Not Lewis. So you're both clever and funny.
Except that i've since seen him talking with Jack Conte ( a longterm friend of his ) who calls him Lewis. Damn!

This seems to be a guy who listened to Aphex Twin but didn't realize that it's done with a sequencer, so he decided to learn it all.

People practice drumming for decades & never gain that level of ability. It's a combination of God given talent, discipline, & real love for what he does. You have to LOVE drumming to play like that.

In case you haven't figured it out since making this video, he wasn't playing more than two notes in a row on the floor tom. It was K-RRKRR-KRR- or something along those lines.

Brilliant response and genuine reactions. Trumpet player here but well and truly locked in to drums - it's a groove thing!

There's a great video of Allan Holdsworth live in Tokyo in 1984 with a 24-year-old Chad Wackerman on drums. The full concert with interviews is there, but there's also a drum solo at about 29:35.

He’s left handed but he plays a right handed kit and uses his non-dominant foot for the kick. Makes me want to learn on a left handed kit.

My favourite part is when the chords, the bass and the cymbal are in unison around 2:47 while the tom just keeps it all saturated.

He's the Mike Oldfield of the 2020's. He's got composition chops too, churning out crazy syncopated shit à la Gentle Giant but layered with lush & rhapsodic melodic stuff. He never stops, no wonder why he's so skinny.

  • @pedroorthey

Really enjoyed that Emma!!! He (and Genevieve Arcadia) are sooooooooo good. Of course Louis is well studied. His father played jazz piano and his mother played bass! He graduated in jazz studies from USC Thornton School Of Music etc…. (Wikipedia) ….. fun fact: I discovered him over 10 years ago via RUclips when he was relatively just beginning….I came to find out he used (maybe still does) GarageBand as his DAW! I managed to ‘friend’ him on Facebook back in the early and good ole days. ….on another….um……note!!! YOU are soooooooo cute! (I hope I’m allowed to say that?) Respect!!! to you (as they say in Jamaica ! :) ❤️❤️❤️👋👋👋🍻🍻🍻

Man, it feels like Louis is kinda Drummers drummer, if that makes sense. I feel like I can't properly appreciate the skill being put on display. I know it's impressive, I know it sounds amazing, I know it's so cool to watch, but not knowing the technical skill involved really removes me from understanding how crazy it is. I feel like to other drummers he is even better than he is to us laymen.
