You can totally hear the difference in these themes throughout the generations. From 1937 to 1977, firmly rooted in a classical foundation. Then a much more modern contemporary influence after 1977. Which I suppose makes sense when you consider the times and the new generations of viewers/kids. I believe it is why I rank the older films as "classics" compared to the newer ones. Not to say it diminishes the newer films. It's just not the same. Great job boys! 👍

To me, the older Disney music will always be the best. There’s just something so deep, magical, and serene about the music from films like Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Don’t get me wrong, I love the other movies, with Beauty and the Beast being one of my all-time faves. However, the music from the earlier period just hits differently.

More contemporary pieces were not composed for an instrument like the violin to take the melody line, that's for sure. It ends up being a bit of a square peg in a round hole sound. Going back to the stuff composed in the mid 20th century it had a much more euro-centric classical styling.

    • @xCindyLouWhox
      @xCindyLouWhox 2 года назад +25

Yep, it’s called phrasing and breaths lol (technical term luftpause). This is written into the music. It SHOULD be played as it would be sung. Breaths are very important in music, it’s like a mini rest and is needed to stay on time and get the phrasing of the passage right. Although breathing is not part of playing the instrument, you still physically need to take a breath there to get the timing correct. If you play a wind/brass instrument or are a vocalist, you are meant to actually take a breath, but for other instruments it is just a slight pause. Most people still physically take a breath though because you need the specific amount of time it takes to take a breath for that pause to be timed correctly. Just don’t gasp very loudly. 😂 It looks like ‘ in sheet music, sometimes it is notated and sometimes not. Breaths have their own value/measurement lol. You can hear the difference in playing when someone takes the time to stop and breathe and when they don’t. Sometimes this is meant to be a moment to reset your bow as well.

Cool to see Brett and Eddie play these movie anthems that aren't in their classical music forte. You can tell as time went on, the songs got more focused towards the different cultures the movies based on and not all of them fit with a violin as the musical instrument of choice but I appreciate the effort. (As a nitpick, Toy Story was made by Pixar before they were acquired by Disney so technically Disney had nothing to do with that movie's music unlike Brave which was created after the acquisition.)

I'd say for me my favorites would always be the films from the 90's and early 00's, probably cuz that's what I grew up with. Feeling lil bit nostalgic, sometimes. Maybe that's how it really is sometimes when you grow older.

Hey Brett and Eddy, I just found your stuff about a week ago and I’ve probably binged about 35% of your videos already.

In a week? So how much sleep have you gone without? Of course, if you skip the comments then it might be possible - but that's still some 430 odd vids!

@@wakingtheworld lol! I didn’t realize they had more than 1200 videos. I must be closer to 10% in that case

@@brianhood2363 Yep, been going 8 years and the last few they've churned out 5/6 vids a week, if you include their TikToks (which they upload to YT). Their very first cringe vid was deleted (though they paid a return visit to it later on) so I believe the first listed one is their 'Inception' TIME cover which was awesome. I put headphones on to get the full effect. It's like listening to an entire violin section!

I love Touch the Sky, and how Brett brought out that Celtic flavour in the melody ❤️❤️

I almost cried while Eddy played Remember Me! I could hear Eddy’s emotions pour out on that one

Thank you for this amazing video of the evolution of Disney music on the violin. Hearing it from you guys as a pianist wow I can tell the older films adapted better for the violin compare to the more current films by the change of style & foundations of the music. “Someday My Prince will come” is definitely a favorite for the classics & loved how Eddie played it beautiful like the singer herself. “Remember Me” personally is my favorite in the current because the story behind it really hits home with me about my Grandma

Hearing TwoSet play You've Got a Friend In Me, Almost There and Touch the Sky makes me want a TwoSet video about fiddle and folk violin. 😊

I loved this video! They both play so beautifully, I wish they did full covers, because it sounds beautiful! And it's very interesting watching them play, they get so immersed while playing and you can see how they feel every note, it's so wholesome!

"A dream is a wish your heart makes" made me tear up- so beautifully played, Cinderella was my favorite princess and I used to watch the trilogy all the time and pretend to be her
Thanks twoset for the wave of happier memories :,)

I’ve heard them say before that they rarely fight and when they do it’s not like fighting it’s just a slight discourse and they’re really calm and they work it out, but totally fought over who got to play let it go

I feel like Eddy was really getting into Let it Go... 😂
As a violinist who's a massive Disney and TwoSet fan, this is ideal content 👌🏻

The contemporary sound and music in the newer films is great, but I absolutely love the sound of the soundtracks from the old Disney films (1930s-1960s). There’s something magical about the sound of old recordings of music, even when it’s not Disney music.
