  • On November 22, 1963, Darwin Payne was working at his desk at the downtown Dallas Times Herald when the city editor declared, “Code 3, Dealey Plaza!” This led to the then twenty-six year old Darwin reporting on the most significant event of his career.
Darwin Payne, author of Behind the Scenes: Covering the JFK Assassination, shares this story at the Allen Public Library.
Interviewing a group of young women who worked for Abraham Zapruder, they shared that their boss had been filming the presidential motorcade. Darwin was led to the offices of Jennifer Juniors, Inc., a clothing manufacturer co-founded by Zapruder, in the Dal-Tex Building at 501 Elm St. On an office filing cabinet there was the famed Bell & Howell Zoomatic 8-mm camera that recorded what is arguably the most famous footage in American history.
Darwin interviewed detectives outside the School Book Depository as they transported evidence from the shooter’s location, including the rifle. He was also among a small number of journalists who were permitted to inspect the assassin’s sixth-floor window from where the fatal shots were thought to have been fired.
Darwin later earned a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, taught journalism at SMU for thirty years, and is the author of numerous books, including Indomitable Sarah: The Life of Judge Sarah T. Hughes.
The library is located at 300 N. Allen Dr. Call 214-509-4911 for additional information.

Let's think about this. Oswald fired the first shot through the trees, after at least two ricochets it his James Tague. Then (after no reaction from people trained to protect JFK) he shoots again and it causes seven wounds, JFK, Connally. Then again after ZERO reaction (All it would have taken was a swerve or acceleration of the car) Oswald shoots again and kills JFK. How lucky was that? Then...they arrest him about an hour+ later and he is dead within 48 hours. The luck to pull it off and the bad luck after.

@@h20s56Had law enforcement authorities been seriously interested in conducting a legitimate and rational investigation into the biggest crime since the assassination of Lincoln … they would surely have transferred Oswald to a “maximum security “ facility. Additionally, they would have interrogated him with multiple recorders. Interrogated him again and again and the trial would have gone forward. This was the “crime of the century”. Authorities wouldn’t have feared multiple interrogations since Oswald supposedly acted alone and would naturally not have revealed anything embarrassing or shocking… right ?!?!?

Not corroborated by anyone else. Buel’s sister said she saw nothing in his hands when he walked over from the Paine house as they left.
So he reassembled it and aligned the sight without being noticed? The sight was not well aligned according to the evidence.
If he was acting alone, the best shot would have been as the limo turned on to Elm when JFK was facing him head on only 6 floors below. If he had planned it, he would have been a few feet inside the window in the shadows where he would not be noticed from the outside.

This guy is a wealth of "Mis-information" ... I'm not sure who signs his paycheck, but he has so many facts wrong in his reporting (Oswald was the CIA/FBI patsy as Oswald had originally claimed when he was under arrest and being held by the Dallas Police Dept.).
Quite simply LBJ had the motive, opportunity and means/access to make this tragic event happen.
Malcolm "Mac" Wallace, who was LBJ's paid hitman was just one of the many "shooters" in the sniper teams which were present that fateful day in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, TX.
To believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was the "Lone Gunman" involved is just pure fiction. Yes, Oswald was there in the Texas School Book Depository, exactly where he was told to be by his CIA handlers ! There is just to much evidence which has been revealed and assembled to date which point to a mass conspiracy coordinated by key elements of the CIA-FBI-LBJ-Military Intelegence-MAFIA-ExCuban Patriots, which committed this heinous assassination of a sitting U.S. President, in plan sight of the public (which was the whole point of this event), AS WELL AS THE COVERUP of their crime which involved many branches of the then U.S. Governement. This EVIL still exists in our current U.S. Government which DOES NOT WANT the PEOPLE to know the truth ... even 60 years after they committed this treacherous act !
NOTE: See the RUclips video series "The Men on the Sixth Floor", narrated by Glen Sample, the author of the book of that same title (2010), which gives a better account of just some of the events which led to the crime of the 20th Century.

Yes, and at 20 minutes this Payne [not Paine] recounted Fascist demonstrators rocking Stevenson's car on 10-24-63. I had not heard of this before, only the placard hitting the UN Ambassador. The fact that a Kennedy cabinet official 's car was nearly turned over [and apparently DPD did nothing] only illustrates that the Secret Service should have been much better prepared on November 22 for multiple assassins. In fact, the SS did less protection than was provided in many other JFK motorcades.

I do wonder if the driver accelerated or broke during the shooting to affect momentum. I was also surprised they reinacted Oswald's walk from the Paine's to Tippet in under 15 minutes and Oswald going from the 6th floor to 2nd floor in 45seconds and not out of breath. "they reinacted Oswald's walk from the Paine's to Tippet in under 15 minutes": That should be surprising considering it was from Oswald's boarding house, not Mrs. Paine's house, and of course the distance, about .04 miles, can be done if you walk at a brisk pace.
"Oswald going from the 6th floor to 2nd floor in 45seconds and not out of breath.": Where did you get 45 seconds? the time was estimated at between 75 to 90 seconds without even running. Why should he be out of breath walking DOWN the stairs, not up.

Frazier's mother was standing at the kitchen window. She saw Oswald, and stated he had nothing in his hands except his lunch packet which he put in his pocket.

@@jetcat132you were there right? strange how nobody else that day saw this "package"... only Frazier and his sister. not even the mother who saw him arriving. nobody from the Paine house to the Frazier house saw a package. nobody on the street nobody from a window in their homes. NOBODY, not even colleagues at the TSBD. it was a fabricated illusion.

How many of you would keep your weapons in someone else's garage in a blankie? Lee was not even living there. Too many oddities in this set up.

What’s so odd about it? All of the Oswald’s belongings were stored at the Paine’s.
Oswald lived in like a tiny room, and he was still married to Marina, though separated. It’s not hard to believe she would have helped store some of his belongings, and he used to spend weekends with her and the kids at the Paine’s house.
