    My general understanding of the forehand groundstroke as it relates to body rotation, is just prior to contact, the body rotation is briefly paused, thus, allowing the racquet to gain momentum. Love the concept with the leg to leg weight transfer.

    I really appreciate this video and glad it popped up for me. I like the tips (bellybutton) when rotating, and how your wrist is at the point of contact. I have a tendency to rotate my hips faster than my arms and I feel myself slapping at the ball. But I can see that these tips will help my consistency and hopefully confidence.

    I agree. Stay on the outside foot. Angular swing is the modern swing. Linear is mostly history.

    Love to watch the ATP/WTA pros. Often, I can pull myself away from watching the ball and just watch the player in the foreground to see their groundstroke form. I often press Pause and touch the "," or "." to > frame by frame. In a previous video, you compared a tennis stroke to Indiana Jones wielding a bullwhip. I see many of the pros doing just that

    There definitely a weight transfer forward on most forehands to generate power. The head stays fixed to right with a momentary hip pause to allow the racket to whip thru and then the torso completes its rotation in the follow thru. There is variability to this depending on the directionality of the shot you want to produce. My suggestion is to take these concepts to the court and hit with a ball machine.

Though my future in tennis is on wheels (wheelchair tennis), I am still interested in rotation (chair instead of hips) and generating “effortless power”.       Trust me this is not correct, all these are secondary movers. With proper technique it's all about how fast you accelerate your hand!!! Your hand is the primary mover and should pull your hips and shoulders through contact!! Go try it out try to accelerate your hand as fast as possible with correct technique.

      Is not the racket. Just learn the stroke. :)

      @@haroldho19 It's not the racquet per se, but it's much easier to learn the stroke with a racquet that is suited best for you. There are so many differences in racquets (weight, balance and grip size), strings and tensions, that they actually do have an effect on the learning process. Finding an 'ideal' racquet is a bit of a process, but many would usually fill the bill. Demos are a good source to narrowing that down. Having written that, Nadal, Federer and Djokovic etc could hit really well with just a tree branch.

      @@sergeilutzak2479 Yes! I agree. I found my racket, Babolat Pure Drive 107 with Tecnifibre HDX tour string 50 lbs with thin lead tape around 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. It was done by my small local tennis shop owner. Over 20 years of teaching experience and over 25 years of stringing experience. I am very fortunate :)

    Ideally, the hips and shoulders stop rotating when the shoulders are about square to the target and the momentum is transferred to the arm which continues forward through the hitting zone. Then the shoulders and hips turn to keep the arm from stopping too abruptly. In the real world this seldom happens and there are varying degrees of slowing of the turn as the body squares up and that momentum is transferred into forward motion of the arm.

      Yes you rotate, but not as much as the forehand.

    Recreational tennis players don’t need all that power swinging like a pro. Yes, you gonna have more power but way less accurate. Unless you’re training 7 hours a day since a little kid, that kind of swing is not for you. Wrist stable during the contact point and hip rotation is the key. Like the pro women’s. Forget nadal, Federer , djokovic…that’s not for you. Look for beeing regular, forget about power.

      I wish coaches would use more WTA players as examples. But I guess that won’t attract viewers, as everyone thinks they can hit the 🎾 like Rafa or Federer

      Looks like you really didn't understand the coach! Power is not the goal. Power comes from proper form...such as that displayed by Nadal, Federer, Djokovic etc! Once you have proper form ingrained you can increase the 'power' by accelerating the head through contact even more...but always with the proper form! The women pros do exactly what the men do, but they cannot have the same power because...we are DIFFERENT!!
