    These ones from this era always my favorite. Love 87-93 WWF episodes the most.

      1987 was the first full year I watched WWF. I agree with you about this timeframe being the best. I might include 1994, but it went to shit in 1995.

    The first two Rumbles on PPV 1989-90 were the best. The Royal Rumble match was excellently booked.

    Born in 1987, Started watching in 1989. First PPV my family bought was SummerSlam 1990. Ultimate Warrior vs Ravishing Ric Rude. I'm off topic beings this is RR89, but this was a very sentimental time for me as my fandom was just starting to take off.

    Great to see Bruce feeling well and so energetic. Some of the edge is missing compared to the early days of this podcast, but that is to be expected seeing as Brother Bruce is working with the company in a major role. This is leaps and bounds above what the show was for a couple years when it felt the passion for it was gone a bit. I commend Connie and Brucie for staying committed to bringing us this awesome show. I appreciate how the show has reclaimed it's glory in my opinion. 3.5 doots out of 5

    This ppv was one of the first wrestling shows I rented from Blockbuster back in the day. I ended up hooking up two VCRs so I could record it and I still have it today. The King Haku vs Harley Race match wasn't included on the Coliseum Video version of the show, sadly.

      There was also some edits to the Rumble as well. For example there was a stretch of wrestling during the battle royal where Studd, Akeem, Martel, Beefcake, Dibiase and Barbarian wrestled longer in the end but in the edit after Martel eliminated Barbarian he does a cross body on Akeem immediately and is tossed out. In the original seen on the dvd box set in 07 that Martel cross body happens about 90 seconds later. You can tell because the other wrestlers were in different spots in the ring during those segments.

    Studd was 1 of my favorites and I loved the stars on the tights I saw him in person he was gigantic

    Around 1:52:30 you can see Bruce takes a sip of his "tea" or his "gaterade".... You can clearly tell that it's not tea.... He gives a scrunched-up face. Because whatever he was drinking packed a little bit of a punch...if you know what I mean....Bruce be getting his drink on during the STW podcast ;-)

    John Studs story, it sounds like he was bullied by Andre and by the office and he was given the cold shoulder by the rest of the talent because some 7 plus foot pea brain felt challenged

      Seems a lot of Andre's bullying and general unpleasantness towards some of the other stars often goes forgotten. Iconic and legendary for sure and just lucky he came along when he did and not 10-15 years later when his lack of verbal skills and general lumbering around the ring would have made Giant Gonzales look like Shawn Michaels.

    Surprised no mention of warrior no selling getting sprayed in the eyes. Heenan had to empty the entire bottle into his eyes before he reacted.

    Myself I love this specific Rumble match I thought it did a great job bringing up the current fueds at the time. Telling the story between Hogan and Savage. And a fun question would be if Big John Studd wasn't in the match then who would have won this match, Hogan, Andre, Debiase, or maybe even Brutes Beefcake

    I disagree, John's music was great. It was essentially Hacksaws theme but just a bit slower. I think it's cool when a favorite doesn't win, it's all so predictable now. I miss the golden era of WWF, it was the absolute best.

    Someone please explain to me the numbering on these episodes. A month ago we jumped from the 350s to the 360s, last week was number 356 and now this week its in the 370s. Are these numbers picked randomly?

    Maybe Big John was having an off day? 450lbs is a lot for an average guy to deadlift but I'd have to think it'd be easy for him with those long arms and massive body. I always heard he was a keen lifter too. Maybe he was in great gym shape but his injuries had wrecked his strength. He slammed Akeem easily enough in a match around this time and I have to think he could've easily slammed Andre too, if Andre didn't hate him.

      I was an 80s kid who checked out at the end of attitude….but Was the Logan Paul clip of jumping off the ropes for a double clothes line this Rumble? That was one of single best moves i’ve seen

    Conrad did all that complementing to try to get Bruce to say a single syllable about the bloodline and Bruce says "you're a royal rumble record"

    Big John Studd went on to bigger and better things. He became a massive Hollywood star after his critically acclaimed performance in "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man".

    Poor bruce with the archaic view of not possible for companies work together, meanwhile new japan has been doing that for years with ring of honor and now aew. While aew and impact also worked together. Need to get with the times bruce, this ain't the 80s and 90s no more

    Kurt Angle said that Hogan told HIM that he could not feel his legs anymore so it wasn't "rumor" made up by anybody. It was just Hogan doing Hogan-stuff.
    He may have a measure of permanent numbness in his legs which is certainly believable and quantifiable, but with Hogan you know he always has to stretch the truth beyond what it needs to be.

    This one one of the worst researched shows to date. The first RR was in 1988. That was the answer to Bunkhouse Stampede. I mean these are basic facts most semi-wresting fans know. The 1989 Royal Rumble was the first one on PPV. Smh.
