as far as the "unnecessary tangents" point goes, not every bingo space is criticism of sssniperwolf. there are bingo spaces like "actual insight", "desaturated effect", "angry effect" which aren't necessarily criticisms, they're just things that occur in her videos.
saying someone has "actual insight" form time to time is a straight up insult. "you tend to make bad points but this time you had some actual insight. how rare"
Yeah this is what i was gonna say, part of it is just the energy of a "drink every time sssniperwolf does something she does all of the time" and sometimes thats just relatively fine (if annoying) stuff and some of that is the unethical stuff shes doing. either way i think jack's streams are funny as hell
@@quillclock i agree, but that doesn't mean that the bingo space in and of itself is the criticism. having insight is not the bad thing, it's the fact that she provides real, transformative insight so rarely.
the way that her content is churned out in such a predictable way is a criticism, there's a bingo space for "jack predicts what she says" and the editing tropes are so overused that they could feasibly be replicated by an algorithm.
I don't think ssniperwolf's content is ok, but there's literally loads of react channels that Jack could go after but only does ssniperwolf. It does feel a little uhm....pointed.
It's always nice to point out Daily Dose as a content curation channel done right. None of his videos add a reaction, but he will always get permission and very often pay the creators of the videos to feature them in his.
I was so confused when he stopped uploading daily and all of his previous videos were gone. Now, I'm just so glad that he did this switch to a sustainable and - most importantly - legal way of creating videos.
I still don't agree with what he does. He is still ultimately cultivating and benefiting his brand to the detriment of others. And his voice is annoying
@@TonyScatone how is it to the detriment of others? he literally buys the rights to the video for curation purposes, he has a whole team that helps him source, acquire, and compensate the creators of his clips
This whole situation also shows off RUclips's hypocrisy. Daily Dose of Internet is a video curator kind of channel that I would put in the same sphere of Sniperwolf, but he does accomplish it ethically: he contacts owners, compensates them, etc. But he's also not allowed to be on the trending page, and he otherwise gets little to no-support from RUclips. They love how many views he brings, but policy-wise they don't stand behind him, which I think is fair. Meanwhile, Sniperwolf is paraded around as a celebrated figure by RUclips, which is how Jack mainly found out about her. One of these figures is far more controversial and potentially damaging to the platform, and RUclips didn't pick the safer option. However, I think Sniperwolf is getting away with it and doesn't bother to change her ways, because bringing a court case against her would do so much more damage. We have no idea how it would go, but it would be way too likely to open the door for copyright laws to become stricter. Bringing a court case to her would be setting a precedent, and that unknown could snowball really quickly to destroying how content works on the internet. This has to be handled on platform, and since RUclips doesn't appear to be doing anything, social awareness might be the only way to do it.
I think Jacksfilm is bringing it to people’s attention. I knew who Sniperwolf was but haven’t paid any attention to her for years because it wasn’t the type of content I consumed, I remember when she started and than the next thing I see is Sniperwolf against Jacksfilms, without someone calling it out I never would have known. Now its a site wide drama, how long will it be before the law tube part of RUclips sees it? I think we are on the path to a major lawsuit against her, and I don’t know how it will affect RUclips
"Bringing a court case to her would be setting a precedent, and that unknown could snowball really quickly to destroying how content works on the internet." I'd argue that would be good. Right now "reacting" is seen as a loophole by many people. RUclips allows it because it brings them more money. They could easily solve this if the wanted to. They already have the tools, there is youtube shorts which they could present as an alternative for tiktok reactors. There is the clipping feature that allows you to clip and share someone elses video. They could make it so that it's mandatory to clip original videos from yt shorts with yt's own tools and link them to the original video. That way when a person reacts to your video you could get notified, and you could get a portion of the revenue fairly. It would be fairly simple, but they wouldn't spend money on developing something that would make them lose even more money, because they don't actually think about the creators.
@@judgegrinch1139I really would love to see LegalEagle respond to this. I believe he specializes in copyright, so it seems like it would be a very interesting video
Daily dose of internet is exactly the same as SSSniperWolf. He started off stealing, only started asking once he got big, and still steals to this day when he doesn’t get a response. He could easily beat sSSniperWolf in being a cunt
it does make sense for youtube, tiktok is the fastest growing social media platform and is beating out all other platforms when it comes to popularity with the kids. youtube wants that content, which is why they promote shorts so hard and why they promote her, because she brings those tiktoks to youtube.
EXACTLY, shes not even reacting in those videos. she is constantly reposting, i swear she doesn't make a different reaction for each video she just copy and pastes them from other videos..
I really didn't want to be annoyed by Sniperwolf, it's RUclips and you should have the freedom to do and be who you want so long as it's not damaging to the person or people around it, but... that's the issue at hand. It's not a reaction, it's a repost. And not only that, there is no credibility to the videos she really stole. But it's also RUclips's fault for promoting this channel, condoning this and celebrating this because she's making them a profit as well. It makes me upset because there are people who work their butts off to the nitty gritty to get at least 1,000 views, and Sniperwolf has pirated videos and using her stolen content to pay for that mansion. It's annoying and I always want to be a guy who sees the half glass full. But this goes over my head. I'm with Jack on this one. The spoons are really cute also. LOL
Not her first time doing scummy stuff like this, just like how she (allegedly) fakes her reactions, she even (allegedly) faked her gameplay back when she was a gaming channel and the way she responded is pretty similar to how she responds now. How she gets away with it and how youtube promotes this massive tumor is shocking. One can’t keep deflecting criticism and damning the consequences forever, it’s only a matter of time when she does it to the wrong person and whether it be Jack or someone later down the line, who knows.
@@BasilBonehead youtube exists to make money, it has no incentive to protect the interests or intellectual property of youtubers unless it directly leads to higher profits for google. Big youtubers like Sniperwolf drive lots of ad revenue, which makes google money. Small youtube accounts with a few hundred to a few thousand subs dont. So if a big youtuber is making google millions by stealing content from small youtubers that makes them nothing they are never going to stop that happening unless an outside entity forces them too. And as for tiktoks, well, they cost google money by taking views away from youtube so the more users are watching people "reacting" TikToks on youtube instead of going to tiktok the better. RUclips will never be your friend, it can never be your friend. It will always protect the profitable regardless of how unethical they are
It's also not just the stealing video shit. She is a downright right horrible person who has done shifty things and never once took accountability for it.
Yeah I don't buy it that it wouldn't be possible to upload daily. Especially with the amount of support she can get from her large following and from RUclips administration. Many people are frustrated with the algorithms' pushing irrelevant content and the depreciation or lack of support for playlists is contributing to this. None of these platforms will ever try to move towards human-curated content because algorithms are just so much more scalable. DDoI and sssniperwolf are both filling the niche of content-curators with a success that new creators may find difficult to achieve, but DDoI does it with permission, *daily*. As many comments have mentioned, RUclips openly says they cannot endorse his content through the trending page for example, whereas sw is a star creator.
Especially because she makes a ton of money, hiring an editor and or producer who reaches out for permission FIRST and before the video is finished adds appropriate credits would be a tiny fraction of her earnings
Like you pointed out, Jack is doing criticism the right way, he isn't using anything but the wrongdoings of Lia on her reaction content. He didn't use the fact that Lia has been a hot topic before for her actions that didn't sit well with people. The thing with Lia is, she doesn't take accountability and do not improve. While also receiving shout outs from youtube. Lia faked gameplays, Lia was very "pick me girl", Lia did bodyshame people. It's so easy to find her problematic past, multiple videos have been made on her behavior prior to this situation, but she never takes accountability. So yeah, its very weird that youtube would highlight her, the same way that, lets say, youtube @ other problematic behavior creators such as Shane Dawson, Jefree, David. The problem is who youtube is choosing to endorse.
At least they actually make their own content. I'd hesitate to call it good content, or even tolerable content, but the content that they put out is ultimately their own. Sniperwolf's failed to even get THAT down
ngl it might sound weird but one thing about this whole situation that was like a breath of fresh air is how jack as far as i know has never said a single misogynistic thing towards sniperwolf. i remember when this started i was worried about how hard he was going on criticising her with the daily videos and i didn't want to go through the whole "oh no, a youtuber i loved for years said some heinous shit about women" again. but no, all of his criticism has been totally legitimate and deserved and also straight up funny. there's something so refreshing about seeing a woman being criticized for something fairly and honestly and without resorting to sexist rhetoric to discredit her. she sucks, but she sucks for totally legitimate reasons!
I was watching one of jack’s vods last night and he was admonishing chat for making rude comments about sniperwolf’s appearance. It made me even more of a fan that he keeps the focus on her work as a RUclips channel rather than attacking her as a person.
@@sidhawker i never had the patience to watch the full VODs but god damn that makes me respect him even more. too many male creators let that stuff slide in their comments even if they don't make those comments themselves. love how he's actually actively ensuring that his fanbase is a safe and welcoming space for women.
JackFilm has been on the site for almost 2 decades, he's a fucking great dude and I can guarantee you he wouldn't still be going if he was misogynistic or prejudiced in any way.
I agree, I’m enjoying her being ripped to shreds & have it absolutely not be gendered or misogynistic- she’s just a lazy grifter being called out for her lazy grifting
Seeing this whole debacle between Sssniperwolf and Jack has been pretty interesting. When it comes to react content, I'm not wholly against it, especially if the content creator provides something meaningful. This is especially true with channels like Vlogging Through History (VTH) and the Charismatic Voice... They both react to other people's media, and use their knowledge and expertise (as well their own personalities) to add something engaging in their videos. With Sssniperwolf however-- I'd rather watch those meme compilation vids without the her commentary. Especially with how mind-numbingly repetitive and predictable she is with her... "Reactions." And to think she had the gall to call Jack a "content thief."
I agree that like "expert reactors" are a good thing. I like to watch Quantastic, which prominently displays the socials of the creators they show. They don't react, but rather play clips from artists' instas or tiktoks with music over the audio. HOWEVER, they have really neat commentary on the history of different artforms or other insights at the bottom. And they PROMOTE the people they feature. Or doctors reacting to things. Anyone who gives useful context. SSSSSSSNiperwolf? Not so much.
The biggest problem I see with Tiktok is that it's incredibly easy to snag someone elses work. I see fake accounts take creators videos and claim them as their own all the time and tiktok does nothing when it's reported. Now, I know that's not the same thing, but it's similar enough to yoiking videos and "reacting" to them to be just as problematic and also needs nipped.
i mean she has actually just put tiktoks in her videos without any reactions whatsoever, padding the video to reach the 8 minute mark (which is the minimum to put ads in your videos)
@@Nehu_22 This is partly why I am confused when someone make it out to be way too hard to credit every video, she "reacts" to; if they can send a link and edit in the video in the way that they do, they can at the very least, list a credit. There's no excuse, she should be able to credit most videos no problem. Often times it's not even that difficult to find the original video after it's been freebooted as well, sometimes it is, but not always.
This again? Did we do this already with Jinx? And multiple react streamers? Like… I’m starting to think somebody does need to get sued and lose for this to stop.
@@drkmgic He got sued for a show he used to do because he used a lot of other clips without fair use There's probably more to it, thats the bare gist I know, so it might honestly not be accurate, but I know he got sued for copyright infringement and had to stop doing that
@@blokvader8283he’s back, but now he does music and his stuff is actually fair use, not blatant react content that people try to pull. Honestly even though he’s way less popular, his stuff is way better than it ever used to be.
@@malevolentsnow9867 I dunno his videos are shorts sized but he still cuts his shorts in half as an ad for the bigger video even though theyre like minute long videos lmao
She also falsely accused someone of being a sex offender. She said she "Googled his name". Turns out it wasn't true. She got a bunch of her fans to make racist attacks on the person. She's horrible, absolutely horrible.
The thing that bothers me about most about sssniperwolf is that she is targeting children with her content and she is stealing content from children. In a lot of states or countries or municipalities there are laws about sharing content of children and she’s doing this blatantly without permission from the children or their guardians. So creepy. Profiting from children and profiting from stealing content of children. Yuck.
I sure hope there's a class action lawsuit against her. I'll bring the popcorn! 😂 Also I think the "unnecessary tangent" parts are for him to make fun of the lack of interesting commentary to the video, not necessarily saying they aren't original but they definitely don't transform it or add to it in any way.
Sniper Wolf is the codename of a character in the original metal gear solid. Sniper wolf is a character with a genuinely cool story and reason to do what she does and be the way she is... Unlike Sssniperwolf. lol.@@blokvader8283
In Jack's recent streams, he's had people she stole from come forward about their experiences with her, and how they were often too intimidated to pursue having their content taken down because of her size and the fear of being harassed by her audience. Many of them were minors, some of them said they ended up in tears over it when they were like 14, and have been afraid to post their own content ever since because the experience was so bad. Many of them, thanks to Jack, worked up the courage to file claims -- and it's had an effect. She's edited out tons of clips from various videos, and apparently deleted entire videos because of it.
As someone who does watch “reaction” content sometimes, it’s so clear when you’re watching a video for the creators reaction to content versus watching for the content itself. Personally, I enjoy certain channels where someone will watch parts of a show or listen to music from some artist they hadn’t listened to before and give their thoughts on it in the moment. You almost will never get the whole video of what they’re reacting to, just clips of it so you know where they are. Or if it is the full video, parts will be muted or altered in some way. For example I watch a RUclipsr called Mathew McKenna who I feel pretty ethically cuts around content, plus it isn’t usually small and unknown creators he’s reacting to. It can be a fun genre if you just kind of want to get the experience of “what does someone else think about this content i like?”. Or if you’re mildly lonely and miss watching shit with your friends 😂
Stuff I really like is "professional reacts to" like musicians reacting to OST music (Alex Moukala for example) or Legal Eagle reacting to courtroom things and judging the accuracy, like Better Call Saul or... Dhar Mann lmao
Jacksfilms while targeting Sssnipeewolf, is just doing this because of how she’s being treated. RUclips has praised her countless times and has been calling her an ‘amazing’ creator and he didn’t like that youtube was acknowledging a creator that doesn’t actually do anything to deserve this kind of special treatment. It’s a whole critique on RUclips and how it rewards content ‘creators’ that don’t try, while pushing aside creators that do have creativity.
I used to watch the Fine brothers around 2013 because the way they did reaction content weren't just reactions, they have discussions with different demographics of people featured in each video based what they were watching. Nowadays I don’t watch any of their channels not because of React World or the recent allegations (although those are pretty bad to say the least), it’s because they haven't made a RUclipsrs React video since 2020 and most of the videos they post are based on topics and recent pop culture stuff that I don’t care about.🤔 Also, I've watched a ton of videos from DarkViperAU on the ethics of reaction content and it's very interesting. Plus this topic of SSSiperwolf and Jack is definitely relevant. I highly recommend anyone to watch his videos. 👌
darkviper’s content has changed the way i view twitch streamers that i previously enjoyed a lot. there’s only 1 i really watch anymore, and even then im more skeptical about watching that content
I remember Jacksfilms for way back when, this SSSniperwolf situation has got me back to him, which I'm happy about. Edit: He also has "Actual Insight" on the bingo cards, part of his point is pointing out what is acceptable and what is not like freebooting.
And also, I think the BBBingo is not meant for criticism, or at least not now. It’s just for fun, and a little bit of Criticism. The actual points are on his original channel. BBBingo provides a way for those stolen from to contact Jack through chat and tell him about whatever happened to them. And results for copywrite claims/strikes.
Could not agree more. My oldest daughter used to watch Sssniperwolf, and I was always very clear with her that I didn't like the content and felt like she was pretty much ripping off other creators without adding anything to the space. Honestly I'm glad she's getting called out even if it isn't likely to change her icky behavior.
i started watching you when i was really young, and i started watching jacksfilms around the same time- it’s wild to see these two sides of my childhood overlap
sniperwolf mutes videos or cuts off parts of tiktoks to steal their jokes and she complained about jack being a snake and "stealing" her content youtube still supports her and promotes her all the time and it is so weird
I clicked on this video not understanding the title one bit. Even though I've been watching RUclips since about 2006... and apparently millions of people watch these creators, I've never heard of them. 34 million people for the one? It's wild how completely out of the loop a person can be. Lol. And your spoons are very cute and creative!! I love the mushrooms!
Adding on to Princess: he also gained traction doing collaborations with Toby and Sean for the Sideburns Crew, with Tobuscus being one of the bigger names at that time.
Yeah no, I think I might've seen the wtf blanket once or at least heard of it. But even those other people I didn't know them. I guess I was on a different side of RUclips. Mr weebl, filmcow, communitychannel!!, baratsandbareta, smosh, unfortunately salad fingers which gives me unpleasant shiversjust thinking about. And lots of small random people just talking about their lives. I wonder if I even follow anyone from back then anymore (I do follow nat, but she doesn't post.) I don't even have the same account. But it's so wild how someone can have so many subscribers and still so many people have no idea who they are.
4:35 Another good example is Shepard Fairey's Brock Obama artwork. We learned in class that it was controversial because the artwork is based on like, a photographers peice that he didnt get permission to use. If I remember currectly
It's crazy. Nothing, and I mean nothing sniper wolf does is kid content, nor should kids be watching it. In the first video I watched of hers, she cussed, watches horrible tik toks, and on top of all that she is a downright toxic human through and through, and that's just not arguable. He is not doing this because she makes bad content. She is not a good person who does not in any way deserve it plain and simple. Imagine not making time for a terminally ill child cancer patient whose entire life is based around your content.
I love Jacksfilms and I love him taking a stand for the smaller people who get their content stolen by people like sniperwolf and gives them the credit they deserve
I found out who snippperwolf was through my 9 year old neice watching her. She started mimicing that accent and I could not figure out where it came from until she showed me a video
A great example of ethical content curation is Daily Dose of Internet! He is open and honest about where he got the conent he is showing, he credits the original creators, and he only uses clips he has gotten explicit permission for!
An example of good content curation is Daily Dose of Internet. He does get permission from everyone featured in his video and properly credits everyone.
I think about your point about the tangents only would make sense if Mr. Films was only talking about how she was abusing copyright laws, but hes not. He just thinks she makes bad content on top of that. Other than that minor nitpick, i loved this video and you earned a new sub
The hypocrisy is that SSSniperwolf rampantly abused the DMCA to take down people's videos criticizing her, like mine for example. She filed numerous DMCAs against several of my videos as a means to silence criticism. When that didn't work, she lied to her audience about me, and said I was re-uploading her videos when I never did. Then she slandered me, which I sued her for, but the case got dismissed because her lawyers made an argument essentially about jurisdiction. It's unbelievable how much she has gotten away with, and how brazen she is with her hypocrisy. She is stealing other people's content for her own benefit and financial gain, and not meeting the basic standards of fair use at all.
"And she is stealing these videos." thank you that was all i needed to hear tbh!!🥰 At the end of the day that's all there is to it. Smaller channels - like Dead Meat is one that comes to mind - struggle with copyright and demonetization issues ALL THE TIME despite how much work they do to add to their commentary and it 100% falls under fair use. Yet RUclips just let snipes get away with literal stealing of content, and she's made millions from it. The more i learn about what she's done, the more it makes me pissed off
Art copyright is so funky. The Rogers v. Koons case reminds me of a more recent case where photographer Jingna Zhang had her photograph copied almost exclusively by some painter in Luxembourg for an art contest with prize money. 90% a tracing with just a color palette swap. However, Jingna ended up losing the copyright case because it was based in Luxembourg and therefore different copyright laws. They deemed her work-the ORIGINAL work-not “unique” enough. The painter also came from rich family with connections and the best lawyer there so you know how that goes.
Some of my favorite channels are The Normies, and Blind Wave. Not only do they have GOOD SOLID reactions to what they're watching, but they actually TALK about the thing they watched after. It's like watching a movie or show with friends. Except the friends are internet strangers.
@@sabine1285 One of my favorite Blind Wave moments actually is from episode 4 of Ahsoka, when it cut to black after she sees Anakin in the WBW and we hear the Vader theme. I can't' remember his name, but one of them just like STOOD UP and paced in that kind of "WHAT IN THE FCK JUST HAPPENED" type of reaction. Honestly same cause I had to pick my jaw up from the floor and was shamelessly shadow boxing on my couch lol
One other thing I think worth bringing up. Jack also make sure to talk about the creators leaving links in the description, and there are even members of his community that go and search for the ones that don't have any credit, giving them a link as well. How many people actually go and click on the links? Who knows. But he is at least being a thousand percent more ethical than sniper
Waiting for a small county lawyer (Edit:meant judge) in the USA to make a judgement in a case that going "Wow! That's awesome" isn't enough review or criticism for a fair use defence and change the whole of RUclips in the process
As far as the bingo cards are concerned, I feel like he's open to retiring certain squares when given a good case. For example, "the accent" was removed a while ago (which I can appreciate as it may be a legitimate speech pattern and not something she does "for show," which may put it in bullying range). If a case were made to remove unnecessary tangents, I feel like he would hear it out. 🤷🏻♀
I feel like that's probably not why he removed "the accent". I think it's more likely that he felt unequipped to give that criticism the nuance that it would really need in order to prevent his community from being super weird and anti-black about it. Like, clearly some of it is her natural speech pattern, but there's definitely some deliberate blaccent going on there imo.
@@samkadel8185Yeah that's what I'm thinking, I'm also white so I wouldn't feel comfortable judging whether or not she's trying to do a "blaccent" or the AAV (I dont know if thats the right acronym, sorry) Basically, we just don't have a say in the matter lmao I am very sad that Fake Laugh got removed, that one was a good space
5:10, i’ll add: ALMOST ALWAYS you still have to get samples cleared by record labels or the copyright holder. this is a very very very prevalent thing in the music industry. artists always reference having to get samples cleared - and sometimes it can completely block a song from being released if the original owner disputes. most samples are licensed under the original masters which typically goes to record labels. often times it’s pretty easy for artists management to get approval if the record label is in good standing with them. i do not know if the sampled artist is always briefed on this though
To answer what you brought up with music sampling it's different. As a music producer myself, at least traditionally and how everyone I know in the industry does it, sampling requires getting permission, licensing and some form of deal, usually with the copyright owner of what's being sampled. Either a one off payment or agreeing to a share of royalties. The exception being if the sample is in the public domain. Either created for that purpose or the copyright has expired and is unrenewed.
got nothing to add that everyone else hasn't said, so I'm just commenting in hopes of boosting your channel. your tone is pleasant to hear & love your eye makeup :) cute spoons too
What I don't get, is why youtube is promoting her, isn't this very obviously them acknowledging that there is basically pirated/ illegal content on their platform and isn't that a huge no-no mostly because they are supposed legally to try their absolute hardest to not have that? Doesn't that also open them up to a possible lawsuit?
Ah, SSSniperwolf, that one girl I never ever see in my recommended when I'm signed in on RUclips, but who suddenly fills up my entire Home Page whenever I hop on RUclips anonymously, like when I'm in Incognito Mode.
Very informative video! That being said, I feel like the whole point is moot now that she’s gone and blatantly committed a crime by stalking/doxxing jacksfilms
DUDE i remember watching your adventure time art style video AGES ago, and now this popped into my recommendations and I recognized you immediately, glad to see you're still making content! :)
A recent unnecessary tangent she had (I know this from the most recent bingo livestream) was her opening a program to draw a headless giraffe (because she thought a giraffe in a video was going to be headless). While it was certainly strange, I was actually happy about it because she was doing something original and transformative.
Thank you for this. I don’t like SW but we need fair criticism with Jack, as well. He’s knowledgeable about fair use, but we need to be aware that as you stated, not realizing the tangent is important goes to the issue now the audience believe he is speaking on what constitutes fair use, but what he’s actually giving is his commentary about HIS personal standard in many cases. He may not have bad intentions, but the audience are there not for learning about fair use, but because they hate her. What you have done with creating well thought out and educational commentary I feel is more effective if the point is to learn and educate. He is failing to realize at his channel is becoming a high brow lolcow channel, in the same way we see updates and games surrounding Daniel Larson and Chris Chan. He could use his influence in a variety of ways, even selling a course or ebook about his film making tips, and that has the power to benefit in a positive way, instead of devolving into a drama channel.
9:33 I always thought that the BBBingo was to show just how lazy her content is. It's so bed he can often accurately predict what she's about to say word for word.
im curious if the original content creators would be fine with some sort of integrated system where if a youtuber reacted to their content they would get a portion of the money made from the reactor
Fair use is a defence that you can use if you're in a copyright infringement lawsuit. It has 4 pillars: Factor 1: The Purpose and Character of the Use. Factor 2: The Nature of the Copyrighted Work Factor 3: The Amount or Substantiality of the Portion Used. Factor 4: The Effect of the Use on the Potential Market for or Value of the Work. The more you comply with the factors the more likely it is that you are using copyrighted works properly. It's not a standard you can meet. It's a defense you'll need to make if you're ever sued
Actually without a judge make a legal judgement to determine if it is truly "fair use" it is just in a grey area. The only one who can make a true determination on fair use is a judge in the legal system. Hence why the policies are the way they are. A lot of people say and believe they are in "fair use" but only a legal determination can truly make that claim.
this needs to be stressed more. sadly, jacks intended purpose of spreading awareness on fair use has managed to confuse much of the internet. while SW is awful, there’s an assumption that he’s created educational material, and that what he’s offering is the evidentiary standard and not opinion in many cases.
idk anything about this. tbh i didn't even knew this was happenning. but I think it's really funny that their youtube name both starts with the same letter 3x and are two words put togheter
Jacksfilms created a second channel called jjjacksfilms specifically to criticise sssniperwolf. So his main Chanel doesn’t have that, but the other one is a play on sssniperwolfs channel name.
It makes me think back to the era of reaction channels getting reasonable dumped and criticized for the same thing. Only difference was they actually watched the content and reacted. Some got better but many didn't do well.
I think the bare minimum she should do is link to the tiktoks she curates and reacts to. It's something jacksfilms was doing, which helps out those channels.
the thing about suing someone for using intellectual property is that it usually only ever happens if that people is making money off of it, in the case of the sculpture it's likely that the person who made the sculpture was getting something out of it that the original photo wasn't able to, if it was a sculpture that the person made simply for fun, and likely if they had gotten permission, it wouldn't have been grounds for suing even if the person who filed the lawsuit still would've been capable of doing so, money is the source for these things and in sssniperwolf's situation that's what the whole thing is grounded in, her channel doesn't transform any of the original content she's "reacting" to, what she's doing is akin to the NPC trend on tiktok, except with the NPC's of tiktok they're not using other people's content, they do the same repetitive motions for long periods of time live, which is admittedly probably a fairly taxing thing to be doing day in day out, but in sssniperwolf's case her repetition isn't the source of gawking for people, what people watch sssniperwolf for is obviously the tiktoks, it's like a compilation channel because people seemingly aren't watching for her insight or commentary because she often doesn't really add anything, what she DOES add is potentially a sense of partnership for lonely people in the same way that people watch streamers on twitch. the situation just feels really icky all around, she's essentially profiting off of a wide variety of creators by putting in the bare minimum, bad editing, repetitive commentary which arguably doesn't fall under the umbrella of 'fair use', and content from other creators from a different platform (which, in the case of crossplatform content theft, makes things more difficult since DMCA's are more accessible to companies, and looked down upon in youtube culture for the way that youtuber's have abused the system in the past), i doubt that this is going to do much, especially since the majority of sssniperwolf's audience is children, but hopefully some repercussions are met in the end, she is profiting off of it anyway. at the very least she could change her format and try to garner a slightly different audience, but asking that is basically telling someone to sell their cash cow for low job security which i don't see happening, especially when the person is rich since wealth often blinds people to morally negative things in regards to how they acquire their wealth.

"He's not making this about her looks, her gender, anything that would be considered bullying. It's just about the way she curates content." Eeehh.... I don't know. While I largely like Jack and won't be caught defending Sniperwolf any time soon, but I do think some of Jack's criticisms are kind of mistargeted. You already mentioned the "unnecessary tangents" bit, but a lot of his Sniperwolf bingo is just about nitpicking her content to death. I definitely agree with the criticisms of stealing content, not crediting the creators, and not doing enough to justify fair use, but a lot of it is to just make fun of her accent or her mannerisms, and it does feel kind of besides the point. It can feel pretty mean spirited at times.
i see the bingo as moreso a criticism of the lacklustre "reactions" she provides as her content is so repetitive and untrasformative that you can make a literal bingo card out of her baseline commentary
This is why I stopped watching. What began as a good effort to help understand ethical content has started to feel bad to watch now, in the same way you see creators who can’t stop making videos about Daniel Larsen or Cyrexx. It’s turning into a hate watching party and I don’t think it’s doing much to effect the issue of how this is going on all over youtube.
In the music industry sampling is a touchy subject, most people will say it is fine and you can sample as you please, however it is considered proper and polite to ask permission first.
Not many people know that she used to be pretty big within the gaming community but stopped after I think 8 million subs Edit:She also stole her style of thumbnail from another RUclipsr
Genuine question, are Try Not to Laugh Challenges ethical/legal? Like the whole point is we want to see their reactions, that's the content we clicked for, but I don't know if I'd call it transformative. And I feel like every youtuber has done one at some point.
Honestly that's a tough one, I'd like to say it's transformative because it's adding a challenge on top of it, but it doesn't really do much to change the actual content. I feel like if it's one of those things where fans send in clips, then that's fair game, but if they're curating the video themself, not so much.
Yeah Sampling has no version of fair use, especially if you’re trying to release it. Use someone else’s recording and you’ve gotta licence it no matter how much you mangle it… Cover versions have something that looks like fair use but it’s more like a blanket “everyone can cover this” licence that’s hung around from the printed songbooks era, so the songwriter still gets paid but you don’t need to seek permission.
I am afraid of a "sssniperwolf gate" happening to be honest. Lots of creators do reactions and they also provide small reactions to them but it is still enjoyable to chill with them if all they do is make a small giggle or basic reaction. And what if the reaction to this is youtube saying "no one can react now, not even transformative because we can't tell the line of what is what, therefore all should be gone or demonetize instantly, start making original stuff then!". That's a possibility that I fear.
she has shorts where she reacts to the tiktok and then tries it out. those shorts are entertaining, she should do that more. she wouldn't even need a script cause she seems very charismatic
(Unrelated to Sniperwolf giving bad face to the platform and how I just want to promote this video with a comment) I just love how Jack calls every player "Bingo babies"
As a musician, sampling is perfectly fine. The “Amen Break” is commonly cited as the most sampled drum beat of all time. The problem is when people obviously sample something, change it slightly, and claim they created it. As Vanilla Ice did with the bass line in “Ice Ice Baby”. It’s the same line from Freddie Mercury and David Bowie’s song “Under Pressure” but with a single added note. Surprisingly, Vanilla Ice won in court over it. On the flip side of sampling or copying other peoples work, Ed Sheeran has to pay royalties to TLC (the group, not the channel) because his song “Shape of You” has a strikingly similar melody to their song “No Scrubs”
I really liked your thoughts. You have a really good insight. ^^ Also this is unrelated, but for some reason I really like looking at your screen safer and seeing the cuts. Idk why that was so interesting :')
OMG I would watch your videos years ago when I was young, I’m 21 now! I saw your face in the thumbnail and said “ I swear I know this person..” So cool to see you still making content! 😊 I remember watching your Adventure Time drawing video, that was 8 years ago. I feel so old now.
All she would need to do is ask permission or offer a fixed cost to license the videos for the purpose of a youtube reaction. The argument that it would take too much time just doesnt make sense to me because she makes so much money she could easily pay somebody to prepare weeks of licensed videos for her to react to, it's not as though she doesnt already have a team of editors and 'curators'
She should speak to Daily Dose of Internet. He uploads (almost) every day, he pays people for the content he features, and he doesn't even need to react to them. He can just post them wholesale.
This video cleared the doubts I had. So it's possible to not ask permission if the commentary is transformative enough and that the creators are credited on the description or something. We can all agree she makes very little transformative content even tho some of tik toks she watches are kind of superficial. But agreed she could definitely to better. She is more of a promotion tik toks kind of content creator and she should definitely pay to the respective tik tokers. She won't die starving if she uploads 2/3 times per week. Great video and great insight I enjoyed it a lot
as far as the "unnecessary tangents" point goes, not every bingo space is criticism of sssniperwolf. there are bingo spaces like "actual insight", "desaturated effect", "angry effect" which aren't necessarily criticisms, they're just things that occur in her videos.
saying someone has "actual insight" form time to time is a straight up insult.
Yea Tony i bet your voice is music compared to his..
@@madmantheepic7278 I certainly don't sound like I'm talking into the back of my nose
He could easily beat sSSniperWolf in being a cunt
really good point i didn't really think about how bad bringing this kind of thing to court could be

She’s also very promoted by RUclips themselves, it really doesn’t make sense to be promoted as a “star creator” when all she does is reaction videos
it does make sense for youtube, tiktok is the fastest growing social media platform and is beating out all other platforms when it comes to popularity with the kids. youtube wants that content, which is why they promote shorts so hard and why they promote her, because she brings those tiktoks to youtube.
@@TeeBeeOhhShe still shouldn't be "star creator".
Tiktok embassador perhaps? But she is not deserving of the title
She isnt even a star lol wth does she exceed in then? Other than stealing
It will always protect the profitable regardless of how unethical they are

the funniest part is, she COULD ask for permission and still upload daily, totally possible. Daily dose of internet does it...daily xD
As many comments have mentioned, RUclips openly says they cannot endorse his content through the trending page for example, whereas sw is a star creator.
except he doesn’t upload daily
@@ladydelulu he posts a short every day
Especially because she makes a ton of money, hiring an editor and or producer who reaches out for permission FIRST and before the video is finished adds appropriate credits would be a tiny fraction of her earnings

"Reactions."
And to think she had the gall to call Jack a "content thief."
Of course she would do that, she even steals criticism and does it wrong 😂
She also couldn't find time to visit or talk with a terminally ill child cancer patient
Love you mentioned Elizabeth/The Charismatic Voice. She is so lovely.
VTH is literally the exact opposite of sssniperwolf and I got dopamine when you mention it lol
Sometimes she even puts her reaction over the @ of the creator, it looks like she puts more work into not crediting the author of the tiktok
@@Nehu_22 This is partly why I am confused when someone make it out to be way too hard to credit every video, she "reacts" to; if they can send a link and edit in the video in the way that they do, they can at the very least, list a credit. Often times it's not even that difficult to find the original video after it's been freebooted as well, sometimes it is, but not always.

As a JJJacksfilms fan, there are moments where it doesn't apply.
I’m a lawyer and sssniperwitch’s “content” has been bugging me like crazy! Ssso good to hear you talk about it
As someone who does watch “reaction” content sometimes, it’s so clear when you’re watching a video for the creators reaction to content versus watching for the content itself.
Nowadays I don’t watch any of their channels not because of React World or the recent allegations (although those are pretty bad to say the least), it’s because they haven't made a RUclipsrs React video since 2020 and most of the videos they post are based on topics and recent pop culture stuff that I don’t care about.🤔
Also, I've watched a ton of videos from DarkViperAU on the ethics of reaction content and it's very interesting.
Is that a pewdiepie chair?
Could not agree more. My oldest daughter used to watch Sssniperwolf, and I was always very clear with her that I didn't like the content and felt like she was pretty much ripping off other creators without adding anything to the space. Honestly I'm glad she's getting called out even if it isn't likely to change her icky behavior.
i started watching you when i was really young, and i started watching jacksfilms around the same time- it’s wild to see these two sides of my childhood overlap
sniperwolf mutes videos or cuts off parts of tiktoks to steal their jokes and she complained about jack being a snake and "stealing" her content
youtube still supports her and promotes her all the time and it is so weird
Thank you for not ditching awesome points. I need more of them in my life.
She honestly deserves to go down because of all the reprehensible stuff she's done and hasn't apologized for.
I clicked on this video not understanding the title one bit. Even though I've been watching RUclips since about 2006... and apparently millions of people watch these creators, I've never heard of them. 34 million people for the one? It's wild how completely out of the loop a person can be. Lol.

That breath hold when you wait in the video to find out what side echo comes down. 🤣
The spoons are beautiful 😭😍 Also Echo your hair is so cute! :D
Thank you!! (n_n)
I honestly thought she was not even reacting to the clips just recording herself saying "OMG did you see that? I can't believe it."
I typically stay pretty far out of the loop about youtuber drama so when a channel i actually watch makes content about drama i love to eat it up
My favorite commentary on this form of "content creation" is meatcanyon's video reacting to xqc reacting to his cartoon on xqc 😆
Exactly, theres genuinely so many reaction channels that actually react and are way more entertaining than sssniperwolf ever will be 😭
@@sabine1285 One of my favorite Blind Wave moments actually is from episode 4 of Ahsoka, when it cut to black after she sees Anakin in the WBW and we hear the Vader theme.
When I read "small county lawyer" my mind immediately cast Hal Holbrook (as Mark Twain) in this role and now I will accept no ordinary lawyers
“The Accent” would probably be more accurate for people like KallMeKris… it just depends on which one you’d class as “the Accent”.
@@samkadel8185Yeah that's what I'm thinking, I'm also white so I wouldn't feel comfortable judging whether or not she's trying to do a "blaccent" or the AAV (I dont know if thats the right acronym, sorry)
Basically, we just don't have a say in the matter lmao
I am very sad that Fake Laugh got removed, that one was a good space
@@blokvader8283 the acronym is AAVE, "African-American Vernacular English".
@@cthulhuofmanycolors377 Thank you very much, I knew I was forgetting something!
Id love to see an update video!
Copyright is such a tangled web, but you gave a very easy to digest explanation of it!
Havent seen this chanel in YEARS
Glad to see that your hair still slays ❤🖤
9:33 I always thought that the BBBingo was to show just how lazy her content is. It's so bed he can often accurately predict what she's about to say word for word.
im curious if the original content creators would be fine with some sort of integrated system where if a youtuber reacted to their content they would get a portion of the money made from the reactor
I've never been here before but I've been watching JJJacks BBBingo so the algorithm recommended you. Great video.
Fair use is a defence that you can use if you're in a copyright infringement lawsuit. It has 4 pillars:
Factor 1: The Purpose and Character of the Use.
Factor 2: The Nature of the Copyrighted Work
Factor 3: The Amount or Substantiality of the Portion Used.
Factor 4: The Effect of the Use on the Potential Market for or Value of the Work.
The more you comply with the factors the more likely it is that you are using copyrighted works properly.
It's not a standard you can meet. It's a defense you'll need to make if you're ever sued
This was very concise and excellently done
Except for those tiktok accounts that are also freebooting content themselves.
@@Simmons101Lmao, our dear old friend IdeaTimes
From what I've seen she often isn't even watching the original creators, but others who have freebooted it
the thing about suing someone for using intellectual property is that it usually only ever happens if that people is making money off of it, in the case of the sculpture it's likely that the person who made the sculpture was getting something out of it that the original photo wasn't able to, if it was a sculpture that the person made simply for fun, and likely if they had gotten permission, it wouldn't have been grounds for suing even if the person who filed the lawsuit still would've been capable of doing so, money is the source for these things and in sssniperwolf's situation that's what the whole thing is grounded in, her channel doesn't transform any of the original content she's "reacting" to, what she's doing is akin to the NPC trend on tiktok, except with the NPC's of tiktok they're not using other people's content, they do the same repetitive motions for long periods of time live, which is admittedly probably a fairly taxing thing to be doing day in day out, but in sssniperwolf's case her repetition isn't the source of gawking for people, what people watch sssniperwolf for is obviously the tiktoks, it's like a compilation channel because people seemingly aren't watching for her insight or commentary because she often doesn't really add anything, what she DOES add is potentially a sense of partnership for lonely people in the same way that people watch streamers on twitch. the situation just feels really icky all around, she's essentially profiting off of a wide variety of creators by putting in the bare minimum, bad editing, repetitive commentary which arguably doesn't fall under the umbrella of 'fair use', and content from other creators from a different platform (which, in the case of crossplatform content theft, makes things more difficult since DMCA's are more accessible to companies, and looked down upon in youtube culture for the way that youtuber's have abused the system in the past), i doubt that this is going to do much, especially since the majority of sssniperwolf's audience is children, but hopefully some repercussions are met in the end, she is profiting off of it anyway. at the very least she could change her format and try to garner a slightly different audience, but asking that is basically telling someone to sell their cash cow for low job security which i don't see happening, especially when the person is rich since wealth often blinds people to morally negative things in regards to how they acquire their wealth.
That's a good point about unauthorized and uncompensated art curation. It's one of the reasons I find Pinterest so unethical.
Is the garden channel coming back in the future?
YES! I have a bunch of stuff I need to show, I just need to get back into the swing of recording and editing

This is a good idea. I should make one 🤔
Update: she showed up at jacks house and posted photos of it
"He's not making this about her looks, her gender, anything that would be considered bullying. It's just about the way she curates content."
Eeehh....
Sometimes content stealer sniperwolf doesn’t even react, she’s actually already in the middle of getting sued by her husband
Brief silly update: Sssniperwolf just doxxed Jacksfilms on her main Instagram account, so if you needed another legal issue, you’ve got it.
Not many people know that she used to be pretty big within the gaming community but stopped after I think 8 million subs
Edit:She also stole her style of thumbnail from another RUclipsr
Wait really?! The patented 1/3 red bar and soy face isn't even from Sniperwolf?
The thing is, if she would just spend a few seconds to credit the users there would be less backlash. Seems simple enough.
(Unrelated to Sniperwolf giving bad face to the platform and how I just want to promote this video with a comment)
I just love how Jack calls every player "Bingo babies"
Also this is unrelated, but for some reason I really like looking at your screen safer and seeing the cuts.
Thank you for both making Awesome Points and Awarding Awesome Points
She should speak to Daily Dose of Internet. He uploads (almost) every day, he pays people for the content he features, and he doesn't even need to react to them. He can just post them wholesale.
Woah I’ve never gotten 200 awesome points before! This is awesome! Specifically in an indiscernible increment of 200!
I think the person who does this well is Charlotte Dobre.
