This Temple Road takes you right past the State U of Fredonia, about a mile away. Were I went to college in the early-mid 1970s. And watched many Conrail and N&W (on a parallel single-track main) trains. There was a big westbound Conrail derailment right here at Temple on the morning of Dec 19, 1972. Photos were on the front page of the daily Dunkirk Evening Observer.
As a railfan since age 5, I went from hating how Conrail teased me (no major Conrail lines in Columbus, OH), to wishing I would've seen the traffic along the major lines, whether in Toledo, Cleveland, along Lake Erie, or through Pennsylvania. I've seen some here & there as a youth but never knew of the major traffic until the transition already took place. Oh well. You were certainly fortunate to have been near such a busy set of lines.
