Thanks for putting these videos together for us.

The second you feel the buzz, you shift up, that's how a cruiser works. not a cruiser bike, but still a cruiser motor.

Awesome review as always Bryan, a tad harsh, but that's what I love about your channel, you don't sugar coat every single bike you get to ride.
What's the ground clearance on the SCR? I could swear that it was higher on other videos, but it almost looks just as short as the Bolt.

He says it kinda looks like a scrambler. Isn’t that why it’s called the SCR, SCRambler?

I think the knobby tires contributes to the vibration. I heard from people who owns the bike, changing the tires completely eliminates the vibes.

I agree the XSR700/900 round gauge should be on this bike & A nice set of twin exausts would finish this bike off perfectly if yamaha had enough brains to make it stock this way!

I would take the XSR 900 or 700 over this any day just because the SCR905 uses the Bolt engine making it top heavy and sluggish (think cruiser).

What's with the two feet down on these rides ... always? In Canada you fail your tests if your right foot ever leaves that peg / brake.

I think this gentleman is missing the real picture of this bike. It’s a scrambler mate, that is the whole point you can’t review this bike in a motor way it’s unfair for the bike and for your back.

It matches the bike, that's what they were going for with the speedo. I can agree though, I like the classic clock speedo better.

At first glace, competition to Harley's Roadster came to mind. lol But then upon a closer look, it seems to be in it's own niche. As you stated, kind of in the scrambler territory. I love that it has more aggressive adventure bike tires on it. I LOATHE that stupid speedometer! hahaha! That bike needs an old school white face with black numbers speedo. :-D GREAT review, very thorough! You do some of the absolute best most detailed bike reviews of everyone I watch. And you put many other "highly paid professional reviews" to shame. lol

I had an old 75 dt250 with an orange tank that nearly looks identical to these in red. But the Speedos then we're of course dials with black faces and white lettering.

Hey Bryan, I demo'd the SCR and here are my impressions:
The SCR is a full hipstering of the Bolt (sorta like the XSR is a slight hipstering of the FZ-09). Everything Yamaha got right on the XSR they got wrong on the SCR. I wish I had rode its donor, the Bolt, to be completely objective. But taken on its own merits it is not a good motorcycle IMHO. Yes, it's a cruiser at heart. I'm not opposed to that. But the mid controls stick out WAY to much. So much so that when you come to a stop you are trying to figure out how to not spike you shins and ankles with the controls. It's a learning curve. It can be done. But really, why?
It was not slow, it didn't brake horribly, it didn't steer terribly. Again, it's a cruiser at heart. But isn't the point of a scrambler-style bike to be small and sorta agile? And the seat! It was HARD as hell AND narrow! Give me one or the other but not both. I guess hipsters want to feel uncomfortable to validate the experience. That shit ain't for me.
The SCR is irrelevant when you have a motorcycle as good as the XSR in the same stable. True, the SCR is cheaper by almost $800. But if money is the issue just buy a Bolt C-Spec if you want hipster cred.

You keep saying "low cost" but you also said eight and a half. Isn't that in the Harley 883 Iron/Sportster price bracket?
Do you feel Harley cut the same corners you point out to in the Yamaha (loose cables, cheap switches) to get the Iron our at around $9K i.e. "low cost"?
