I'm so happy to have this as my home park, but in a way it also makes it harder for me to enjoy other parks because Phantasialand sets the bar so unbelievably high lol

It is quite possibly the world’s best amusement park, but almost every park has its charms. Even a dumpy place like Skyline Park offers quirky things that Phantasialand doesn’t.

It's my homepark as well, but since the park is so small and a lot of times really overcrowded I really like visiting bigger and more landscaped parks like Efteling or Europapark for a more relaxed experience.
I think every single themepark has its pros and cons but coming back to phantasialand always feels like coming home.

Dont get the Pizza, get the Rookburgh Sandwich.
Sitting on the main road after taking a flight, watching Rookburgh and all the exited people, while taking a bite out of the fresh made, thick news-paper-wrapped BEST SANDWICH I EVER HAD is just such a cool add onto the whole experience. Its one of a Kind theme Park food and sure you have to wait a little longer since they make every Sandwich fresh in Front of your eyes but its 100% worth it
Now where i dug deeper into the rollercoaster scene i realised how much of a gift it is to have Phantasialand as Homepark, it really never lets down. Even before Taron and F.L.Y (which is not that long ago) it was amazing but now they pushed themselves on another level :D so cool

I love Cedar Point so freaking much! In fact, when I got home from the park, I felt sad and started tearing up! And this is all coming from a person who was 15 YEARS OLD at this time! But even after my visit to Cedar Point, I wasn't that happy if someone calls this the best park in the entire world. Do I think it's the best park on the continent? Yes; let alone the country. So I've been thinking what other parks could be as good as Cedar Point and leave me crying when I get home. And I truly believe Phantasialand has a shot at it! Phantasialand is just... UNBELIEVABLE!!

What is important to know is that the park was build on a former coal mine. Yes, they dig out a little bit if they build something new, but largely these "trenches" are there since the opening of the park. Also, popular rides (FLY, Taron but also Colorado) can reach up to 120min in peak season, mainly because Phantasialand handles way too many visitors for it's size. Maybe what would have also been interesting to mention in that Ling-Bar is the upper-class hotel, Matamba the family hotel and Charles Lindbergh is more like a complete experience.

I see lots of people saying "Oh, Disney is the best theme park in the world", but usually there is an emotional factor in this argument plus, in my opinion, Disney lacks of thrill rides. Also Mystery Tower looks on pauir to Tower of Terror in terms of theming. I wonder how it compares in experience though.

The confusing layout of the lands is something a lot of people don't talk about, glad you mentioned it. I've been several times and still have no idea where Taron's entrance is located, I always have to search for it and always somehow accidentally end up at the Raik entrance. And Colorado Adventure's entrance is like when you're playing Rollercoaster Tycoon and have no idea where to build the queue. The theming and rides are so amazing though. It's 100% worth visiting several times and I've never had a bad time there. Went there twice in one month once (on accident, went with friends during Spring Break of 2017 and we found out we were going on a school trip there 2 weeks after it). Some of the attractions are also very underrated. Tartüff is the best funhouse I've done, and Colorado Adventure is one of the best mine trains out there (only Big Thunder Mountain is better imo because of the theming). Operations are generally good, but staff can be hit or miss. I had a great experience on Chiapas once. My friends and I taped playing cards to our hands for the on-ride photo. The ride ops noticed it, and were genuinely excited about it. When we arrived back at the station at the end of the ride, they were all laughing and telling us the photo looked great. On the other hand, I had a bad experience on Black Mamba. The ride op got very upset at everyone who went to put their bags in the box in the station. When I sat down, I wanted to remove my glasses and place them in the pockets of my jacket like I always do, but the operator immediately pushed the restraint down after I sat down, so I had to hold my glasses for the entire ride.
    Great review as always!

I agree with most of what you said, but I prefer the front row on Colorado Adventure. It is probably the most absurd coaster I've ever ridden, because you slowly crawl down the drops only to get violently yeeted up the inclines, the length of the train basically turns around the pacing you would expect from the elements you are traversing. And the shaking of the light plastic locomotive decoration just increases the unhinged feeling even more. It really is something else, but so much fun.

Glad you had a great time. This park definitely shows that restrictions, such as noise and land, can actually lead a very impressive, creatively immersive, and kinetic flow of greatness, which describes Phantasialand perfectly! The lands and rides are all able to complement each other well, and seem visually to overwhelm and add excitement for the guest. Now I just need Disney to get a Vekoma new gen flyer. I think one themed to Buzz Lightyear or jet packs would be awesome! Great review as always!

I liked the park. But the area with the 2 indoor coasters felt really old. Wildest attraction in the park was by far Talocan. Insane! Biggest surpsise to me was Mystery Castle. I had no idea what to expect. It was fantastic. Did 3 rounds of it one after the other (since there was no line). Fly made me nauseous however. Taron was good. The second launch was super! I went there on a day where all wait lines were 5-10 minutes max. Even Fly and Taron. Becasue of this,. I only rode first and last rows on all rides, so that was cool. I was with my daughter and we did Fly 3 times and Taron 5 times. We did Black Mamba a few times but didn't like it. The mine train was also quite good. The water rides were also cool. The swing ride was also fun. I highly recommend going on a slow day, since you can ride everything as often as you want. We did about 30 rides in total in all the coasters and then found it enough. But more than enough of other stuff to do. Price was 49 euro per person, after some (easy to find) discount codes.

I am a bit late, but; This is my home park, and it is lovely. I have seen so much change in the last 15 years, and i am excited to visit this year, as my last visit was in 2019. I hope to convince my brother to go on his birthday, as you (still, how nice that they kept it) have free entrance on your birthday.
I don’t necessarily think that Chinatown is the area for the next big update, because it is so small. You can’t really fit a big coaster in there, in my opinion. I also think/hope that they will just give the Geister-Rikscha a little update; You said it well, it is antiquated, BUT it is very nostalgic for three generations of park-goers. It has a really good (rain-safe) capacity and takes place underground, so you wouldn’t even get much new area from demolishing it.
I do agree on the problem with the mine train and its entrance, it doesn’t have a proper queue; It’s a remnant of the gold town, and it just needs to get a new theming, with expansion of the existing queue (as i have waited there quite a bit in my life, i think they might not be allowed to build back there because it is a pathway for firefighting (and there are some fire-related traumas in the park). OR… it can go, i dislike it, the ride experience feels so scary because of the knee bars only… (personal opinion c:). There is also a lot of space “under it”, which could be used for something else.
I think the fantasy-area is next. The show-buildings for Crazy Bats/temple of the night hawk, the dinner-show-building and the closed things back there not only create an extremely dead and sad area, it’s a BIG unused area. Mystery also has some dead areas… but i dont see them demolishing one of the big rides, so i don’t see big development there. The Crazy Bats ride is a downgrade from the long and exciting ride you had on the former temple of the night hawk. a BIG downgrade, actually. That coaster was important because it had a fairly big capacity, was rain-safe (again), and was fast and long and “cool”. Crazy bats is … rain-safe i guess.
I really hope that they actually get to expand the area in general. Well, we will see.
You can do everything in the park in a day; I would suggest not doing the two water rides tho, because they can really get you soaked… Or bring two sets of new clothing!

If you go in summer, definitely try Chiapas and river quest. Just bear in mind the after the ride, you are either wet or drenched, so protect your electronics. Prices are steep as it is, you don't want to add the cost of a new iPhone on top :p

If you'd have asked me a couple of years ago I'd have said it was my favourite park in Europe too... but from last year's visits I think Europa Park snuck into top spot. I think Covid damaged some of my visit last year with the lack of extra ride time when staying in the hotel (as you mentioned), but also single rider lines not operating. Conversely Europa Park had virtual queues and timed tickets and all kinds of ways to cram more into your day without standing in lines. The lines are my only criticism of Phantasialand though, it's obviously a top quality park with elite-level theming. Given all the restrictions and quality of what they've done, I think it's the best designed park in the world.

There's not only the main entrance and the three hotel entrances. The two parking lots that are not owned by Phantasialand have their own entrances in China Town and Mystery. And yes... the main entrance doubles as a bus station for the shuttle bus to the railway station.
Oh... and the pizza is no pizza but focaccia. Additionally I can really recommend the more expensive and time consuming sit down restaurants: Rutmor's Taverne and Uhrwerk. The restaurants in the hotels are free for anyone to access and are supposed to be really good, as well.

A small update: This season they introduced a new ticket system. There is a determined number of tickets available for each day, including a certain amount of very affordable tickets.
The advantage is that there are no more overly packed days. On the other hand, it is quite unthrifty to cancel the order on the same day.
And by the way, the VR is back on Crazy Bats. It is a great experience and excellent addition to the park.

My girlfriend doesn't like theme parks. She doesn't ride roller coasters or anything "scary" really.. I got her on Arthur in Europa Park once. But she still never really liked theme parks, coasters etc... But when I took her to Phantasialand, she was very impressed and loved it. She didn't go on any rides except River Quest (she didn't know it had drops, but didn't mind that much) and mouse au chocolat and Tartüff, etc. But she loved Phantasialand for being so immersive and detailed. In Africa she said "i felt like I really was in Africa with the sounds, plants etc" for example. The park is worth it even for non-amusementpark fans. For me, it is the best park in Europe hands down. It has some of the best coasters in europe, probably the best theming in europe and top class worldwide and great food for theme parks, too (try the chinese hotel buffet - awesome. Ice cream in the walkway between Berlin and Wuzetown, the Pizza.. You won't find anything bad really).
