Andy is a great player and teacher... we are blessed to have him so accesable to us...I met and saw him with my idol and and favorite g-player...Legendary F. Richard Betts...peace
So surprised and excited to find this site so well rooted in the legendary sounds of early electrified Chicago/Texas styeel controlled voicing and muting! Lord have Mercy!
Came for Freddie, stayed to drool over that Les Paul... BTW you want to play like Freddie? Have the attitude. He absolutely was the bridge guitar player to rock. Anyone can find the I IV V but you have to feel it. Don't copy him, play rhythm over some of his stuff and then take off on your own, you'll feel it. Also, BIG KEY: Dynamics. Let the music have air for the notes to sing and be heard.

that tone reminds me of one john dawson winter; who incidentally was on the cover of the first guitar world magazine back in 1980. i still have the issue.
Sry wish I could remember--could be a Deluxe with an OCD or straight into an EVH III; we used a lot of different set-ups at GW...some viewers apparently don't dig the non-Freddie like tone, but if you listen to a live version of Freddie playing the song from the 70s, it's way more distorted than this...
@@AndyAledort777 Hi Andy ,its James from Facebook. I just PMd you LOL. I just LOVE the Break Up on the tone you had going on there. Sure, it could be done on a EVH III. It all in the EQ, and the pedals settings if used. The only devices I never tried are those Line 6 Helix, or the AXE FE, or Kemper Profiler, etc. I have to go buy a Fender Blues DeVille Now (4 x 10) of course. Keep up the Great work Andy. going to check out your 'Blue Sky' Tutorial now. I have been playing that one all wrong too for 35 years LOL
Meet Freddie King in Holland Michigan when I was 14 years old glad you're keeping his memory alive the way your playing Hideaway will work but its not the way Freddie played it
Are there any lessons showing how to be proficient with freddies metal finger pick/ plastic thumb pick style? I can make some videos on it if there arent any
This is great in terms of the notes, but I wish I could find something about Freddie's right hand; he used a thumb pick and a finger pick on his index finger. I wish I could see someone demonstrate that.
Hey try out black mountain thumb picks- they are built very differently than the typical thumb picks. They have different sizes and different ‘tensions’
@@lomoholga I just watched a couple of demos on the Black Mountains. I'm going to order the variety pack. Thanks for the tip; I can't wait to try them.
@@BCRSIX you will probably like them. I like the ‘small’ version that has an extra tight spring. Variety pack is the way to go for sure. Only bad thing is they are overpriced in my opinion
@@lomoholga Yeah, I was in kind of Sticker Shock when I ordered them, but I haven’t bought anything in a long time. The only issue will be explaining to my wife, when the box comes in, as to why I need more picks. I have literally hundreds of guitar picks, in cans, bowls, baggies, boxes, etc… going back to the 1960’s. Lots of flat picks, and several varieties of thumb and finger picks. She will not understand why I need more picks. Whenever o buy a new guitar, I get “I thought you already have a guitar!”. Takes hours to explain, but in the end, she’s always cool. I have to play her some Led Zeppelin, followed by a round of Cannonball Rag, then she’s ok.
I saw him play love at a place by me. He is just a really cool, down to earth, chill person. Let me check out his gear and talked music with me for awhile. He had a guitar that was owned by SRV he was playing that night and let me check it out. If you ever read this, thank you ! You should check out an album he made that he plays the stumble on. He is an amzing guitarist and a cool person. Stay Safe ✌ 😃 ✝ ❤

So only those posting videos of themselves performing get to comment and offer feedback or simply state an opinion? That's the logical conclusion of what you've set up. The whole "post your videos" bit is a common knee-jerk retort by those too simple or lazy to concern themselves with substantive critique. The relevant question is whether the guy actually watched the lesson, not some non-sequitur nonsense about whether or not a RUclips commenter posted video. By your idiot logic, a person that merely completed a course as a student would not be qualified to evaluate either the content of that course or the way in which that content was presented
With all due respect, this video should be called----- "How to TRY to Play Like Freddie King". Because NOBODY can play like Freddie King except Freddie King himself. Freddie wasn't just a master guitarist in every way, he was also a fabulous singer, and above all, Freddie King was a complete musician. The kind the rest of the cats look up too. He had it all, he was the greatest, and he stands alone. There are others on his level, but very few.
Ever notice all these White guys who play the blues dress and try to look disheveled as though that's going to put them on the same level has a black blues player but black blues players dress to the nines if you ever notice , their sharp-looking, Muddy Waters don't dress this way or Freddy king
Always clear, informative and to the point. Andy is the best guitar teacher alive. Hands down. His Axis:Bold as Love DVD is outstanding. Thx, Andy.
Andy is really fantastic at breaking this style down in a way that is very easy to understand, awesome job.
Andy Adeldort has been around for decades as a top tier guitar teacher
Hideaway was the first electric blues song that really made me sit up and listen to the blues,in the mid sixties

Great lesson, Andy. Thank you for sharing. Wicked tone!
Killer lesson Andy !!
always wonderful to hear you playin...
You're a swell teacher, Andy. Thanks for this.
Love the tone!
me too! I wonder what his rig is
I hate it - why the rock sound with this classic blues tutorial ?
A lot of subtle stuff goin' on here that make the tune!
17 Years of age and Mr. Freddie AND Albert King have been my beacons of Music for a couple years along with of course Skynyrd n the Allmans and MTB

Hideaway is such a killer song,Clapton,King,SRV,AA. It is all so good.
Freddie was born in '34
Andy is a good instructor and typically picks the essentials for these short lessons. Is it me, or does he always seem to have just smoked a bowl ? ;)
I hope so...

Great lesson.
I wonder who'll inherit this LP of Andy's when he eventually passes away? It's a belter.
awesome lesson
Really dig this video. Thanks for sharing.
The distortion kills the Freddie vibe
David Longoria that is a lot of bite.
Freddie played pretty clean
Freddie didn't need no stinkin' stomp box.
True, but it's called 'In the style of Freddie King'...it's the techniques rather than how to duplicate Freddie exactly.

Early Clapton is more Freddie King than any other influence. Same with the Brits who followed Clapton.
Eric Clapton wishes he was half as good as Freddie King.

Clapton also had an obsession with Albert King. Plagiarizing Albert’s “Pretty Woman” break in “Strange Brew”
and borrowed Albert for the 7 notes of layla. That said-Clapton is a hell of a singer, writer, and player. This is not a minority view.
