I went up the Shard on the opening day. The tickets are £24 each. London Eye is £19. In the London Eye, which is good, I had a view from 442 feet for about thirty minutes, the time thing being because I didn't have the choice, it's essentially a ride. In the Shard, I had a view from 800 feet from two separate floors and I spent three and a half hours there with my friends. You're invited into the Shard and can stay as long as you want. PRICE WORTH IT
FYI Albuquerque NM USA has 10,100 ft observatory on top of Sandia Peak that has a 90+ mile view in every direction with no smog/fog as far as you can see. Look up Sandia Tram it takes you up 5000 ft in 12 minutes to the High Finance Bar&Grill.
You have a half hour slot to get to The Shard but can spend as long as you like once you're there. No queuing! Get your facts straight before you ruin what is a great achievement and a great day out.
It's not cutting-edge and it's not particularly tall by world standards, but I really like it. We have good reason for building new tall buildings in the UK. Although what we especially need is more apartment buildings. Granted in so many cities (especially in east Asia) tall apartment buildings are a monotonous blight, but in the UK they're so rare a few more should be welcomed.
People will still go, that's why there's no point in decreasing their price, there making a profit from it so why not? I'm going to visit soon hopefully. But if you don't want to visit this place for the price then you could just go to the Heron tower and get a breakfast for £12 but you only get about a 180 degree view.
I visited London with my family and there is a Shard video of my Grandpa and I they use that came out great. See it here...ruclips.net/video/zL1PnA698Zc/видео.html The video can be skipped to 2:40 to see the London Shard.

It's great that London does all this stuff.

Thanks, Jack, for the useful information!

Quickly reminding me of Steve Jobs's "Think profit"! Great, even if a bit expensive, indeed!
$90? I thought when he said we'd be offset by the price it'd be like $31,000
totally agree love the eye but value for money shard all the way
the views may be nice, but half an hour? £16 for 20 minutes would have been a better price point.
£15 for 30 minutes would have been a better price point.

London needed another block of flats.
Since the summit of Tower the horizon is flat all around.
+rolirMat56 And?? what level should it be?
Its only curved from very high up.

Uau
Horrible, ugly buildnig. They've destroyed the panorama of London for the decades.
