He is great, but it isn’t like he is talking about some stupid topic, our history (English history) is incredible especially to the English people, and he’s also talking about one of its greatest kings and one of the greatest periods of time that helped set the stage for in my opinion the most interesting period in our history the wars of the Roses
Excellent point about the possibility /probability that Henry V was not scarred by the arrow injury at Shrewsbury. That has been my reading of the events of 1403 for a considerable time, and very good to hear Dan Jones make just the same arguments! I look forward to reading the book.
Jones points out that Henry was "lucky", in that Henry died in his prime. Richard had a sort of downward spiral after the Third Crusade. Also, being a great general/warrior isn't EVERYTHING. I say that as a HUGE Lionheart fan.
Looking forward to reading V this weekend. I wish Dan would have started with Bolingbroke first. Ian Mortiner did a great job but thers hardly any books coveriny the IV Henry
Yes he was , his kids liked him , he had little or no civil unrest from his nobles or even the plebs lol during a 50 year reign, he was a great leader in every way .
Interesting to notice how true leaders shone during the 100-year war: Edward III and Henry V on the English side / Charles V and Charles VII on the French side, the latter being able to win it.

I think for the purpose of objective historical analysis we should not equate authorizing a translation of the Bible with “rewriting it”. Further, because the incendiary footnotes of the Geneva Bible could not possibly have been part of the original Holy writings, removing those , would not necessarily be changing religion to suit rulership.
Somewhere the Lionheart is turning in his grave. Henry was a great soldier king, but warrior? He was a good warrior, but Richard l was a great warrior.
Richard coeur de lion would not be turning in his grave!!! Simply because he couldn't give 2 nobs of butter about the English he just used them to fund his pointless wars in the middle east. He was French through and through didn't speak English spent all of about 6months of his time as king on these shores, rest of time spent crusading or in france. Not even a great warrior as got himself killed for no reason other than to boast his ego by trying to take a non-strategic castle. Yeah a great warrior King of England 😂

Henry 5 was the King who lost all but about 7 square miles of the English possessions in France plus he died in that losing campaign. And left a baby son to b come king. Who was crowned at 6 months old. The English historians glorify 3 battles Henry 5 won. But he lost the war Nothing great about 1. Losing a war. 2 Losing the vast English possessions in France Henry’s losing the war led to vast economic problems in England. All those destitute unpaid soldiers coming home. Plus all the English settlers in the former English territories in France. This is just English chauvinism forget we lost the Hundred Years’ War. But we win 3 battles

I just love Dan Jones. I'm from Bolivia but I'm obsessed with English history. Thanks Dan and congrat.
Thats cool. Made me want to research some bolivian history in return
Thanks Dan, you are the best. Who knows!, maybe someday.
🙂
Love Dan. Proof that a well thought out, well articulated speaker can make anything interesting.
Yes he has lovely joints
The subject matter is interesting. Dan is wonderful, I agree. But I find it astounding that people can manage to make this stuff boring.

Dan Brown is simply an exceptional historian.
Awesome interview. Part two, please.

Henry died of dysentery horrible diarrhea
Dr. Bradmore was a genius. The account of how he saved the prince is amazing.
He really was there’s another video on history hit where they really go into it and what he gave him medicines everything
Dan Jones is The Greatest! His Book Henry V is Magnificent.
Wow I am really astonished by this stuff. Thanks for sharing this! Please keep them coming:)
that was unreal where’s part 2 👍🏻🔥💯💪🏻
Absolute insult to Richard the Lionheart. There was no greater warrior king of England than him. His generalship and courage were unparalleled.

Henry was brave and a motivator

bruh… i need the rest of this?!
Englands Greatest Warrior King, Edward III.
Maybe he’ll write a book about Edward III someday.
Yes he was , his kids liked him , he had little or no civil unrest from his nobles or even the plebs lol during a 50 year reign, he was a great leader in every way .
Henry the V , achieved the impossible for nothing.
Where I can I find part 2? Thanks
Note also that Azincourt is spelled with a Z. English people turned it to Agincourt with a G because Henry V was supposed to speak through his nose.

Yep. Hot and smart.
I’m here doing important research. For science. I swear.
Richard the Lion heart would be england's greatest warrior king. His whole life was a battle.
I think I bought a dime bag off this guy once
Moe Howard of the three stooges pulled off that haircut too...
Did he though? 😁
What watch is he wearing
Edward III is the true warrior king of England
Shakespeare is mine -owner of original manuscripts
Personally I think Richard the Lionheart is the best warrior king because he was a legit warrior who did insane mad lad stuff

Still have the notes, but don't know which side of the face??
Very odd!
He says in the notes left side but the way he wrote it is ambiguous as to the prince’s left side or his left (Bradmore’s)
And because the portrait profile is left side it has people confused
Whoa. Slow down. I dare any English King to outdo the Lion hearted did at Asruf

Yes, most of those words are English.
