That GP-30hh brings back alot of good memories and its good to see her in SRR colors but I REALLY wanna see my all time favorite in action...that F40ph is on my mind!...👀
A very nice video! Really cool to see what it’s like inside a former Southern High-hood GP30! Love the old cast Nathan P5 air-horn as well and the GP30 itself!
So glad you guys enjoyed that :D That was so much fun. Little fun fact to add to your info there, the GP30s were designed for, and in partnership with, the Reading Company. The very first GP30 ever built, Reading 5513, still survives at the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society Museum in Hamburg, PA. It and 3 other GP30s were debuted on the Reading System, in EMD Demo paint, and after the unveiling went on a nationwide tour for other roads to test. When their demo service was finished they came back to the Reading, however by that time, 13 other GP30s (5500 to 5512) had already been delivered, so the "first" ones were fit in to the numbering system.
Big Southern Railway fan here. Thanks for the sweet video. I have a question, I am modeling a typical Southern Railway diesel consist. Did the lead locomotive usually face long hood forward or did it really matter?

That locomotive has been to my stomping grounds a lot. Manassas Virginia.
I remember going inside the cab of one of these, that had stopped close to my house, when I was little.

I don't think it really mattered, you could face the train either way. It's the same as 620, you can use it either way.
Thank You
+bbrock RailFan I have also been in the cab of 2601, 620, and 6133 when I was 4-5 years old. All wonderful locomotives.
cool I am jealous lol. I love the black and gold colors with the infamous Southern logo.
+bbrock RailFan Very Beautiful aren't they (:
