And that’s when Sapp realized he fucked up. I always thought it was ironic he was so mad when there are parallels between this Niners squad and his Bucs team that won it all.
This Niner squad has a top offense. Not top defense. Purdy threw for almost 10 yards per pass attempt while breaking the 49 ers single season passing yards. In the NFC championship game his ability to elude sacks and run for first downs in the second half changed the game. The defense didn’t change anything as they couldn’t barely get the lions to punt. If it wasn’t for Detroit going for it on 2 4th downs while they was in field goal range then they would have won easily. They drove down the field easily all game. Even in the 2nd half

Brad Johnson was definitely a game manager lol no questions about it. I think when people hear the term Game Manager they immediately think oh just an average QB who’s riding along. Tom Brady was the greatest game manager ever. He wasn’t trying to make a play every down took what the defense gave him until it was needed for him to make a play. The QBs who do the most winning are game managers. Both Purdy and Mahomes did a great job managing the game and knowing when to make a play vs letting the game flow. On a side note Sapp should never mention Troy Aikman and Brad Johnson in the same sentence their nowhere close to each other. Troy was game manager but when it was time he was on it.

You know how you change the game as a quarterback?! Touchdowns and interceptions, cam had 194 TDs and 123 INTs. Brady had 649 TDS and 212 INTs. You had 0 rings and 0 fumble recoveries in the SB. Brady got a ring for each day of the week. Cam has zero authority when it comes to who changes the game and who doesn’t.
@@coryzeke3771No disrespect but outside of the MVP he doesn’t have the track record. His peak wasn’t long enough, he really had 1 great season and there are 6 recently retired and 4 active quarterbacks that currently have a significantly better hall of fame case. 1. Brady 2. Big Ben 3. Bree’s 4. Eli 5. Matt Ryan 6. Philip rivers. 1. Mahomes 2. Stanford 3. Rodgers 4. Russell Wilson.
Taking the idea and running with it regarding QB styles, here are my archetypes: Game manager (Brady, Montana) Gunslinger (Farve, Stafford) Dual-threat (Jackson, Young) Marksman (Brees) Pure arm talent (Marino, Mahomes) Specimen (Big Ben, Allen, Cam) I'm not sure how gamechanger fits in. Maybe it's over top?
As a saints fan since ‘86 and being in the nfc west and playing friscoe 2x a year and absolutely hating Joe Montana, I am completely insulted that you would call him a game manager. I barely recall mike cofer even punting some games. They terrorized the league. Didn’t they drop like 50 on Denver in a super bowl? And Tom Brady ? A game manager? They barely punted a don just seemed to go up the field at will. Let’s call them what they were……complete quarterbacks.
@@Mystic_Mary A game manager wins games primarily by addressing any given situation on the field with the optimal choice to place their team in a position of advantage. A game manager will take a sure 3 yard gain on 2 and 5 from the run and then run the play action on the next play from a power run look. It's all about setting the team up for success from play to play. Some quarterbacks use different tools. Drew Brees understood how to manage a game to success, but his great skill was an exceptional level of accuracy throwing the ball. Go watch his appearance on dude perfect. Kyler Murray has the same throwing skill, but doesn't manage the game and therefore doesn't win.
Cam was a game-changer in that SB: Panthers odds of winning the game changed from "there's a good chance" to "hell no" with Cam's fumble that he did not make an effort to recover.
This one of the main reasons why I don't put team success at the top of the list when we are critiquing these quarterbacks. People will use any stat in the world to cover up their eyes. I'm a Ravens fan, heavy and when they won the Chip in 2000, the team's quarterback was a man by the name of Trent Dilfer, maybe you've heard of him. Well guess what, after the season they went and paid a bunch of money to sign Elvis Grbac, even after Dilfer had lead them to winning the Super Bowl. There are plenty of noodle arm quarterbacks that have had team success, that does not in any way qualify them being classified as "Game Changers". We all have eyes and we know what that guy looks like.
Sapp never backed off the "glorified running back" label he gave Cam, defended Brad Johnson as a Super Bowl QB and a solid NFL QB while pointing out Cam made a business decision on a crucial play in The Super Bowl, and conceded to Cam's definition of a "game manager" when Cam called the GOAT an "elite game changer," all while admitting he never watches Cam's show. Sapp finessed the interview. 😆
@@ivandrago5891 didn't say it was. But Sapp was there. I wasn't. You wasn't. He's more qualified to say what he said regardless of what any of us think about it. And Johnson "managed" a 79.9 passer rating with 215 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Cam Newton changed the game with a passer rating of 55.4 with 265 yards and 1 interception and a memorable career decision that sealed the L. Each had one Super Bowl to prove their worth in the game. In that ONE game, Johnson was it and Cam wasn't, player.
There's some redefining of what a game mgr is by Cam. Game mgr historically = don't mess up what the elite talent around you is doing. Cam's definition of game mgr = someone who doesn't change the game with his style of play. People aren't bothered by Cam's definition, but him using the term with it's traditional understanding. Nice job by Cam of garnering them clicks.
Give MVP Cam the same weapons that Brock has and he’s winning the Super Bowl. It’s ok to admit the 49er’s are insanely stacked on both ends of the ball and that Purdy just has to manage the game to win.
He had that with Greg Olson Steve Smith Brandon Lafell and DeAngelo Williams. All while having Luke Kuechly, Greg Hardy, Thomas Davis and Charles Johnson on defense. Ended with 1st rnd exit to the 49ers.
When people say things like that and Cam is great! You can't just put every great quarterback into Kyle's system and expect to win the super bowl. He doesn't want people who just running around. Depends on the quarterback but it's like a rhythm type system
if we are saying that because he won the chip then by default I will agree with that but outside of the chip the best QB in Bucs history to me is Doug Williams

Tom brayd was a game manager. Tbh I wouldn’t even call burrow a game changer. The only changers currently right now are mahomes, Lamar, Allen, an arod. Ar-15, had the potential to be a game changer. Game changers are basically qbs that force defesnes to play outside the norm , completely change what they do best specifically to combat 1 qb they face.
If we’re being real, game changer rally means the ability to extend plays and make something happen out of nothing when a play breaks down. Currently there are really only 3 qbs right now who can do that consistently and a highe level. Mahomes, Lamar and Allen. Ar-15 shows a small sample size of this. Arod in his prime, even a few years ago also had this ability.

Cam changed his definition of a game manager tho. His original quote about Purdy was, “they’re not winning because of him, he’s a game manager, not a game changer.” So is he saying that the Patriots and the Bucs didn’t win because of Tom Brady either? Brady changed the game way more than Cam or Lamar ever have and in the most crucial moments too. Purdy literally made been shown to make game changing plays even before the Lions game, people just didn’t watch him play.
That’s exactly what I got from this interview. Which now seems like Purdy in the Super Bowl has him nervous he was wrong at least about Purdy. @@huh3719

Brad Johnson definitely wasn't a game changer

The facts are Purdy isn't just a game manager he is a game changer and also he isn't the 10th best players on his team
@dharris1084able Prudy is exactly that a game manager and its nothing wrong with that. What he means is Dak, Brock etc not putting a whole team on their shoulders and getting them the win like Big Ben, Peyton Manning, Lamar Jackson, Mahomes etc has done in their careers. If 49ers or Dallas need Brock or Dak to will them to a win and put the whole game on their shoulders they probably going to most likely lose and thats just being honest.

Cam is working. Great Discussion. I wish more people would have conversations like this.
Respect sapp for apologizing but he’s so hard headed 😂

Sapp finessed the interview. 😆
Brad Johnson wasn’t it player
@@ivandrago5891 didn't say it was. But Sapp was there. I wasn't. You wasn't. He's more qualified to say what he said regardless of what any of us think about it.

Give MVP Cam the same weapons that Brock has and he’s winning the Super Bowl. It’s ok to admit the 49er’s are insanely stacked on both ends of the ball and that Purdy just has to manage the game to win.
He still would win because he wants to run. He was in the Super Bowl but faltered
You are talking fantasy. Winning a Superbowl,,., he never won a Superbowl. Facts. He was cut from patriots. Noone wants him
He had that with Greg Olson Steve Smith Brandon Lafell and DeAngelo Williams.
Cam can't make all the passes. He can only throw the ball on a rope. No touch.
