  • In this video I caught Rip Grande cichlids in the bayous of Louisiana. It's an invasive species and I show you how to cook them.

    Man, I just love this video. The first couple minutes are where it’s at. Being a dad and husband gives meaning to everything else in life. It’s all worth it.
    I have three boys similar ages to yours, and it feels like there isn’t ever time. But the work you’re doing before 9 and after 12 is the real deal. And when you get them out on the water one day soon and have that trip of a lifetime, they’ll be all the more happy because you laid the right foundation.

    Rio Grande cichlid is a new one for me. Beautiful fish and I'm glad they taste good too. Yep I started fishing farm ponds and small creeks dipping worms as a kid.

    I too will keep a little bass i catch while bream fishing. The tears of the bass fisherman help keep the fish nice and moist.

    Next time your fishing in the bay take a 5g bucket and your corn. Soak it a couple hours in the salt water then onto the bbq.
    Awesome with any fish....

    Do some more bank fishing. Sorry I'm late! Can you get a crappie video together? Right eyes are the best cut of meat, and to season them, I use a 50/50 mix of black pepper and garlic salt. Try it, man, it's awesome! And , I also keep them basted with butter while on the grill.

    Put the fun back in fishing, I’ve fished some really high end places, all over the continent.
    I’m still at peace, near the water, with a wet line... my grandkids are very young but very soon this is what’s in store. Who dosnt like shore fishing!

    Hot rocky streams are its natural habitat...we've made a whole lot of cichlid habitat in the last generation

      Tilapia and Rio Grandes are all cichlids, so I bet they do taste similar.

      @@ballistic350 I'll be honest they all kinda taste the same to me fried. I like bluegill because I grew up a yankee and we didn't have crappie, cichlids, and our only invasive were carp.
