    My wife and I sold our 31 foot travel trailer and purchased the Kodiak 10x10 tent. We want to go to places you just can't get to with a trailer. I love your explanation of setting up and I also love the fact you are real people with children and a dog. Well done video and thanks for posting

    I researched this tent for a long time before buying it over 3 years ago. It seemed like a lot of money at the time (it was) but I went ahead and did it anyway, paying the exchange and horrendous shipping charges. (I am Canadian). Boy oh boy, am I ever glad I did! I have taken my two grandson's camping all over western Canada. We have been poured on, cooked on and chilled out in the challenging weather, but stayed dry and cozy every time in this tent. I am a 61 year old woman and can put it up by myself, but when the boys are with me we have it up in record time! They are seasoned campers! We splurged on 3 camp cots and set them along the 3 outside walls and have lots of room inside to change, eat, or cheat at cards! That tent, expensive as it was, has paid for itself and is still in mint condition, ready for a fourth summer of fun. Is it heavy? yep. Is it expensive? yep. Do you need to plate it... pump it's tires... endlessly fix things before using it... tow it... or rent a special camping spot for it? Nope! The people who make this awesome tent should be very proud of their work! Nice video by the way! I bet your family would make awesome campers next lot over!

    These are great high quality tents. I truly know, lived in one as a very rural camp manager 3 years, (to get to camp 25 miles up a logging road) I lived in it in all weather Rain, Heat, Snow and several times 50 mph winds. Stood up great. Some small bits of advice. Tilt the awning to one side or the other if it's raining, or for more shade in a particular area, if it snows, roll it up. Second, even if the ground looks ok, use a ground sheet for extra floor protection. Third, always be sure the tent is DRY before storing - really dry. Fourth, follow the instructions and "season" the canvas at least twice. Fourth? Bring a can of Camp Dry, while these tents are very weather proof, they can get a small drip. Camp Dry works well and still breathable. Also, getting that second pole up? Get a pair of non slip gloves - it helps a lot.

      Sweet Life Adventures hey question for you. Is there anyway possible to set it up without staking it down. I know I’ve used some some tents before that say staking is required but have been able to setup without stakes. They won’t stand up to wind and rain but on a nice day they will.

    • @SweetLifeAdventures
      @SweetLifeAdventures  5 лет назад

      The tent would not expand properly because the tension from the stakes holds the top supports upright. On this tent you only have the one pole across the top that would most likely just fall over. The stake are critical on this tent for the shape.

    I have this same tent, and I love it. I generally end up setting it up by myself, because my son is a bit young (he'll help with stakes and putting the pole-pin in, though) and my wife is doing-guy-stuff-averse. The only part that I've not found an easier way to do is the second end pole; getting the side up and pulling that pole up high enough to get the pin in is always a challenge by yourself. The awning can be don by preparing the ropes and hammering in the stakes (with ropes around them) ahead of time; make sure you have slack, then grab the pole and rope and do the whole thing right there. Another one-man-job easing technique is to use lag bolts and an impact driver instead of stakes (especially for the tent stakes), but you have to make sure you have enough battery to put them in and get them out.
    I love how real your video is, though; it doesn't feel overly scripted or overly produced. Real kids running wild and real people just trying to get their tent up!

    • @SweetLifeAdventures
      @SweetLifeAdventures  5 лет назад

      Definitely an awesome tent! Mine seems to be getting easier the more we set it up. Maybe the canvas isn’t so super tight like it was when we first got it, making it easier to raise the sides. The awning I’ve always had my wife to help, but if I have to do it myself those tips are great, and will make it a lot easier! Thanks for the tips and for watching merp ius.

    Such a great video and great team work! I have this same tent and with help of my wife have no issue with putting it up (also can put it up by myself but wheres the fun in that). I also use the big buddy heater and do not have a problem keeping warm when the temps dip down. We have set it up in southern Utah with high winds running through the canyon and set it up on the Oregon coast with constant rains, and in both cases the tent was stable and dry during both trips. I am debating on purchasing the added vestibule ( i think its $99 at Cabela's) but am waiting to see if anyone else can give it a thumbs up or down. Any ways thanks for the video and great looking family!

      @@SweetLifeAdventures I think it really depends on what activities your into. We like to be around water for fishing and swimming/boating or at least a creek to play in and put us to sleep at night. I'm in Eastern Oregon and while I appreciate the nature of the west side and coast, I don't travel that direction for camping because of the dense population. Also, on this side of the state you really have about every option you can imagine. High mountain/alpine lakes, high desert, dense mountain forest all the way down to the Snake river and everything in between. The parks are all pretty nice if you don't mind some neighbors and like to shower...lol. Parks can be found throughout. Tell me what you guys enjoy the most and I'd be happy to make some recommendations.

    nice video, i just cant decide on what tent, im new to camping and i will be doing my first camping trip next month in july of 2020, going to ozark national forest in arkansas, weather should be hot summer, maybe 90degrees and possibly rain, not sure, will this be good for hot climate? i dont see a way to leave a window open during rain.

    • @SweetLifeAdventures
      @SweetLifeAdventures  4 года назад

      You can leave the front windows open under the canopy as well as the side vents when it’s raining. The tent stays remarkably cool compared to other nylon tents we have had. It would definitely be a good option for you. If your in direct sun a lot any tent will be fairly warm, but like I said we have found this tent stays cooler and warmer if needed than most.! Good luck with your shopping and thank you for watching our video!

    Here's something I noticed before in other videos that might help keep the tent clean! At 12:50 into the video, you can see the dirt marks from where you were standing on the tent with your shoes while installing the top flex poles. In fact, if you stop the video at 13:03 you are pointing right at one of those marks. It might be a helpful tip to have a small tarp to stand on while installing this part of the installation poles & rods. You could wrap the poles & rods with it when breaking it down keeping it stored in the pole bag for easy access at installation. I just ordered (Competitive Edge Products .com) this tent but the VX with the end windows & waiting for it to show up on May 7th, 2020. This company is great. In contracting customer service with help with my ordering I got Charley Hansen (the host in a lot of their videos) he pulled my purchase after helping me emailing me the tracking number within seconds of the transaction going through. People that tent went out that afternoon & is halfway here! Great service from these guys! Oh, did I mention to use this discount code & save 3% (CEPCOMEBACK) which Charley freely offered. www.competitiveedgeproducts.com/Super-Deluxe-Kodiak-Canvas-Tent-6041VX-10x14-with-tarp-6043_p_23.html Happy Camping! How has it held up in rain ? I've had 2 large tents, of a different manufacturer very tough but had to bail rain from the interior twice from sideways wind/rain. Also if you don't want to raise the awning is there a way to secure it so it doesn't flap in the wind ?

    • @SweetLifeAdventures
      @SweetLifeAdventures  2 года назад

      It does great in rain. After a couple of straight days of rain you might get minimal condensation on the interior walls, but nothing leaking. The awning has several tie backs to secure it to the tent when not in use.

    How does this tent do in warmer weather. It looks like it is geared more toward cooler weather. I live in Georgia and for the most part will avoid the hottest, wettest months, but I am concerned that it can be opened up enough to breathe if it is raining as there is no mesh covered from rain except the front door.

    • @SweetLifeAdventures
      @SweetLifeAdventures  5 лет назад +2

      Canvas doesn’t transfer heat as quickly actually making it better for hot and cold weather camping. I couldn’t believe how much cooler this tent was in the summer compared to our nylon tent. You can fully open up the front windows and side vents when it’s raining if you have the canopy up in the front. It doesn’t seem like it would be cooler, but it is. I live in Idaho which has significantly less humidity compared to Georgia, but I would imagine you will experience the same results as I did.
