I love that the trailer barely showed chucky moving and kept it a surprise which is what I love about the creativity of horror in 80s/90s
Yeah, movie trailers today give away the entire plot and show you parts of nearly every scene. The Pet Sematary remake is a great example of that, and it even managed to give away a huge plot twist that should have been a surprise until the theatrical release. That was awful.
me momo me live
Could you imagine seeing this trailer, then going to the movies and really questioning if the murderer was the Chucky doll or a deranged six year old (before the internet could deliver spoilers), then seeing the first scene almost halfway through the movie confirming the doll is in fact alive? This was low key genius marketing at the time. I would’ve shat my pants in the theatre.
I just said this, I totally agree

@Marcelo Medeiros uh… duh.
@@rosangelasantos8511 ccct nnbb 8 criterios feo
no because the movie literally spoils the doll being alive in the very first scene
The part where he slashed the guy from underneath the bed was terrifying. I always looked under the bed as a kid. Thanks chuck. I hope this franchise never dies. Because Chucky never dies.
But you will die soon
P.s chucky 😂
Whenever I went down certain steps I’d be terrified he would cut me, like in child’s play 2
Seriously 😂 I was thinking the exact same thing.
Without a doubt one of the most iconic killer doll movies ever made considering that it was about a serial killer possessed doll. Add to the fact that it was the first movie in the Child's Play series makes it even more iconic and unforgettable.
Llp😊😊

Doll killer movies did existed before this like 1964’s Devil Doll, 1978’s Magic, 1985’s Making contact aka Joey, 1987’s Dolls to trilogy of terror
@@Johnlindsey289 I know that. It's just that out of all of the killer doll movies ever made Child's Play is the movie that everyone thinks of considering that it's the #1 movie that they think of when they think about those types of movies.
True like you said the fact that the doll was a serial killer spirit leading to the first movie in the franchise makes it very memorable and iconic for sure
This is how a teaser should look like
classic. Brad Dourif is iconic as his voice
I was 8 years old when this trailer made the rounds on cable and it gave me nightmares for weeks. Animatronics was kinda primitive back then, but this movie looked totally believable at the time, way more than Puppet Master.
Happy 35th anniversary! Saw it in theaters when I was six when I lived in Omaha with my family
They way they made chucky talk and move back in the late 80s when our technology was not able to make those animations as it can today was really cool
Movies were better back then bc of it.
@@zepole87 I mean in the case of child’s play the main series rarely uses cgi even in more recent instalments like cult of chucky in 2017 and the current show

The feet pitter patting along without actually seeing Chucky were the creepiest for me.
Wow, even till this day, the chilling affects of this trailer cuts right through 😱.
I loved when trailers were like this!
Back when Chucky was no joke unlike Bride and Seed.
Yeah they should of never made bride and seed and the other last 2 part 3 was the last movie for me
In the first 3 films I felt sorry for Andy, despite the fact that him and Tommy Jarvis have a lot in common killing the same homicidal maniacs over and over again.
@@aidanfox8219 so which part was the last movie for you
@@omarlopes5762 Cult Of Chucky was the last movie
He was always funny. 😑
I think I was not much older than 6 or 7yo when I watched Chucky with my older brother, back in 95/96. He managed to traumatise me for years with this movie hahaha I remember having to ask my mom to check not only under the bed but also the corners of the bedroom because Chucky could easily fit in there. We still laugh about it up to these days
Still one of my favorites! We will be putting our Chucky dolls out for Halloween soon.😁
I had an immense fear of dolls as a small child (and even to some degree now). This rocked me to my core when I was little.
Happy 35th anniversary to this amazing cult classic! Such a long way our friend to the end has come
This movie scared me so much when I was little. I wanted to watch Child's Play with my family, so we did, and it wasn't a great movie for me at a young age, I also heard that Child's Play is rated 18+ so I wasn't supposed to watch it, but I kept on convincing my parents with my begging. We only watched half of the movie because my mom had enough of the horror in it. I should've not watched it though, well, I was only little that time, so I didn't know. But here is some practical advice: If you have a child that wants to watch an 18+ horror movie, decline immediately and do not listen to your child's begging. Also, thank you so much for making this video! I really appreciate it. Have a nice day everyone! ❤
Started watching horror movies when I was 10 and never stopped since then
I was 18 when this came out (53 now) and still remember the trailer....thinking oh this might be good. Maybe it was a modern take on the old-fashioned "killer doll" idea but the original movie was pretty satirical really.....the puppetry/animatronics were superb, Brad Dourif totally sold it and there was real effort spent on this.
This is how it all started! Who do you think is the scariest? Chucky or Tiffany?
Tiffany is def crazy, but Chucky is PSYCHO NUTS!! So...gotta go with Chucky.

Chucky the Good Guy Doll, slashing people getting in his way since 1988
Just watched this with my 8 year old after not having seen it since like 1990. A great night, what a blast!
You really think it’s appropriate for such a little kid?
The best scene in the entire franchise is when Chucky first comes to life. I can only imagine being in a theatre and seeing that for the first time in a full room hahah.

Thus, a great franchise was born.
This movie is a horror classic masterpiece the characters, music and atmosphere were all pure gold the suspense was terrifying in this one still to this day for me is the scariest one in the franchise I'm happy for how far this series has come:)
If MGM dropped a 4K I’d buy it so fast.
Cool.
Shout! is releasing a 4K set in August along with 4K releases of the first two sequels.
everyone talks about childs play 2 but nobody talks about this one

This movie trailer just dropped 15 minutes ago, check it out. I think this movie may become a classic..
1 and 2 were brilliant and scary then it turned into a comedy.

There’s nothing comedic about this masterpiece put some respect on this
It’s a Suspense Horror Thriller

Welllp. Great job traumatizing children of the late 80's/early 90's

Oh my god I just realized this movie is so old!
Child's Play (also known colloquially as Chucky) is an American horror comedy media franchise created by Don Mancini. The films mainly focus on Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif in the original films and television series, and Mark Hamill in the reboot with Brad Dourif partially voicing the character in the reboot), a notorious serial killer who frequently escapes death by performing a voodoo ritual to transfer his soul into a "Good Guy" doll. The original film, Child's Play, was released on November 9, 1988. The film has spawned six sequels, a television series, a remake, comic books, a video game, and tie-in merchandise. The first, second, and fourth films were box office successes with all of the films earning over $182 million worldwide. Including revenues from sales of videos, DVDs, VOD and merchandise, the franchise has generated over $250 million.[1] It also won a Saturn Award for Best Horror Franchise.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's Chucky!!!!!
They didn’t show any on screens of Chucky being responsible because it wanted to make this preview look like Andy was responsible like it’s a double meaning for this title.

The website In 70mm claims this trailer played in theatres with the movie Willow. I find that really hard to believe. All of the kids in those theatres were probably crying before the movie started.
