Nice! the Dozier is such a reliable budget knife too. I think the Penguin will be in good company :) there are alot of scale finishes and blade options (D2, Damascus, S35vn) so if it's something you like, the cost to upgrade won't be that much. Enjoy it in good health!
Bought the Green Micarta Penguin. Great knive for its price. Ordered the Jeans Micarta. Currently in backorder in The Netherlands. So I'll have to wait......
You will not be disappointed! I waited some time here in the States after the Jean micarta version sold out, and while it took a while, I got one, and it was worth the wait :) There are also the S35vn variants now that are available, although it is exclusive (I believe) to KnivesPlus (in micarta and carbon fiber) for like $59/$69. Crazy good deals from an OEM knife manufacturer!
@@DailyCarrySolutions . Thanks for your response. I'm totally satisfied with D2 steel for my needs. S35 vn would be overkill for me. I'm not a steel snob. I use my knives well and want a steel that holds an edge but is easy (....) to sharpen. Had response of my retailer and the Jeans Micarta will take several weeks to arrive. Hope with christmas. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Great suggestion! I may do one in the near future. It definitely warrants more exposure as it's a surprisingly simple, yet effective knife. Thanks for checking out the video, Spike.
Highly competitive in the budget knives... I really appreciate QSP deep-carry clip design & “Blue Jean” Micarta color! It would be interesting to test which D2 steels, being the usual quality standard starter, has more edge retention & strength durability in the popular China Co. budget lines; against Civivi, CJRB, QSP?!?!
In all likelihood, the OEM steel provider for all 3 is likely the same company, and the knife district there is very small, so it wouldnt surprise me to find they all are extremely similar. Plus, for the price, I wouldnt bet my money that it's past 61HRC. Alot of people want a cheap steel that will hold up with use and won't break their back to sharpen, but you see so many people who splurge for $200+ knives and complain when they have to sharpen em. D2 tool steel (heat treated right) has only big weakness, and that's corrosion resistance. Other than that, when treated correctly, it's much more difficult than production D2, but you won't see anything that high up in the Rockwell scale when buying a budget chinese knife.
lol! BURN! jk I like it due to its size for office as well as out of office knife duties, altho based on sales and accolades they will likely have a larger one in the future. Don't quote me on that though! :)
I do, for a few reasons. 1) easy deployment with the thumbstuds allow you to use it with or without gloves. 2) blade shape is meant for more industrial style tasks and a nice piercing tip that is reinforced by the blade thickness makes it a great tool in your pocket, and 3) phosphor bronze washers will not allow debris in to affect the action like bearings will. This is also very easy to take apart and provided you do not have large hands, will fit very well in your palm swell when using it. I highly recommend it as one of the best 2020 releases under $30
@@DailyCarrySolutions brilliant, really appreciate the response. This seems like an inevitable purchase for me, no matter how much I would want to turn away haha.
If looking for more of a full-size folder with a similar blade shape in your price range, I'd check out the Barranca from CJRB. It's a 3.5" blade flipper, though... Link here: www.bladehq.com/item--CJRB-Barranca-Liner-Lock-Knife-Blue--105573
Why doesn’t your knife have the other 2 screws on the other side if you were to switch the pocket clip to the other side, mine came with the screws holding the pocket clip and 2 more on the other side
Interesting - I need to look into that! My Penguin came this way from the online retailer that I purchased it from (KnivesPlus), but it could be that they added the screws in newer versions of the knife?
So I looked into some videos I took when I first got the knife (I've had it for a while, just don't like to post videos until I've gotten some carry/use time out of them) and can tell you that this one didn't come with the extra 2 screws. I've already disassembled, cleaned and stropped it to so I would have known if I had some extra parts lying around LOL! My CJRB small Feldspar came in with the 2 screws on the show side but this one did not. Interesting... I really don't mind it personally but am glad you caught that!
BTW- Noticed you are a sub with Hickok45 and James Yeager. Both great channels! Believe it or not Hickok45 made a quick cameo in my FN firearms video at Shot Show 2020 (you can see him fiddling around with some firearms in the background).
It's definitely meant for a target market, but is arguably one of the best actions on a knife that rides on washers sub $30 at the moment, and that's saying alot given the competition. It's filling a niche/void that wasn't there before and is selling well too.
Can't wait to get mines Wednesday I should have brought one long time ago
Budget knives just keep getting better and better!
It's a good time to be broke! hahaha
Totally agree man! I’m so impressed with it!!
Just ordered one. Gonna replace my kabar dozier which I’ve had for a year. Man I love the look of this knife!

I'm loving that blue jean micarta. You're making me want to buy yet another knife, Carlos. :)
They're awesome! I can lend you mine to check out if interested
I like the super clean lines. Simple shape. Thanks.
You bet!

Glad to hear that it will be on its way, but unfortunate that it is delayed. Let me know what you think once you receive it.
Thanks for the video. I would love to see a disassembly video. I think it's a sheepsfoot blade.

@@DailyCarrySolutions Good insight here.
Great review Carlos this one is going to be one of my next knives and I agree a larger size would be cool as well it could be the emperor penguin lol
LOL Good name!
Solid review !
Thank you for watching, John!
Super smooth! Awesome micarta and sweet action, really digging this little knife. I would be down with a man sized version though

What a fantastic knife. Great video. Thank you for sharing this with us 🍻
Thanks chief!
Got one coming in Jean micarta!
Excellent choice 🔥🔥🔥
Got one coming in denim micarta, hopefully Drop actually ships them on time, LOL.
Do you think this would hold up for some moderately hard use?

Make a larger size with 3.75 inch blade in D2 for 50ish dollars and I would buy it
