    The insects of the underwater world, fascinating little buggers, and quite smart for their size. They probably even dream when they sleep, because they actually have a similar wave patterns as we have, when in REM sleep. As with all animals, all species differ from the others, one is more aggressive than the other, but even then, there are always individuals that are exeptions to the general description of their own species, and it is always very funny to see a much bigger crayfish being scared away by a much smaller but much more assertive little fellow crayfish. I just love them, they are fascinating!
    Clumsy swimmers, unlike the elegant waterdance of the shrimps, but unbeatably fast moving when spooked! They are like cats: very curious, but extremely cautious, cowardly cautious lol... they need to investigate everything they see, but anything that moves too fast or comes too close and they jump around like grasshoppers, all over the place, but backwards 🤣

    Mine has two favorite spots. He either sits in the mangrove roots to keep the big goldfish away, or he climbs the lucky bamboo near the filter to hang out and scavenge anything that makes its way through. Hardly ever hides in his pot unless it's feeding time for the fish

    They resemble small Lobsters 🦞

    • @jmgalaxytab2325
      @jmgalaxytab2325 3 месяца назад

      They ARE lobsters. Actually the lobster is the salt water version, and everything that grows in salt water grows bigger than their freshwater peers. The crayfish is the freshwater version of the lobster. There's also freshwater shrimps, crabs and pill bugs, but the saltwater versions can grow huge, whereas the freshwater versions are smaller. But they are just as much fun, and way easier to care for 😊

      Actually, the comparison to whiskers is excellent because just as for cats, these long appendages are very touch sensitive, so yeah, and since crayfish are very cute animals, I'd say whiskers sounds just fine even though it may not be the correct term 😊
