  • Hello, everyone; welcome back to my channel and to another car chat. If you're new here, hi, I'm Sarah. I'm your everything-savvy friend, and on this channel, I talk about a little bit of everything, which is why I'm saying I'm everything-savvy. Car chats is a series on my channel, that has become everything, where we talk about various topics.
On the chopping block today, we have gas prices, and how to beat the system, high yield savings accounts, which I've talked about previously, and the balance between a 9 to 5 and everything else.
    *Gas Prices:*
Gas prices are what they are. In the few years before COVID, we were paying 2 dollars and some change for a gas tank. Now, prices were up to close to four dollars at one point over the last 3 years.
The fact of the matter is that if you buy gas wholesale, you can beat the system. It doesn't matter if we are drilling on our own land for gas or buying it from another country, the wholesale price often offsets the difference.
To me, it's worth it. Mind you, the BJ's Plus card costs $ 110/year, but I spend double that on gas, and the savings I get are probably close to that or more per year.
So what's interesting though is that there is guy by the name of Stanley Meyer, who developed a water-powered engine. He died in a restaurant after drinking cranberry juice. Later, in 2006, BMW created a Hydrogen version of its Seven series, proving his idea in a way that water would play a role in powering a vehicle.
    *Hi-Yield Savings Account:*
I have talked about this once before and I will talk about it again because number one it's extremely exciting and number two people need to know about ways to make their money work for them. So, I have a couple of different hi-yield savings accounts. One of them is through Goldman Sachs. The other is through Capital One.
What's nice about both of these is that you get your interest at the end of the month. Because the last thing that needs to be happening is is sitting in the account with a .1% interest rate.
I use Goldman Sachs and the Apple card I like a lot better because I get interested on every single purchase I make in addition to 1, 2, or 3% back. that goes into my savings account which then adds to the total balance I received at the end of the month and interest.
*Balancing Life and Update on My New Job:*
So this week was the first week I was kind of a little bit stressed at work, but it was because I got this huge list of things that needed to be done some of which I had never done before but like whatever, I love a good challenge, I still love my job, so it is what it is. I love how we use Mac because I do.
This week was also the first week that I turned in an assignment late for grad school. A discussion post. In my defense, I was working on it the night I was due, but then I fell asleep. Woke up with four minutes to spare until 11:59.
I went for a 30-minute walk yesterday, and it was great. I decided that I am going to be buying another Apple Watch for fitness purposes. But the walk that turned into 30 minutes was meant to be only 15.
My work-life balance is far better at this point than it was a few months ago. Even though I have more on my plate, I don't know how that works but it is what it is.
This week I was really frustrated with my assignments because there was a 20 page case study which I read, but the case study said the exact same thing over and over and over again, and that thing was more research is needed. Then I had to write a six page paper on case study when I didn't even understand when I had read because it was foreign to me. It's really not that difficult to understand, but it was frustrating. I was drinking coffee at 9 o'clock yesterday at night and so that was fun but I did sleep awfully well but anyway it was a mess but we got it done. I actually completed my discussion this afternoon and also my journal entry and then my case study on tweaking a little bit before I turn it in. Then we will go on and do the next week and prosper.
I just hope I'll be able to find time to go to church on Thursday night this week. I hate not going on Thursday night because my dad and I go together, and it's someone that we both enjoy, but when I can't go because I feel like I have too much to do or I have a homework assignment, it's definitely something I struggle with.
I think everybody struggles with balancing their life and anything outside of work, but it is definitely difficult and to me my graduate school program is basically like a second job and if you throw RUclips in that mix I have three jobs.

Gas in my neck of the woods, is $5.04 gal rg. Recommend paying with cash to get that lowest price. $50.00 brought me just a little over 1/2 a tank, have a 15-gallon tank. GasBuddy app price today at the same station I paid cash. is $5.14.. Comparatively Costco is $4.95, I don't use Costco for gas on a regular basis any longer as I was declined at the pump last week ...due to not having the preauthorization amount in my checking of $150.00. I am now pulling out gas cash and a little extra to put aside every paycheck. Also getting out to do something in nature is a great brain and body re-set/grounding. :-)

When I was in college late 90s early 2000s, PC was better, but a few years ago I switched to Mac. It is so much better now, especially being able to link tablet to phone to laptop. I never have any problems with my Mac, whereas I feel the last PC I got was slow and glitchy right out of the box.

Agreed! I used PC all throughout high school and then didn’t start using Mac until my first semester of college. I’ve never had a PC last longer than a year and a half without having battery issues or some other issues.
