Advice from a New Englander: slice the canned bread thin, butter both sides and brown it in the cast iron skillet. You will like it better! We always had it with franks and beans, and the homemade kind is about the same - we used to make it in coffee cans steamed on the woodstove
Wow, I love canned bread too, but it needs to be warm. Toast it, butter it and Yum! I like the sound ot cream cheese that Vicki Dehaven mentioned below too, I need to try that.
I also really like the camping videos. The canned bread brought me back to years past. I always liked it. It’s rich, moist and has a complex flavor. It’s not meant to be like sandwich bread.
I like all your videos , but your camping ones are my favorite. Thanks for showing us all the new products. I think I’d pass on the canned bread. The coolest thing was the tiny air pump and the sleeping pad. Great job, as always.
I loved what we called Brown Bread growing up. I always put butter on it. I still eat it on occasion, but always with butter. The new camping gear looks really nice! I enjoy your camping videos. It makes me want to try it again. What got me away from it was the noisy neighbors. You seem to do well, avoiding lots of other campers. I guess, now that I'm retired, I could go during the week, which might help.
I love the camping videos too. Bread in a can I love it. It's better if you toast it, put some butter on it. It's great with soups, beans and stews. Or just toasted with butter on it. It's good staple food. I've also put maple syrup on it. But I guess it's an acquired taste. I love it. When it's cold it can be a quick easy addition to a meal. I've never ate it plain. Give it another try.good to take on a camping trip. Take care God Bless. I sleep good when it rains.🙂.✌🙌🕯🖖💕. Respect and positivity always. Neita and family. 🙂👋.
Love all of your new gear! You'll have a lot of fun with all those nice additions! If you bring a sheet and line the sleeping bag with it, you won't have to wash it as frequently
Thanks for the video. I saw you had beans, should have them together. Sop up the molasses bean sauce with brown bread. Throw in some hot dogs and you have a Saturday night supper. Nice oil lamp too, don't get to see them in use to much, looks like you been around them and know how to use them as you had it isolated on the table. Look forward to the next one.
Fog is so spooky but does leave everything damp. Whilst you were walking I was expecting to hear or see a bird or animal, that would have been great. Really enjoyed video and thanks for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
French Creek is one of my fav places to camp. The last time I went, it was just infested with caterpillars and not particularly enjoyable. However, I love that there is a bit of privacy and woods... just lovely.
Enjoy your camping videos sir! At this point in my life I want a tent big enough for a cot and the associated comforts with that approach. We used the cast iron setups for making great hot sandwiches like you did with the tuna. It just takes a bit of practice to figure out how long to cook it while not burning the bread.
I camp here from time to time. Definitely a nice park/campground. Decent hill from the campground to the lake trail! Thanks for making your videos man. I live in southeastern PA so you cover alot of my local spots and it's nice to get in depth info on these places.
We were there camping the 9th through the 14th in the A loop. It was ok. Roads sucked going in. Road falls off the side making big pot hole type divots. I hit one and bent my trailer rim and flattening my tire. Doubt we will go back. Thanks for your video!
Liked the video brings back memories of camping with my family. You might try a door mat or a small rug right inside or outside the tent to wipe your feet on and cut down on tracking dirt in.
Long time seeing you. I agree camping bread, in a can of regular, butter both sides, lightly brown in skillet makes great toast. Don't camp any more but still fix toast like that at times. All your camping gear looks great. You need a camping check list. Zipper on sleeping bag for glasses, The misty fog moving in behind you is interesting, just need a wolf howling in the background. Doesn't everyone spill hot chocolate out of those packages.
From phone, email a list to yourself and save it on there. Then you always know what to pack. I always do that with shopping. I email myself a list of what I need. ✨✨🌺👍🌺✨✨
Hi Cliff, some really nice camping gear actually, a shame it was so wet but hey sometimes it can make great memories. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤
I have been eating B&M brown bread for years. It is definitely an acquired taste. It has a distinct molasses taste. Toasted with butter it is really awesome.
Great reviews of unigear equipment. I have a flextail pump. It works really well and is easy to transport (backpacking etc). I would strongly suggest you try a 3 inch memory foam with a cot when car camping. It’s an amazing sleep. Thank you for sharing!
The canned brown bread is better with butter or some other topping on it. It is real;ly tasty after a long hike, heck, everything is taaty after that:) Rik
Thanks for sharing the video with us! May I ask what site/loop that was? It looked nice and flat and free of rocks.---- D 24....not sure how I missed it
Cliff, you can't eat that bread just plain like that. We always have several cans of that bread in our pantry because it keeps, and it's delicious warmed up with butter or my favorite whipped cream cheese. It's also great with apple butter, honey and butter, marmalade or butter and maple syrup.😋
That canned bread I think made its debut durring WW2 like SPAM had, or both became famous then. Anyway, yeah it has that canned black mollasses taste. I slice it think, toast it and put butter on it, goes great with coffee, especially when camping and or hunting.
All growing up, my dad had his children use mummy bags when we were camping. He said it would keep us warmer than regular sleeping bags. I hated using them because they got so narrow at the bottom that I couldn't move my legs around inside very well. I don't know if that's the way the one you used was though. It looked like it could be a little roomier.
This SP is close to my home so I’m pretty familiar with it. Wish you would have had better hiking weather because there are some good trails. Never heard of canned bread before this but I think I’ll give it a try…
Wearing boots/shoes inside a tent? Reminds me of the scene in "The Last Samurai" when Tom Cruise tracks mud inside of the Japanese families' house he is staying in and the look he gets.
canned bread would taste better with butter. And no need to refrigerate real butter. It won't spoil as long as you don't ger crumbs or jam etc in it. Same for jams. And the campsite is a perfect setting for a bigfoot encounter with the fogginess lol...
Where is this place? When I was a kid we camped at a place called 'French Creek" that was in eastern PA. There is another French Creek that flows into Lake Erie.
Cliff thanks for another nice video. Have to tell you I’m a huge fan of B&M brown bread in a can have been. for a long time. Sadly and unfortunately I no longer can locate it in any of the stores I shop. Can you please share where you were able to score this fine staple? Thank you so much

Boston bread has molasses in it. It does not smell like dog food and you warm it and put butter or cream cheese on it .also apple pie filling from a can is bland.Taste buds need education too
I've seen that canned bread, but never tried it. Probably would be better with some butter or cream cheese on it. The sleeping bag and mat looks comfortable. Great camping spot despite the rain. 😊
Advice from a New Englander: slice the canned bread thin, butter both sides and brown it in the cast iron skillet. You will like it better! We always had it with franks and beans, and the homemade kind is about the same - we used to make it in coffee cans steamed on the woodstove
We always had brown bread with cream cheese and sometimes a little bit of jelly
Still make brown bread, its a family favourite. Very good with baked beans and franks. Great toast with maple syrup for breakfast.
Oh yes yes yes , stay in some cabins!!!!!!!!this winter !!!! I’d love that
Oh I love French creak !!!!!! Getting ready to watch. !!!!!
Wow, I love canned bread too, but it needs to be warm. Toast it, butter it and Yum! I like the sound ot cream cheese that Vicki Dehaven mentioned below too, I need to try that.
It's killer with cream cheese.
I grew up in New England and loved that bread toasted with butter. It’s probably been around for about 100 years. Every New Englander knows of it.
Beautiful Autumn colors and misty atmosphere. again the brown bread- goes great with baked beans.
I just watched your video on here not to long ago about you camping here at French Creek State Park. It was a year ago when you made that video.
This is a different video.
I love the canned bread ! Excellent with cream cheese spread on it
Love the oil lamp, and watching the fire and THE DRIPPING RAIN sounds !!!!! I’ll be rewatching this video over and over !!! 🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
The canopy is brilliant !!!

One nice thing about camping in cooler months less mosquitos

Yes the moisture in the air makes it feel colder I think will be nice laying in the tent with pitta pasta on the roof
They’re pretty good with their rules on noise at French creek they shut us down playing music on my phone
Canned brown bread actually isn't bread, its cake just like banana bread is cake. Big in New England.
Good video, thanks.
Great outing Cliff, nice spot.

Try the canned bread in a bowl with warm milk. It's pretty good that way.

I like old school lighting and not all the fancy stuff. Oil lantern is neat.
Last year my daughter and I went to Mauch Chunk campground. I'm thinking of trying locust lake next year..
Looks spooky and exciting walk
Put a slice of sharp cheddar on top of that pie filling sandwich. Trust me. Incredible
I was yelling that at the screen! My grandmother used to do that and she and I were the only ones who liked it.
Canned brown bread is a east coast thing. I lived on the west coast and no one knew what it was.....
More like a New England thing.
@@jayforkner2692 makes sense, when I lived in Seattle transplants from MA/CT knew what it was but PNW folks did not
That's funny, I grew up in Los Angeles and we always had this bread. Hard to find in stores here now so I order it off of Amazon.
Really nice camp. The fog was kinda spooky
oh brown bread - molasses and raisins it is great with cream cheese
Love the camping videos💕

That would be relaxing camping in the rain and fog.
Love that campsite.. I've been wanting to go camping.. I just need to do it! Good video Cliff!
Cliff has a sweet tooth, hot chocolate, apple pie sandwich, canned raisin bread, some brownies :)
Maybe some pre-made pie crust would be an easy option with the apple filling, and most likely better tasting! Great video Cliff!

You may find it easier to use the inflation bag by just blowing into the bag about 6 inches away from the opening
