Peacocks are large, colorful pheasants typically blue and green and known for their iridescent tails. Many people ask if peacocks are birds of paradise, to which the answer is no - a bird of paradise belongs to a totally seperate family of birds.These tail feathers of the peacock, or coverts, spread out in a distinctive train that is more than 60 percent of the birds total body length and boast colorful "eye" markings of blue, gold, red, and other hues. The large train is used in mating rituals and courtship displays. It can be arched into a magnificent fan that reaches across the bird's back and touches the ground on either side. Females are believed to choose their mates according to the size, color, and quality of these outrageous feather trains.
The term "peacock" is commonly used to refer to birds of both sexes. Technically, only male bird is a are peacock. Females are peahens, and together, they are called peafowl.
Suitable males may gather harems of several females, each of which will lay three to five eggs. In fact, wild peafowl often roost in forest trees and gather in groups called parties.
Peacocks are ground feeders that eat insects, plants, and small creatures. There are two familiar peacock species. The blue peacock lives in India and Sri Lanka, while the green peacock is found in Java and Myanmar (Burma). A more distinct and little-known species, the Congo peacock, inhabits African rain forests.
Peacocks can be noisy, they have a very loud high-pitched meow like sound . They call a lot during the mating season. Dawn and late evening is a favourite time for this.

Peacocks legit look like creatures from some alien world that got stuck in our dimension somehow. Like something out of a sci fi movie. Love these guys and it blows my mind every time

It's amazing the peacock's feathers are designed to look like a hundred eyes staring at you in startling arrangement as it suddenly springs open its feathers. God is the master artist and engineer.

Evolution has no need for flamboyance nor exuberance. What these feathers facilitate could easily be achieved through more simplistic means. Evolution would prefer the path of least resistance, and this ain’t it.

Peacock's population is increasing in a rapid rate only for Indian peafowl and white peafowl. And all other species are decreasing in a rapid rate. I love peacock,I love my India.

The peacock signifies pride. From the way it opens it’s feathers, and shakes it. I had seen one up close, so I know whenever it displays it’s beautiful feather it does it in a gesture of pride. As proud as a peacock makes sense to me

Incredible. But I also like the silly little flowers growing out of their head. They are the perfect combination of exotic, regal, haughty and comedic.
It never even looked in the mirror.... It just *knows* it's feathers are mesmerizingly alluring and beautiful.
I've only been lucky enough to see them on display once or twice as a kid (uncle's neighbor had a peacock and a peahen, my uncle's rooster did not like the peacock at all) but I just can't get over how magnificent so many creatures are. I'd love to observe these birds in the wild

What causes Time?
I watched peacocks at Cardiff Castle for hours, the males displaying their plumage. As the sun set I watched as the hens flew up to roost for the night in the trees. After all hens were roosted, then the procession of males one by one flew up to roost for the night. I will never forget that wonderful experience. Peacocks are the most wondrous birds, I love their call to one another, their plumage. Thanks for this video!

My grandfather raised exotic birds. He had a set of white and blue. Sometimes they would escape and the neighbors knew to call him.

No point in denying it, there was one point in my life that these birds and their features used to scare the shit out of me, it was one of my phobias at the time. Now, I've gotten over it, thank god, but I'd still panic if it unfurled its feathers in front of me.
