Jared Keeso is to Canadian TV comedy like The Tragically Hip is to Canadian music. I am by no means a hockey fan and yet Keeso can bring out Canadian culture through the storytelling of a struggling north Ontario hockey franchise. What is even more important is that the show is able to put a comedic spin towards the various Canadian cultures without so much as a hint of political division or insult. THAT IS TRUE WRITING TALENT. Screw LA and Hollywood - let's make sure talent like Keeso stays in Canada and give him (and whoever else is helping him write the scripts for shows like Letterkenney and Shoresy) more budget money to produce this type of content.
What I can't get over is how accurate this is for interactions between players and referees, especially at higher levels of hockey. Now the chirps are over the line for the most part, no one would go as far a shorsey, but I've definitely got into my fair share of verbal exchanges as a ref. As we say you chirp us, we'll chirp you back.
the timing of keeso changing from his sway to standing still when the guy says jurk offs (1:12) is such a subtle hilarious command of physical humor and then the no look puck pass from the linesman, so good
