Reminds me of my very first dog show. Emma Lee did great. She has a natural gift. She tries to make sure her heifer is parked right when she stops. She pays attention to the judge. She has a genuine gift. Super proud of both of them.
Oh, this brought back such memories! My whole family was in 4H and my older brother showed sheep. I loved hanging out in the barns and watching the judging. You have every right to be very proud of both of them - they did great!

Every child should learn something like this. Whether it’s handling farm animals, growing vegetables or even working on a farm for at least one summer. The kids did great Daniel. Houston just showed out too! Great video!
My nieces lived near San Francisco. They were able to raise chickens and rabbits for 4H and one competed at the State Fair with sewing.
This is a very good experience for all youngsters! This way they learn about the animals and it shows these kids that the animals have their own personality! They meet new friends and maybe even some new interesting hobbies and new people!

They ALL did fantastic! Both heffers did very well for their first ever show. Pearl amazed me with how calm she was, and did very well with Houston. He handled her better than I thought he would. He's definitely good with animals too!

Oh Emily! That was so sweet and endearing when your show heifer got out of the carrier and ran and kicked up her heels as she joined her little heifer family. "I am a happy cow! A happy happy happy cow." Shows how much she loves you and is happy to be home where you are! IMO

Nice 4H shirt, we never had shirts with the 4H logo when I showed livestock when I was a kid.
Pearl has pretty eyes. A very pretty heifer, who has come a long way with Houston's hard work.
Butterscotch likes to sing, "Mooo!" And Emmalee has done a great job with her.

Well sure we want to see more of the kids showing animals. It is part of the farm life. My kids are grown and lived in town and never got to do this. I am retired now and children are grown. I enjoy watching your children around the farm, also hunting and growing up. I enjoy watching your wife buying new animals that make her happy and you developing your farm and gardens. Thank you for sharing your life and the life of your family. It is why I keep coming back. Love you guys and thank you for your time in making the videos. Great job kits! Great job parents for taking time in your children's lives and raising some awsome children who will become great adults some day we hope.

I have said before...firm believer in some type of thing for kids to be involved in...I was in scouting from 7-18, we have family that is heavily involved in sports and we also have family that is heavily involved in showing animals...these are all great things for kids to learn to participate in an event that involves others, teaching compromise, teaching them morals, responsibility, hard work, doing the best they are capable of and learning to accept not only wins but losses as well, all with grace...these are the years that form a child's personality and shows WHO they are and what they stand for...IMO, this is my America at it's finest! Congrats to the Arms Family!

My kids showed livestock (of all species) for many years. It’s a lot of work but it was very rewarding. They did a beautiful job. Charolais hair is a lot of work. Emily did a great job at keeping that head up too. They should feel proud of what they accomplished.

How perfect that all 3 of your kids are winners! EmmaLee looked every bit the country girl with her hair in braids. If Houston had a Stetson he'd look like a mini George Strait. I couldn't hear how much each heifer got in the auction. Can you recap? Will you keep the heifers, sell them, or butcher them? Pearl may be small, but she sure looked pretty in the ring.
I am pretty sure they have to put them up for auction afterwards, well that was the way it was when I was in 4-H and FFA. That is how they raised money for the clubs...but that was 50 years ago so, it might be different now.
I could barely hear it either, we should check out the closed caption "CC" and see if it was able to translate that, sometimes it just writes gobbledygook when the person is not wearing a mic or isn't facing the camera.

Nancy Montgomery I finally turned on my cc. It didn’t help a bit! I think I remember Daniel saying that the heifers would go back to the original owner, they were only borrowed to raise and train and return after the show. The kids get to keep the auction money though according to how he explained it n this video. Congratulations to ALL 3 Arms kiddos plus Mom and Dad! That’s a LOT of hard work but well worth it!
The heifers are always kept for breeding stock and will one day have a show calf of their own ❤ they will go back to their original owner (their family member)
We have been thew 15 years of 4H with tow grandsons they did the steers and pigs it is a great time and wonderful for them. This is our one grandsons last year for it and we will miss doing the show after he is done. Job well done keep on with it!!!

Yes, it was nice to see the kids show their heifers. As Pearl was tough with Houston and he seemed intimidated by her in the beginning he did really well and so did Pearl. You could tell Houston was nervous more so than Em. You could tell they learned so much in a short time. One thing Houston said that he is nervous he won’t win. He has won by taking on something he was intimidated by. I hope he learns with age that life isn’t always about winning but by what he learns and taking a challenge head on. Em really impressed me from the word go. She was like a sponge from the first thing you showed her. To helping Houston especially when you could tell he wasn’t totally comfortable like bathing Pearl. Looking forward to seeing video of Weston playing in regionals.
Tell Emily and Houston for me that I loved watching them and they did a wonderful job. They both are winners in my book.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I loved being in 4-H when I was a kid! I didn't know that it was still around. So glad that it does still exist in some places. You kids did great work with those animals, they looked beautiful and healthy. Now celebrate all the work you did.

I think it’s a wonderful experience for children. Stay active. It keeps them busy and out of trouble. Their minds are challenged and they learn to get the animals respect to succeed. Animals are the best life lessons for kids.
