aside from many mistakes, I thought the 'mons insperation from real animals is present in thier names. Example Emboar- ember + boar (wild pig), Chattot- chatter + parrot. It all seems pretty obvious if you break down the names and add a touch of wimsy and humor.

Omanyte and ommastar, being fossil types, were actually based on ammonites. Nautilus’ tentacles are not that long compared to the ammonite’s.
Yeah that may be the main inspiration for those but thar doesn't mean they don't have characteristics of those other types. Pokemon creatures are just a amalgamation of different animals
