Also, when training with ForeFlight in XP, practice some hasty route changes. Become efficient at selecting and navigating to airports so it becomes second nature. Be able to quickly identify frequencies, runway type/length, weather, pattern altitude, and pattern entry for the selected alternate. Be able to quickly identify terrain elevations, restricted areas, controlled air space, etc., between your location and your alternate Airport. This has come in very handy for me when checking ForeFlight weather at my destination airport only to discover the weather deteriorated. Thanks to my training in XP, I didn’t even have to think through the steps to fly a selected alternate. Also, sometimes when you tap on an airport to bring up the information, it won’t come up. This can be due to a number of factors, including an airplane in the vicinity of the airport and when you tap on the airport instead it brings up the airplane information. Anyway, just press down and hold your finger somewhere near the airport and select “airports“ tab and your airport will come up in the shortlist. Some tricks I’ve learned after being frustrated at times. @@sogpilot3137 Thanks for all the help. I just got my sim a couple of weeks ago and am learning a lot. I am committed to an hour per day. I have been working on flying to new airports and practicing pattern entry. I will take your advise on the other things as well. I had an experience like you described flying into clouds unintentionally taking off out of Astoria. It scared the crap out of me, but my training took over and I popped out after a couple of minutes. I learned today how to program and IFR flight on the sim and on Forflight..so getting there. Thanks again for great content.
@@sogpilot3137 Did you mean KPLU? Top Gun is at KPLU, anyway we were there on Thursday, about 2 hours after we took off a plane crashed into the target parking lot. I was at Spencer's getting an estimate on some avionics.
Awesome that your pursuing your PPL and that you find the videos helpful. Remember to always follow your flight instructor’s instruction wherever there may be a conflict with anything contained in the video.
Glad you like them. I try to blend simulator flight and real-world flight to show how they are very compatible. Simulator flying literally saved my life 20 years ago when I got caught in IMC during a real-world flight. That’s why I take simulator flying so seriously.
I’m using PilotEdge. It requires a subscription, but is well worth it. Real controllers supporting numerous airports in the western United States. PilotEdge supports FS and X-Plane.
Hello. Once your iPad with ForeFlight is synchronized to X Plane 11 and you are logged onto pilotedge, all air traffic logged into the pilotage system will be visible to you on ForeFlight. You will notice there is not a lot of traffic and traffic that is seen will not identify aircraft type. In my experience, the aircraft are simply identified as GLDR.
SOG Pilot I have the traffic time to show up but it never did so I opened up pilotedge on my phone and checked the map view and seen traffic around me so I must me doing something wrong. I’m using my iPad not the desktop version of ForeFlight
Is PilotEdge synced with X-Plane? For example, is it showing your airplane location on ForeFlight as seen in X-Plane? Is the PilotEdge plugin loaded in X-Plane? If so, when logged onto PilotEdge, you should then see PilotEdge traffic. If not, contact PilotEdge technical support and they may be able to help you.
Awesome video man really helpful. Im based at s50, just got my PPL 4 months ago. This is really helpful!
Fly the heck out of ForeFlight in XP-11. It really helps tremendously in RW flying. I’m always learning new stuff on ForeFlight.

By the way, I had my Stratus ESG installed at S50 last December. I fly in there to eat at Top Gun sometimes.

I love you bro!!! Thank you so much! This really helps me chairfly while preparing to get my Private pilot license.

Very helpful! Thanks for the great level of detail!
Welcome. Still learning ForeFlight to this day.
Thanks for the video. Does ForeFlight download your flight plan into the Garmin 430/530 navs, or do you have to program them separately?
Hello. ForeFlight cannot interface with simulator navigation equipment.
The best ever, good luck to you
Thanks much!
does X-plane 11 have an instrument training feature like the one you described from MSFS?
No, unfortunately.
I am new to sim flights. Who were you talking to in your sim flight?
I was communicating with ATC through a subscription with PilotEdge. It’s a very useful tool for keeping radio Com skills sharp.
What level of Foreflight did this video show?!
It’s Performance Plus
Thank you....
how do you get pilotedge traffic on foreflight I know how to connect my ipad and foreflight to pilot edge?

SOG Pilot yes I’m showing up in ForeFlight at the correct place and it showed my movement
I found the pilot edge team very helpful when directing questions to them. Let me know how you make out on this issue.
