I love Bill, but the only thing he ever is wrong about is when he mixes up the gospel of Thomas and the act of John. Both are books that are powerful and beautiful and that’s why the church remove them from the Bible. Bill has so much to remember, and preach is no wonder he doesn’t mix up more things. The gospel of Thomas is more of a text that explains that we are light and makes a really big deal of the God and the light within us. It also paints Jesus as a very different character. The kings of Commagene (southeast of Turkey) venerated Mithra. Mithradates VI of Pontus may have been a worshipper of the god, and his allies, the Cilician pirates, are known to have performed Mithraic ceremonies (67 BCE). Christianity is not Biblical. It rejects Jesus statement concerning Him being Lord. Paul says we must confess Jesus as Lord for salvation. Jesus said that we cannot call him Lord unless we are actually doing what he said to do. Christianity teaches that there is nothing we must do and so they say the prayer and come to the altar.
