For the brakes it might just be that there's air in the brake lines because that usually happens when you change something like that out. Air gets in the brake lines and it doesnt work. You gotta drain the brake lines out and keep refilling ur brake reservoir and also check for any cracks or splits in ur brake lines

Use hood pins for the hood till you find a decent set of hinges you like. Theres a place called classic industries you can get universal billet hinges from.
