    What do you want to learn when it comes to focus stacking? What are you frustrated about?

      Learning how to set my D5 MK IV up. It’s a little different from the D5 MK II. Finally got it to connect with my laptop and took off from there. Did a 8 image stack of a wood screw for a test. Turned out better than I thought. Now to hunt something else up. Get my light cage setup for using external flash and I’ll go from there. Thanks again..

    Thank you Janice for such an informative video.I need one clarification, you have talked about 2 methods of focusing for focus stacking i.e. 1. keeping camera at fixed distance from nearest point of the subject and change focus by using focus dial from nearest to farthest point. 2. keeping focus fixed on nearest point of the subject and moving the whole camera-lens system using macro focusing rail towards the subject till farthest point comes in focus. My question is that which method is to be used when. Thanks 😊🙏

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod  3 года назад +1

      Sorry for the delay... that's a great question :) I focus stack with my lens when I'm not very close to the subject and use a rail to move the camera and lens when I'm really close to the subject when I need many stacks. I hope that helps!

    Can I change the intervals between the shots

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod  Год назад +1

      You can do what you want with remote BUT if you push to Helicon focus be careful. You want the stack to be able to merge together. If you have a big difference in your shoot the software may not be able to merge together.

    What does the yellow triangle with the I in it mean? Good video thank you for your help.

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod  2 года назад +1

      Yellow usually isn't too much of a problem. It could be because of a small alignment or exposure problem. What I do is get up close 100 % to see if I have any problems with the merge. If I do, I look for the image giving me the issue and remove it from the stack. If you get RED then you for sure have a problem. :-)

    Hi, this video was so helpful! Question: Can I control the amount of shots taken for each focus stack? I am a landscape photographer and I could end up with a huge amount of shots per shoot and drain my batteries quite a bit too if I am shooting 50 plus shots (plus the exposure bracketing) per location shot. I guess I better buy some more memory cards! Thanks.

    • @photobizmethod

      No worries, I do HDR focus stacking and Helicon rocks as long as you're using a tripod. I have a couple of batteries ;0) but have never had a problem.... ;-)

      My strobes are activated by the camera, not Helicon, so I'm not sure how helicon even did this. sorry.

    Hey there, thanks for your video. Ive tried it already but the time between each shoot is so long, approximately 30 second per shoot. I have a /125 shutter. Do you have a tip? I’m really annoyed 😖

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod  Год назад

      Hmmm that's weird? If you have 125th and it's lined up it shouldn't take 30 sec? Unless, you're talking about the complete shoot not just one pic? I'm not sure how many shots are needed for your stack. BTW, I've had hundreds of shots in one stack when I get really close up. I set it up and then leave the room and come back when I feel it'll be done :)

  • @Askaly
    @Askaly 2 года назад +2

    I wish the process was way faster.
    The program waits like 2 seconds before every shot whereas cameras with focus bracketing built wait only a few milliseconds.

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod  2 года назад

      Yeah, I understand but it actually needs to wait because of the camera shake. Maybe in the future, our cameras will be able to focus stack hundreds? That would be awesome :)

    • @Askaly
      @Askaly 2 года назад +1

      @@photobizmethod The camera wont shake for seconds so the wait is unecessary -
      Mirrorless cameras are already able to stack hundreds of photos today.

    If I am doing 1:1 magnification to start with, as the focus shifts, how will I be able to have 1:1 magnification on my end result.

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod  2 года назад

      Make sure that you give yourself a lot of room around the subject because when you focus shift (focus stack) you'll lose some of the subject. 1:1 will be there because you're shooting that way. Does this make sense?

  • @kannan199

    I find difficult to focus in live view mode due to subject in dark. Using flash and macbook Air. Using 100ASA in f2.8. The subject could not be seen for focussing. Other wise all settings are good. Please answer.

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod  2 года назад +1

      I love to photograph in the dark so what I do is light up the subject just for the focus. I set up the stack by selecting the front of what I'm shooting and then selecting the back of the subject. Now I'm ready... Hopefully, you've already set up your exposure with the flash prior then all you have to do is push start and let Helicon Remote do its work ;) Hope that helps...
