    I always carry a knife, a flashlight, a gun, a phone, a front pocket bill fold I made. Also I carry a swiss army small knife for the tweezers, and scissors mostly, I was always glad I had tweezers when I got a splinter in my hand. I carry a lighter also and I don't smoke. I have a place to shoot so I always have ear protection on me in a small container. I have several holsters for concealment according to the weather or what I'm doing. Enjoy your video's. It's good to see law enforcement as a gun guy too, especially as a Sherrif. You have a lot of good information that I use.

    Great video. I carried a M9 for a couple decades in the military. The G conversion is a definite upgrade. Now I mostly carry revolvers. I am more likely to run into bears, wild dogs or wild land meth cookers than anything else. I also carry a swiss army knife plus a keychain swiss army knife. Can't have too many toothpicks!

    I ❤️ my 92FS’s (plural.). I carried one on duty for about 22 years in my 34 years as a cop in LA. (Later switched to the USP 45, then a Glock 17 gen5 a couple years before retiring). I never ever saw nor heard of an incident where anybody myself included, that forgot to get the safety flipped “off” when they needed the Beretta 92FS in a gunfight.
    Nor did I ever see nor hear of anybody that accidentally flipped the safety “on” when needing the gun. I think that is a myth that’s been proven to be a bogus one. The department really engrained in us that when the gun was coming out of the holster, you instinctively sweep the safety “up” with one’s thumb. And in LA, we collectively got involved in a BUNCH of OIS’s (shootings), while all using the 92’s and before other brand guns finally got authorized for carry.

    I really enjoy your videos, this was very informative. I also have carried a pocket Swiss Army pocket knife , but I keep forgetting that at events and hospitals they consider it a weapon, had to take it back to my car. Keep the videos coming when you can, most enjoyable and informative.

    You should put a mini-pocket clip on your Victorinox, it's usually for keys, but it's superb on those knives. I tried it, and since now, i carry my Vic Compact everyday without even noticing it. It's a game changer !

    My edc is damn near the exact same except my leatherman is a rebar. I have a little keychain swiss army knife for toothpick and ink pen...very handy! I still carry strong side hip but I've found that having perry suspenders (they hook onto your belt) distributes the gun's weight across my shoulders enough that my back doesn't hurt. I don't know if you've tried that or not.

      @@SheriffMattOller I know a handful of retired police and a lot of them have back issues from carrying guns and equipment on that belt for decades. It’s a tough job. i’d say enjoy the MRI but they’re not really enjoyable. I’ll just leave with aI hope they find something that’s treatable!

  • @wherecar54

    Unusual to see someone wearing a full size 92FS, I distinguished out using one, but they are big and heavy although with a shoulder rig you wouldn’t notice the weight as much. I prefer the Glock 19 or the 43. The 92 has such a long trigger pull for the double action coupled with a manual safety the Glock has more simplicity. Gen 5 Glock with the performance trigger is an advanced firearm.

    Hi, sherrif, may I also suggest a 8" x 16 oz leather flat black jack , I'm sure you know what a edge that can give those of us getting older and slower. Great vid stay safe!

  • @MattAlbaneze
    @MattAlbaneze 6 месяцев назад

    Thanks for your reply , my friends dad was a cop in Jackson Mississippi during the 60's, I asked him once, how did you survive all the violence and bigger, stronger, more numerous law breakers.? He showed me a short flat blackjack he kept in his right rear pocket. It was very well worn and rubbed raw. He said he would give the uncivilized a love tap to get them in the patrol car. Backup and radios were less consistent back then. So my point is if your in a area, and multiple bad guys roam and attack the old and slow, vulnerable weaker citizens. It makes sense, and is 2nd ammendment backed up. To use any means to survive a assault by these criminals, Including a blackjack. In confined spaces, it's the less lethal best choice for self defense. Current state law or not. I have the utmost respect for law and order, but sometimes conditions call for tactics and weapons that may be branded illegal by the less life experienced., not street wise people. Better to be tried by 12, than buried by 6.

    Great video! You definitely covered the bases! One question tho? Why a Beretta 92? It's a brick that doesn't do your back any good! Plenty of firearms out there that out shoot it and half the weight!

    • @SheriffMattOller
      @SheriffMattOller  6 месяцев назад +1

      Why not a Beretta? Carry guns are a personal preference, not a rule. What's it matter as long as it's something you'll carry?
      And "outshoot it"? What guns outshoot others? It's the shooter, not the gun.

      It's not everyday. Most days it's a 1911 for me.
      As far as guns go, Beretta is in the top 3 for me. I shoot it well, the ergos are friendly to me, good capacity, and it has nearly 40 years of proven dependability as a combat firearm.
      To each their own, but carry something!

    • @SheriffMattOller

      No. We are guided by Policy. There are numerous approved pistols. We don't have a 'standard' issue.

  • @longgone9869

    That is interesting, a shoulder holster for recreational use. The truth of the matter is I don't know many people who wear shoulder holsters anymore.
    I have a question for you, are you able to draw that weapon without flagging your support arm ? The moment I saw your belt rolled up as tightly as it was, with all the holes in it, I just knew it wasn't a standard gun belt.
    I usually carry a flashlight in my vehicle and if I assume I will be out after dark but it will be in my left front pocket. Also I've taken to carrying a container of POM pepper spray and when wearing long pants, and ankle first aid kit. The kit from Warrior poets Society is very comfortable and I actually forget it is there by
    Love that miniature wallet

    • @SheriffMattOller
      @SheriffMattOller  6 месяцев назад

      There's a method that serves 2 purposes with a shoulder rig. It moves the gun closer to the hand and prevents flagging of your off arm. Maybe I'll do something on that.

    Always found it weird that the US Army brought the 92F , at all , given the decock/safety was a totally flawed design , my cousin brought one , and he went to fire , and he racked the slide & also flipped the lever down , only to NOT be able to fire .
    I got him to lay the pistol down , I cleared it , and demo what he had done with a empty pistol .
    IF they still wanted the 92 , should have done what the French did , and speced it as a G version .
