Beautiful talk Venerable Sunyo! Thank you. I will remember that we can change our depressive feelings through behavior, thoughts and directly (metta meditation). 1. be kind to yourself and accept your depressive feelings and thoughts. Look for the motivation behind them (you are trying to protect yourself, on some level you care). 2. don't believe your exaggerated thoughts (I am always a failure, nobody loves me). They are not true. 3. exercise 4. have hope (everything is impermanent) 5. look for help in therapy and medication if needed (acceptance and commitment therapy or behavioral therapy) And thank you for expressing your love to the people who struggle. It means a lot to them.
Thank You Venerable Sunyo! Your joy, the simplicity and kindness of this talk do address this sad question and tackle it. This helped to feel better indeed. Sadhu sadhu sadhu 🤍🌟
i had never looked at what the term loving-kindness actually meant until today - thank you - some great questions too, very helpful to me - thank you too
Thank you Venerable Sunyo for this extremely valuable talk. I really appreciate for those steps and certainly will help me navigate through though time...Sabbe satta bhavantu sukhitatta May all beings be happy Sadhu 🙏 sadhu 🙏 sadhu 🙏
I myself had the experience of taking psychiatric help between 2020 and 2021 and this whole process was very important, mainly if you maintain the quality of observation of yourself. This Dhamma talk is very important and useful, the points exposed by the Venerable do make a lot of sense. My journey of self discovery and what guided me to Buddhism started at the very first thoughts of sadness.

I dont quite understand how the situation in Gaza relates to the Dhamma talk on dealing with depression. Why do you mention it? Any more than the antecedent terrorist rape and murder of Israeli would . Is this virtue signalling by the Ajahn ? You have a wide audience Sir please stick to Dhamma . I can get all the news comment from other channnels.
I believe the point he was making is about the difference between sadness and depression. As Sunyo said, depression is a general feeling with no particular underlying cause. Sadness has a cause in the world, and if you are living in Gaza you have good reason to feel sad.

Western Ajahn virtue signalling was my impression . Perhaps he may reflect . IN any case its a simple point i make . Dont lose your Samadhi over it . Otherwise his talk was very interesting and i thank him
Thanksgiving is happening in the USA... i am so thankful for the Monks and Nuns... with a lack of scrutiny... but enabling. So thankful of the Buddha! In my neighborhood we have the Amida Buddha. Na Mu Amida Butsu! ❤🎉 ONE Love! Across the planet.
Im saddened by my buddhist leaders... you take no actions ... make no real progression. Buddha will be my teacher while you sit and have pointless retreat.

Why is it not ok to mention it? It was just an example. I see no harm in that.
