The Brit soldiers on foot in the desert would have LOVED to receive them and speed off over the hot sun, instead of sweating while walking endless miles...!
@wadescyclone The vessel’s cargo included: Bedford trucks, Universal Carrier armoured vehicles, Norton 16H and BSA motorcycles, Bren guns, cases of ammunition, and 0.303 rifles as well as radio equipment, Wellington boots, aircraft parts, and two LMS Stanier Class 8F steam locomotives.
bueno andoni , excelente video , eres un crack.que recuerdos me trae este video......................,un dia volvere................, nos vemos en el club. saludos, fernando calero.
I'm amazed that in all of the years since the ship was sunk, nobody has attempted to salvage the vehicles in her holds. When cleaned up & restored they would be worth a small fortune EACH .
nice video. i have been there in 2002 and think this is a nice impression of the thisltegorm. luckely not to many divers during the film and good quality!
Universal Carrier armoured vehicles, RAF trolley accumulators,[9] and two PUNDIT lights[10] can also be found. Off to the port side of the wreck level with the blast area can be found one of the steam locomotives which had been stored as deck cargo and the other locomotive is off the starboard side level with Hold No. 2.[3]
At 2250 hours on 5th October 1941 two twin-engine Heinkels He 111´s crossed the north Egyptian coast heading south-east in search of a big ship, her presence confirmed by German intelligence. on the point of returning home, the pilots spotted ship at anchor.he released two bombs right over her bridge. Both penetrated aft of the bridge, detonating a great deal of ammunition. The explosion sent two locomotives spiralling into the air the ship was ripped open. She sank at 0130 hrs 6th October 1941
I'd just take one of those old bikes, bring one up back to the surface and make her run like she would've back then. They are really nice antics!!!!!!!
wow ay sian mucho dinero sacar el barco entero del fondo del mar i todo eso carro i motores que tiene adentro benderlo en una subasta oh ponerlo en un museo increible megusto el video 100% I like soo much nice
Boots and motorcycles are visible in Hold No. 1. Trucks, motorcycles, Wellington boots, rifles, Westland Lysander wings,[6] about twenty Bristol Mercury radial engine exhaust rings and a handful of cylinders[7] and Bristol Blenheim bomber tail planes[8] are visible in Hold No. 2.
A few quick questions, Who did the ship belong to? Why are there so many bikes on it? When did it sink? and why was there a bomb on the ship was it a granade he dropped on accident? Please respond i find this video really cool i would just like to get a little history out of it Thanks:)
"The SS Thistlegorm was a British armed Merchant Navy ship built in 1940 by Joseph Thompson & Son in Sunderland, England. She was sunk on 6 October 1941 near Ras Muhammad in the Red Sea and is now a well known dive site." -- wiki/Thistlegorm
mate that is not a foot ! it just looks like a foot, the the Thistlegorm was cargo ship and the vehicles were in the main hold... ie no one down there.... on a different tangent what depth is she at ? i noticed some of the divers are running nitrox, I am newly qualified open water but would eventually like to dive the Thistlegorm, just wondered if i need to go get trained on enriched systems.
@andoniasenjo Yes, it's a shame. There are always people who have to look with their hands or take souvenirs. It's a shame because they have no respect and when they leave with their souvenirs, there is less for everyone else to see. Thank you for the great video, this looks like a fantastic dive site. It seems to me that for some strange reason lionfish always really like to congregate on wrecks.
@andoniasenjo Do you think that if they blow a round it will not harm you at this distance? LOL. Next time you see people messing with ammo prevent them to do so or get as far as you can.
That's my kind of sunken treasure, stacks of antique motorcycles. Too bad they're ruined though. Those old harleys would have probably been worth 20k plus ea today had they been salvaged before rusting and rotting. They were probably practically brand new when sank. I want a time machine to go back and rescue them when they were fresh.

Lots of Indian 741B motorcycles there. Would make a classic bike enthusiast take up scuba diving.

una, si no la mejor, de las inmersiones que he tenido
Fascinating....nice!
At 10:18 that's NOT a torpedo, it's a vane used for minesweeping...they got blown up on a fairly regular basis IIRC, and needed regular replacing.
How about getting some goodies up to the surface? Or is it considered a war grave?
There are 9 skeletons down there. War grave.

You are absolutely right!
Lajos Nagy I don't know why they couldn't bring them up , prolly wouldn't be worth much now all eroded but its cool to have .
The tires are left intact. Imagine the pollution it generates.
