Very cool interview with Quorthon inside the L'amours rock club on Octover 30, 1987.
Vying for anonymoity, Quorthon was recognized by the guys in Slayer and after signing autographs, Qourthon agreed to an interview in a very laid-back atmosphere. I got this in a tape trade many, many years ago one down from the master tape, and since there's no real way for Bathory to show up here since they made no demos or played live, hopefully some Bathory fans like myself will dig this. Sadly, it cuts off and to the best of my knowledge, the tape recorder cut without the taper's immediate knowledge, so this is
supposedly all there is.

Wow great upload man. Quorthon explains so much here! One thing he really clears the air on is the mystery and lack of exposure surrounding the early version of the band, something I always wondered about.
It wasn't in 1987, it was 1986. I was there. Possessed were headlining, and Slayer were there to promote Reign In Blood, which came out a week later. My friend recognized Quorthon and talked to him. I stood there and had no clue who Quorthon was. Now I know!

This interview could have only taken place in 1987 because towards the end of the interview, they discuss the release of Bathory's third record "Under the Sign of the Black Mark" which would be released the week this interview was being conducted as you can hear them say at 11:13.
I have this full show on cassette with the Slayer cameo at the end.Does anyone have the video? Killer set!! Must have also tied into 1 of Quorthons “don’t tell anyone I’m coming” record store Appearances he loved doing.
It would be impossible for this to be from 1986 as Quorthon mentions a song from Under the Sign of the Black Mark that wasn't yet recorded in 1986. He also mentioned "Autumn 1986" in the past tense.
This is gem of an interview. Probably the first I ever heard from these early years. Everything available has been '90s +
photo and interview are unrelated except both being in NYC. Photo is october 1986, interview is october 1987.
