all times. I left mine running in my garage for an hour or so before I went in to start a project and my Carbon Monoxide detector was going nuts.
Thanks for sharing. I have to get a C02 detector for my garage.
What happens if the power is lost to the unit? Does the propane cut off automatically too?
That's a great question. To the best of my knowledge, the propane shuts off if the power goes off. I haven't noticed any propane smell if I unplug it and leave the tank valve on. I always shut the valve off, just to be safe.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Thanks! In a "normal" shutdown, I'd do the same thing (shut the propane tank valve). I was thinking of a potential unattended situation, unit is on, circuit trips, power goes off, etc. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't still pumping propane. ;)
I knew a farmer that used a propane barbecue grill to heat his work shed. he would set a fan on the side table, and leave the lid open. The fan would blow the heat around the shed. It worked the cats ass was very quiet and produced lots of heat, Don't try that with charcoal though . it will always produce some CO and possibly blow hot embers around.
Interesting, if I tried that with my gas grill, the garage would smell like burgers, lol. I agree that the charcoal idea is a definite no.
Do you get a lot of smell from this heater? I read a couple of reviews that mentioned fumes, but the propane stuff that I run doesn't have much of a smell when burning. I also heard this type of heat puts a lot of moisture (humidity) in the air.
I don't notice too much smell, just a little bit. I don't run it long enough to notice to moisture either. Compared to a kerosene heater, this has much less of a smell.
I heat a 26x41 cabinet shop with a homemade wood stove with 1 inch black iron piping that circulates water for radiant heating to living quarters above. The stove and piping are encased with 5 inches of concrete. After the fire goes out heat continues to put heat into the water and shop. It’s ugly but works great.
Oh wow, that sounds like a nice setup. I would love to have heated floors, especially in my shop.
Nice Job ..
Danny Chase thank you, sir!👍😎
Does the buzzing noise stay consistent the whole time the heater is in use?
Yes unfortunately it's not available in a completely silent setup. I often use this for 20 minutes to get the chill out of the air and then switch to my Mr Heater Big Buddy which is silent.
I plan to use this for my uninsilated garage, can I use this without cracking the door or alot of ventilation?
I run a co2 detector and keep a little fresh air exchange going on in my garage. I recommend checking the Mr Heater website to be sure of their requirements.
would it heat up an outside patio in winter. Or at least a circumference of 6 feet?
If there isn't a big cold breeze on the patio I think it would work.
Mine is the 38,000 BTU size and it really heats up a small garage fast but I kept the overhead door open 3ft because I could smell the fumes
I have a co detector in my garage and it's never gone off. I have a gap in my garage door which helps provides some fresh air exchange too. So far, I'm really liking this heater.
I had 5 other heaters go bad . IV had my Mr heater blower for 5 years longer then all the rest and its still going.
Glad to hear it, mine is still going strong.
Hey guys... On 60,000 BTU setting, how much heat comes out in degrees? I know you can't convert BTU to degrees but someone has stuck a thermometer in front on one.... Just curious.
I don't have this particular heater, but I have used similar ones to melt beer cans. Aluminum melts at 1200F.
Seems like my ignition electrode continues to buzz after its lit. Is this normal? It seems like your buzzing goes away after its lit. Thanks
I just went out to see what mine does. The buzz sound lessens as it gets warmer. I still notice the faint sound while on the low setting. It's hard to hear on high.
How do you ventilate your garage during operation ??
That's my question. This is not safe to run inside.
@@dsmtsi Crack a window for some fresh air and you're good to go.
@@lawsonfan5797 I don't have windows in the garage. Looks like I'm going 30A electric.
@@dsmtsi You got a door?
@@lawsonfan5797 ya but I don't want to leave it open.
I did the math and a 30A 7500watt electric garage heater will be cheaper to run than this propane barrel heater. Plus less headache after the wire is run.
This video was helpful in my research though.
I am trying to treat a room with bedbug issue i am in motel business. I am trying to heat up around 300sq feet.
can it hold a temp of around 150F for about 30 minutes. in a closed room. will it be safe?
I believe the instructions say to use in a well ventilated area.
You are trying to save 30k on those bed bugs heaters?)))
If you run it for long enough time in a small area like that it may produce enough CO2 to put the flame out. And gas will flow easily. And then when you enter the room spark witch runs all the time will get fresh oxygen and will ignite all that gas..... But this is just in theory, need mythbusters to test this out......
Hi Mark and others, nice video. I am new to propane heaters and am pursuing an alternate purpose for use. I have about a 14x14 room and want to heat it up to hopefully 125-150 degrees for several hours. How much ventilation do you think I would need to reasonably safely have? I have a sliding window that is about 3 feet tall. (I had bed bugs awhile ago and extermination cost a ton, I'd like to have my own backup plan if something like that ever happened again and using heat is very effective)(I'd buy an electric one but companies want a small fortune for electric heaters capable of reaching that temperature range) Would this heater likely shut off before I reach those temps? Any other suggestions? Help is greatly appreciated, thank you, keep up the great work
My first reaction was to go with electric heat, so you don't have to worry about ventilation. I'm not sure how hot this would get a room that size. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Pmahc champ, i was wondering if you had an update on your question? If you tried this heater for that purpose and if it worked and the ventilation needed? I have a similar situation I'm dealing with
I just bought the 75k - 125k version. It's hooked to a 20lb propane tank. When I press and hold the button it ignites for a couple seconds but immediately goes out. I haven't been able to get it to stay lit. Any ideas? Think I'm going to return it and try my luck with a different (but same) one.
If the tank is connected and turned on, sometimes you need to run it awhile and relight it a couple times to get a good flame and bleed the air out of the line . That helps it get the proper pressure. My gas grill sometimes burns on low and it's air in the lines. Hope that helps. Let me know how it works out.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I had it held wide open a few times for more than a minute. Still just a quick burst of flame before dying out. Thanks for the reply though.
I'd try exchanging it then.
@@MarkThomasBuilder yup! Did that this afternoon and the new one works perfect.

I brought one by Thermoheat/Dyna-Glo. Same as this one basically. 30 to 60 btu. Only difference is it's a bit longer than this one.
I haven't tried their brand, but have seen them for sale in the stores. I've been using my Mr. Heater unit all the time lately.
This heater must be plugged in as well as propane right?
Hello, can you add an aluminum duct extension to the Mr. Heater MH60QFAV?
I haven't tried it on this. I've done it on kerosene style heaters like this and it works fine.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I think I'll try it. What materials will I need other than the duct?
Why do you need to pug it into the socket?
It needs to be hooked up to propane for fuel and electric to run the fan.
Hi,
Namaste from India. Hope you are well. I have purchased a Stanley st 100v gfa e in India from Amazon UK.
It just doesn't start! Every piece of hardware is intact.
We usually don't have propane cylinders, LPG is more commonly available. Is that a reason?
Can you help me with this?
Sorry, I'm not sure why that is.
I don't heat my garage even thought the heater is going all the time ! I don't have 220 available so am looking at something like this. I always worried about having fuel in the garage for the generator and lawn mower and if running these was possible. Everyone says don't have it close to fuel, so how close is close lol!
I have the metal Justrite Safety Can, which is pretty safe I'd say. It's probably a good idea to store the 5g can across the room.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Yea I was thinking on doing that. It's really my only option I don't have anywhere else to store it. Thanks.
HOw long will it run on the propane? What is the cost in propane to run it?
14 hours on low, using a 20lb tank.
Is the buzzing from the ignitor supposed to stay on ?
Yes
I don't know. I got the same problem
Zero noise with this style. Mr. Heater Original 540-Degree 45,000 BTU Tank Top Radiant Propane Heater
I have a Mr Heater 3500. We often lose electricity in our rural area. That means my work in the shop is over when it happens. Anyone have a modified answer to the electricity required blower?
Try the Mr Heater Big Buddy with the 20lb propane tank hose accessory. I reviewed both items on my channel.
Any hints when the flame goes from the big flower shape that fills the chamber to a wimpy whisper that barely stays lit and doesn’t change from hi to low setting? Assuming the tank is full of course.
I've had that happen a few times. It seems to occur less when I don't remove the hose from the propane very frequently. Sometimes I shut everything down and start over by opening the propane for a minute and letting the air run about 15 second before lighting it.
The guy at menards suggested just cracking the valve on the tank. Heater is working like a champ now. Awesome to know there is someone with tech knowledge at Menards
Just bought a Bauer (Harbor Freight) forced air heater similar to your Mr Heater unit. My problem is I cannot stop a leak of propane from the threaded connection to the heater. Does the supplied regulator hose of your Mr. Heater have a rubber gasket on both ends or just the threaded end to the propane tank? I have tightened the heater side of the hose (compression connection) as tight as I dare without ruining the brass nipple end but I still have a leak. I know that most compression fittings (as in most water lines in the home) have no rubber gasket to achieve a water tight seal, but I am not sure about gas lines, such as these which supply propane to the heater. Can you advise? Thanks for sharing your experience.
These Mr Heater heaters have a hose with a 1/8" NPT male fitting at the regulator and at the Heater end there is a 3/8" Flare fitting. I'd return that heater if you can't get it to seal.
@@MrDave9111 Yes, I did finally, at least temporarily, get the leak to stop by using a 3/8 inch O-ring dropped onto the flare fitting. I don't know if the the O-ring will stand up to propane over the long haul but I'll plan to keep testing for leaks before each use of the heater. Thanks for your comment.
Excellent Video. Really helps all of us so much. Thank you for taking the time :)
Glad it was helpful! This is your best bet for warming the entire garage.
Could I use this in my 3 car garage / man cave fully insulated about 620sq feet with 8 ceiling height. I ah e a pool table in there and a gym
Yes, it should warm that up just fine.I heat around 700 sq ft with 10' ceilings.
@@MarkThomasBuilder how long does it last on a 20lbs propane tank and I can plug it in on a regularb120v outlet right?
How long does the propane last on this heater??
I often run it on high and it seems to last a weekend, for off and on use with a standard 20lb tank. Sorry I don't know the exact run time. I bought a 100lb tank that keeps me set for several weeks.
Nice video, but I have not seen anyone use pipe tape on the connections, is it not necessary.....
I didn't recall having to use pipe tape, unless it's the connection right at the heater?
I use one in my Garage to bring it up to Heat fast mine is 30,000 BTU then I use a Blue flame that is 10,000 BTU to maintain it the only thing that I don't like is the Noise from it but it's a small price to pay to Keep Warm
Sounds similar to what I do as well.
My friend got the same one for Christmas and it worked fine untill last night. She turned it on and it worked fine for 5 mins. It stopped blowing warmer air. There was a small flame going. Inside the small flame, I'm guessing was the pilot ignitor or switch, was bright orange. It should have been blue right? Any ideas on how to fix that?
Good video by the way!
Is it still working good? thinking about getting one.
Yes, it's a great heater, still working just like the day I bought it.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks... I will be getting one.
How long does the propanw tank last?
I haven't timed it. If I had to guess, I would say about 10 hours on high.
could I use a force heater in my fully insulated 3 car garage about 630 sq ft with 8 ft ceilimgs for Christmas? I have a pool table in there and we will probably be playing pool during Christmas. I have some gaps around garage doors and also a 3 to 4 gap under door that goes to yard. So I don't know if this will be enough ventilation? I know force heaters are loud but we will have the music playing:) eventually I will get probably a Mr cool 18000 btu minisplit system to heat and cool garage. I also have a gym in there. I live in Clovis ca with a zone 9b I think
I think this heater will get you by. I use this heater for 15 minutes in my garage and then off for 30 minutes. I also have the BIg Buddy heater which is completely quiet and helps maintain the temps when I shut the big one off. I have some drafts from my overhead door which I need to work on.
@@MarkThomasBuilder isnot good to have drafts as ventilation?
Infared temp guns dont work well on reflective surfaces. I got mine today 89$ at menards. Working well so far. 👌
Interesting to know. 👍
Hey I went to GVSU. Got a BSEE in 2008.
Nice, very cool! A BBA for me.
I wish they made one with a auto start/stop with a thermostat you can set. If anyone knows of one please let me know, thanks
I agree, that would be awesome. I installed a flip switch where my heater plugs in. At least that makes it easier than dealing with the plug each time.
Can I connect this heater into a bigger propane tank?
Last winter I bought a 100# tank and it worked fine. I'm about ready to get it back in the garage again now that we're getting frost on the windshield.
North Stars hat, before they were traitors and moved south, just kidding, thanks for the review. Here in Minnesnowta, a good heater, well, it's like bug spray but for winter, LOL !
Haha, I never thought of it that way, as bug spray for winter. We just had our first snow last night here in Michigan.
Have a site that can be purchased'm writing from turkey
Can you get stuff shipped from Amazon or Home Depot?
Did you hand tighten everything or use wrenches?
I use wrenches. The reverse thread is something to be reminded of when hooking up to the 20lb tank.
On both ends then huh?
Mike Vickstrom yes, correct.
Does this model include a low oxygen level sensor ?
I don't recall hearing that it has that feature. I've run this heater for a couple hours in my garage and the co2 detector never went off.
Not sure if you still check the comments. But we have mr heater 70k btu (we use kerosene) and it works great but there is Suppose to be a fan to cool when we shut off. He thinks he hooked up wrong. What do you think? How important is it? We will fan it to cool down. But if easy fix would prefer and I can find any info. :)
I used to have a kerosene salamander style heater and all you do is plug it in to run and unplug it when you're done. I don't recall any cooling fans on them.
What kind of hose that heater use??
Just the standard one that comes with it. I'd say flexible hose around 4' long.
I just bought the 125000 Mr Heater & as soon as I plug it in the igniter starts arcing & stays on, is this normal?
Yes, the igniter is constantly going as the heater runs.
Thanks, that's a relief, wasn't sure
If you still got your old heater it needs a thermocouple and a good orifice cleaning. Clamping the safety switch isnt safe
Thank you, that's good to know.
@@MarkThomasBuilder that safety switch is designed to prove to the heater that someone is there to do the initial startup. Once the thermocouple warms up it proves to the gas valve that theres a flame there. That keeps the gas valve open. The flame stopping stops the flow of gas
Think this will be ok for heating up my rental property! Thank you for the review
I would check the Mr Heater website. I just use this to heat my garage and have some cross ventilation. It works great for that.
Outside only...
Mine won't stay lit it went out I think it's the thermocouple
Sound correct. I'm wonder how easy of a fix it is? I haven't had to do it yet.
Badass hat!!
Thanks, man!👊
I grew up in Minneapolis and would go watch Northstar games until they left to dallas when I was 6.. was happy to see that logo again.
That's cool. I've been a fan from far away. I could sometimes pick up the games on Wcco AM radio here in Michigan.
Do you need an electric outlet for this?
Yes, the fan runs off electricity.
Why do you nedd a heater looks like the suns out
Today the sun was out and my garage was still about 10 degrees only. It gets below zero overnight and the insulation in my garage keeps the temps from fluctuating too much.
Looks like it doesn't have a thermostat?
That is correct.
I heat my shop with a wood stove, kinda messy and my building definitely needs more insulation..
I'm a fan of wood heat too. I like this heater for quickly warming up my work area.
Yep, just mentioned it to the wife, might just get one.
Can you unplug the fan and run propane only?
Nope, you need electricity. I used to own a burner only heater, but it's not nearly as effective.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks.
One bad thing about propane heat is the two by products of burning are CO2 and water vapor. If your garage was really cold before you started the propane heater, you will condensation on the walls and your tools.
I didn't know that. Thanks for posting!
I have the same heater and it’s shooting a 12” flame out of it even when the propane is barely turned on. Looks like an afterburner on a jet engine.
I'm not sure why this would do it. I've seen kerosene heaters shoot out flames when it's running out of fuel.
@@Mumwaldee Couple good taps on the regulator and it's good as new
How many price bro
I believe I put an Amazon link in the description, which shows the current price.
so the fan should kick in first.. I bought a scheu 150k btu LP heater, been in box last 20 years, finally had a need for it, fan doesn't spin, it ignited and shot fire out front, but fan never kicked in... only 1 switch in back this model.. geuss have to take fan apart in -20f fun fun...
Yes, on this one the fan kick in as soon as you plug it in. Best of luck getting your fan fixed. Hopefully its a loose wire or something simple.
@@MarkThomasBuilder drilled a hole in the end and squirted a few drops of oil, fan spun better and she took right off.. got car started, was a good day...
Oh nice. It's a good feeling when you can fix a problem like that.
