Way to stay with it! Medina county Texas GMRS Folks Rock thier Radios and Repeater ! Congratulations on React status ! Giving back to the community with public service being strong all very American Brotha man !
As they say, height is might. Nice setup. I just stumbled across your channel this morning. I think you're slightly out of range from me in Converse, TX. But with our HOA, I plan to put an Ed Fong antenna in the attic and eventually a good dual band too, for 2M 70cm. Keep up the good work.
Glad you found me! Yes sir, my limits are about 1604 and Bandera Road-ish. Every few months our group meets a few of the San Antonio folks at Jim's near 1604 and Blanco. Email me and I'll give you my number if you ever wanna come join us! Don@mctx-react.org
Howdy boss, I love the work. I’m out in bandera township, and I’m trying to set up a repeater for the town and surrounding area, and I’m running into the same issues you are. Would you mind shooting me any advice your willing to share? Parts, pieces and issues you’ve run into would be of great help
Great video. Glad you are finished with this job! Question: since the winch wire is metal and attached to the metal tower and the winch to a tree, do you also have to ground the winch? If tower is hit by lightning, wouldn't it travel to the winch and tree as well? - Ed
A solid 35 miles out... hills to the north limit some service that direction tho. It's flat to the south and west so we might get a bit further in that direction.
@waynedoomad2573 are you in the Medina County area? If so, we have breakfast just about every Sunday morning at Bill Miller's in Castroville at 9am. You are definitely welcome to stop by. If you aren't local, you can join our Facebook group, medinacountytexasgmrs@gmail.com!
For a battery supply for extra juice, try using a running riding lawnmower and jump to its battery instead of a truck. My buddy W5SSS does it on his tower that holds a large tri beam.

That tower, toward the top, would be a nice place to put a wind speed and direction monitor.
YES! We are also going to add a weather cam that can be controlled by users via our REACT website!
this is awesome. I am hoping to one day put up a repeater in my area the closest one is about 15-20 miles away and want to increase the coverage
THANKS for watching and commenting!!! Let me know if you have any questions during your install. Good luck!!!

So, the winch is actually a nylon-ish rope... The section I added (about 15 feet) was wire so we should be golden. GREAT question tho!!!
Congrats, you did a great job. Good luck
Thank you so much!
How much coverage do you get with your repeater? By the way great job.

@@MCTGMRS78009 that’s cool 👍🏻 well that’s quite a bit of range for 25 watts. Once you get a full 50 watts I bet you will get 40-50 miles
@@46camper50 it will be neat to see what it does 😉
where can i buy that tower?
Mine was built with all used sections. The only thing new was the hinged base plate and the antenna.
Great built I which I was there
It was definitely a fun protect and even more exciting to see the immediate improvement of the system. Would have enjoyed your assistance!
How can I join your group

Awesome job on that tower! Thank you for sharing. I’m about to embark on a similar project as I was gifted a tower similar to yours.
