Pier fishing is a different kind of kind of sport..its like a game of dodge ball..keep your head moving ..never assume anything..lol..i was watching jacks video...he almost got smoked ..never ever point out over the water..if dont want 20 people casting over your line..great video brant..keep up the great work..
I would enjoy seeing you take your own boat out there and fish off/away from the pier. We had luck in the area (in the past) with Spanish macks, but never something as large as a Tarpon. Last week, We stayed at "Littlehouse on the Bayou" in Niceville (had planned on bringing my own boat for some fishing, SCUBA, and freediving), and spent more of our time down closer to Destin, and made a brief smelly visit to the beach of Ft. Walton to visit my brother-in-law (that had been my favorite beach, and I had previously recommended that they stay there), and it was covered in Dead fish and grass. I was strongly considering hiring you to guide my family and I in the Pensacola area. However, we only stayed there Friday night, to catch the Incredible Blue Angles Airshow on the beach. Possibly next year, we will look into spending more time in your backyard.
Man that's an awesome set up, that's the set up you use in the panhandle!! Best set up for out there and YES so another video there, and you should also go out there at sunrise one day and catch a limit of Spanish in the morning just throw a gotcha and boom
I mean, im not saying it has to be tarpon or that pier specifically.. but i would be very cool with more pier videos in general. Love your channel, keep it up. Thanks
Go back for sure Brant I love to see some good pier fishing and best of luck to you. Also if you catch a Bonita or anything out there you could make it into a catch and cook cause who doesn't love those!
You forgot the "I" after the first and Brant. I love pier fishing so definitely would be interested in seeing some more videos out there. Maybe give up some tips and tricks.
AnglerUp with Brant I love doing pier fishing. We used to vacation at St George Island and I have seen tarpon there on the old highway pier. Now since I moved to Bradenton, FL we fish the Skyway Pier and have hooked a couple. But usually they are off after a jump or two!
you should go back nut you should also fish with me I live in fort Walton I hve been dming you to fish with you and you said you would hmu but neverdid still you are my favorite fishing youtube keep up the good content
And by the way.....is it possible that Tarpon is actually good but just a pain to clean? Maybe it would eat like one of those other types of fish that people don't generally eat that you've featured on some of your catch and cook videos..........from watching those vids you've been surprised by a couple of them. Guarantee you'd be the only catch and cook Tarpon vid on RUclips! Heck I don't even know if it is legal to keep them.
best part was when yak says "I thought somebody was gonna get hooked" defiantly go back just take some body Armour it gets crazy sometimes out in kaloosa pier
That pier is great if you like being completely stressed out while trying to fish. You haven't lived until you see everyone casting sabiki's three feet from each other...
Was out there yesterday afternoon and around 1630 someone hooked up on a reallllly nice sized one and walked it down the pier a ways. I was satisfied with catching Remora and blue runner on sabikis and cut bait, and after remembering your catch and cook episode with them I tried it and it wasn't bad. Thanks for giving fish equal rights as to tastiness lol. Keep on keepin on.
Not to tell you off or anything but I think you shouldn't be using braid with those guides because when u hook up on a huge fish the braid will saw through your guides unless you have ceramic but I'm not 100% sure lol.
LOL If you aren't 100% sure you should probably not say anything. That's a lesson I have learned in life. That's a $1000 combo built specifically for monster fish off the pier. Braided line is a must on that pier for two reasons. Casting distance is one of them and strength is the second. That exact combo with braid has pulled in 25 Tarpon over the last year that have weighed anywhere from 70 to 120 pounds. Those guides are a lot stronger than ceramic.
Do outdoors I usually use a small spoon or a bubble rig, gotcha plug and if ur going for kinda use cigar minows, and for tarpon use swimbaits or big spoons
Nice vid man, i appreciate the change of pace because i myself do not own a boat. So i can relate more, thanks

Man I wish I would have known. Maybe you could do a fan meet up that would be cool!

You forgot the "I" after the first and Brant.
I love pier fishing so definitely would be interested in seeing some more videos out there. Maybe give up some tips and tricks.
Would yall be more successful taking the whole yak team out and fishing off the beach with the boat? Or do the tarpon get skiddish from the boat?
Try Navarre Pier! Do some talks on pier fishing in general and how it's different.
Troy Marcus Good idea.
Nice, do you ever find yourself doing charters in the Destin area?
thatmarriedguy I don't. Only in Pensacola
There's tarpon in navarre pier Brant, you guys should go there one day!!!
I was there from 430am to 8am the same day and the Tarpon didn't show. Caught my first earlier that week and I am hooked.
Eric Torres Yeah man it's fun. I grew up pier fishing. That's where I really learned how to fish.
Have you ever tried buccaneer glass minnow? card of 12 is $14 on ebay
i ran a inshore trip yesterday with my dad and we boxed 1 keeper red 2 small black drum and 13 white trout and ground mullet!!

BJ Greaves Yeah I'm probably going to go back this week.
AnglerUp with Brant I love doing pier fishing. We used to vacation at St George Island and I have seen tarpon there on the old highway pier. Now since I moved to Bradenton, FL we fish the Skyway Pier and have hooked a couple. But usually they are off after a jump or two!
Was just there two months ago. They were fishing shark. Very cool place
I dont think ive ever seen so many van staals in one video, I only have one and there's people out there with like 5 of em LMAO
What rod were you using and what size of Van Staal?
Go out there and make a video about catching jacks and bonito
I left about 30 seconds before you showed up, I was there all day and the tarpon fishing was slow all day.
Man I was in Santa Rosa last week and Friday it was nasty weather.
Try Navarre they run up close in the light green emerald water everyday left side
I want to fish Florida....but not like that. Thanks for the video!
Are you going to be up there tomorrow? I'll be there!
go back again. and could you make a video of you fishing with a bobber and dead shrimp? Just to see what you could catch with that.
That's crazy fishing there. way to crowded
Floridakeys Diver yeah every time I go it’s really crowded so as the parking too
I've been wanting to meet u for for ever and we vacationed there a week ago

Ishrak Antar you must be Asian
Jacob P yup I am from Bangladesh. But why such reply? 😆😆

Definitely go back
Go for it 👍🏻🎣😎
nice vid dude
Assuming you are not going to eat the Tarpon....I don't think anyone does........how do you plan to catch and release one from a pier?
Greg Kerr Good question 👍
Greg Kerr Obviously no one eats Tarpon. Just take them to the beach. There are over 500 caught off that pier annually.
Wow....how far to the beach from the end of the pier....looks like it is a haul?
And by the way.....is it possible that Tarpon is actually good but just a pain to clean? Maybe it would eat like one of those other types of fish that people don't generally eat that you've featured on some of your catch and cook videos..........from watching those vids you've been surprised by a couple of them. Guarantee you'd be the only catch and cook Tarpon vid on RUclips! Heck I don't even know if it is legal to keep them.
Greg Kerr you have to buy a tag to keep one a year and the tags ain't cheap!
👍🏻
Why do most people prefer van staal in Florida?
because they look nice and there really light for the amount of line that they hold
Are you aloud to bring your own rod and reels there
Yes.
AnglerUp with Brant why does everyone on the pier use the same exact setup and what months are the tarpon around the pier
Thats a funky lookin reel
Liam Chang It's a Van Stall. All the pier guys use them. $800 reel.
AnglerUp with Brant van staal* jk. Why do they need such an expensive reel? You could just used a 200$ one and catch as much tarpon.
maaaaan you guys are spoiled down in florida!!
Pier fishing is like a contact sport sometimes it gets wild. But I would like to see you hang a tarpon that would be awesome
best part was when yak says "I thought somebody was gonna get hooked" defiantly go back just take some body Armour it gets crazy sometimes out in kaloosa pier
Gulf Coast Yakin Tell me about it!
Try a slower retrieve next time. I've been out there a few times. Good luck
cchoque93 It looked faster on camera than it really was. It's the same speed all the Tarpon gurus on the pier were reeling
Yes
what happened to the trash can slam!!!
Tarpon repeat for sure!
That pier is great if you like being completely stressed out while trying to fish. You haven't lived until you see everyone casting sabiki's three feet from each other...
How do you catch a tarpon on a pier
Go again .. hahah lol
Should say when you go again
Was out there yesterday afternoon and around 1630 someone hooked up on a reallllly nice sized one and walked it down the pier a ways. Not to tell you off or anything but I think you shouldn't be using braid with those guides because when u hook up on a huge fish the braid will saw through your guides unless you have ceramic but I'm not 100% sure lol.
Oh wait it wasn't ur rod lol idunno
LOL If you aren't 100% sure you should probably not say anything. That's a lesson I have learned in life. That's a $1000 combo built specifically for monster fish off the pier. AnglerUp with Brant I didn't know that thanks for the heads up man! If you know the rod name can you please tell me. Thanks. ;D

No Fort Walton Beach, Florida
You guys are cool as hell. I wish I could hang with you guys.
Go back to okaloosa. Do some tarpon fishin and a catch and cook remora.

Expensive reel!
I go to that pier all the time always catch Bonita and Spanish
That is an awesome pier!
Yaya Adam son I'm heading down to that area in a week what's some good bait to use
Do outdoors I usually use a small spoon or a bubble rig, gotcha plug and if ur going for kinda use cigar minows, and for tarpon use swimbaits or big spoons
Try again mane... I love pier fishing
