Well this was one crazy day!! i know this is a long vlog, but it was so hard to cut things out as it was all just so crazy! This Khyber Pass was not where we had talked about going at all! i know the area isnt safe and its off limits to tourists. i didnt even think i was allowed as far as the Khyber gate! the friend that took myself and Ammara was trying to be helpful , Bless , and i thank him for taking us on this adventure! albeit it seemed nobody had a clue that we were actually driving ON the Khyber pass at the time! after driving quite a while we mustve been close to the Torkham border as i saw the Afghan flag painted on the hillside!! thats when i told him to turn back and i was getting very anxious! ..iy turned out it was his first time that route! i passed so many historical places that i had no idea about , i have never researched things there as i knew its a no go area ! anyway as you can see and hear the conversations of what went down! But stopped at a town Landi Kotal where the kids went crazy! and met a young guy that spoke such good English, my heart truly went out to him, 16 years old and all he wants to do is study in the uk! im still in touch with him , first foreigner that he's met! as you can see everyone was quite surprised to see me!! what turned out to be a day with me freaking out to go back turned into one of the most memorable days ive had in a while! crazy to think i was 3 miles from the border at one point !! a place ii've heard so much about in history but never thought id get to go along it ( even if i didnt realise it till we were home! epic fail there!! hahaha ....i made it back safe and wont do that again, but if you listen you will hear him saying we were'nt on Khyber pass and if i wanted to go sometime!! you have to listen to what was being said ! amazing place though!! and i got mu cup of tea in the end! and Yes folks i know it was extremely risky! but iy was an accident! lol

Some history for you Emma, Shagai Fort was built by British and Highland Regiments were often posted here [Black & Tans] to guard the frontier against possible Tsarist Russian invasion as they had conquered Uzbekistan in 1880s and were only 150 miles north from the Khyber Pass.

This place was frequented by westerners in the 50s 60s and 70s. Princess Diana, prince Phillip, Queen Elizabeth and many many heads of states stayed in khyber rifles mess and living quarters. Since the early eighties foreigners mostly hippies stopped coming due to the Afghan war. All these inns were full of westerner hippies. Peshawar also witnessed westerners roaming in its streets.
The people of this area respect the guest specially female. Every thing is fine hear emma don't br nervous

This was in July and no I wasn’t working lol, I was in Peshawar just as a tourist and ended up here, although tourists aren’t allowed there was nobody at check posts that day as it was Eid maybe 🤔 I’m not sure how I got that far ... lol

This is my village.
Let me explain the history about this place. This is that road by which Pakistan imports and exports goods to Afghanistan. Before the independence of Pakistan this place was hinged by British Army. British Army used to live here in these villages. After the independence Britain govt left this place.
There is a wide history of this place.

Hi Emma.
First of all, I want to clear you one thing that you're safe here .. the areas you're exploring are the outskirts and border town near Afghanistan border.
Firstly Torkham is kinda town nearest to the Afghanistan border and LANDI KOTAL and TORKHAM are like refugee camps because most of the people there are Afghanistan refugees and they are not very used to see Western tourists especially in those areas.
Secondly, KHYBER PASS is just like a passage and monument in present time but it has two different significant histories; The first one is from ISLAMIC point of view and Secondly, it used to be part of the old silk road in modern history.. so people from central Asia like Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Russia and of course Afghanistan used to do trade from this route.
And the driver was a nice guy he didn't explore that area himself before and he was so eager and he was trying to tell you that if in cause he sees any check post so he will return from that particular point .. he was saying in winter there will be snow in Torkham so those areas have very good weather as compared to Peshawar city. You misunderstood him but anyways, I would give you advice please do some reach before heading towards an unknown location and the driver was saying the same in the beginning.
And you don't need to worry about the security situation every corner of my country is safe and sound but due to unrest in Afghanistan, we are facing few problems these days because security is on alert in those areas.

this is our area , that is safe like your own area. but i don't know, why driving makes you trouble. that is very safe , people respectful and have hospitality. the driver have misunderstood about khyber pass. its very safe, and a thousand of people comed here for see the border and historical places.
It would be great if you can share your personal experience and request UK higher education authorities to approve some scholarships for the youth of underprivileged areas like the one you visited.
