I am absolutely gobsmacked by everything you do. As an English rider who sits on one of those tiny saddles to see an operation where the mares are so well kept, the stallions so well mannered and the foals so uniformly well put together is a revelation to me. I’m used to stallions who are basically kept in solitary confinement until it’s time to breed, where both stallion and mare are bandaged up as if they’re going to war and then assisted by a retinue of people who make sure no one get hurt, your approach seems much more sensible and natural. Also, we start horses at three, or maybe even four years of age which can lead to some very squirrelly horses. Keep on doing what you’re doing. I’m learning a lot.

👍👍👍. Excellent job Henson taking us along on what ya call a boring day. Don’t get that many rides allowing ya to think about all the work still have to do. But it’s nice to have a horse that loves to go one speed so that ya can rest back and let it and faithful Lincoln do the job for you. Of course would have been awesome to see ya find the horses and then herd them to the corrals but know it’s hard when dealing with a camera. Love the knowledge you have knowing who the foals were out of just like a perfect salesman pitching the perfect sale. And those are amazing looking foals and the mares look very healthy too. Thanks for the rain the pastures look like it’s done well feeding the stock. Nice to see filled out horses just being on the land. Do ya do a preg test cus some have nice belly’s as if they are in foal? Or is it by chance when checking ya see a new foal with their mom? Enjoy seeing your operation and the amazing horses you produce and of course how ya train them so that they enjoy the learning to become sought out horses with great lines too. Hope parent teacher conferences went well cus know the kids would much rather be working and playing on the ranch instead of going to school. Thanks for the video Henson and hope ya do more 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

When you describe a foal as a “stud colt”, do you mean a male foal or a foal with a stud future? In thoroughbreds we just refer to colts or fillies, all colts are foals but not all foals are colts! 😊 :)

You referred to the buckskin mare's foal by Trigger as a palomino. Technically and for registration purposes that is incorrect. That foal is a cremello, which carries two copies of the cream gene which dilutes its base color to this much lighter color. The buckskin mare and the palomino stallion Trigger each carry one copy of the cream gene, which they each passed on to this foal. Just FYI, you're always going to get a cremello with this breeding combination and not a palomino. If that makes a difference to you, and you prefer to breed for buckskin or true palomino foals, then you can't breed them together to get those coat colors.
