I met Elvis in July 1975 at a gas station in Memphis. We talked for about 35 minutes as his friends tried to restart his new '76 Cadillac. What a great person he was...friendly, willing to talk to fans , very funny. His girl friend, Linda Thompson, got out of the car and started talking to my girl friend!! It was like a double date!! My memory of that meeting is as fresh now as it was the day I met him.
The new model year of car would NOT have come out until October, so Elvis couldn't have had a 1976 Caddy in July of '75. It would've had to be a '75 model.
Wow how lucky was you I would have been completely star struck if I was lucky enough to have met him but also impossible as I was only 3 years old when he passed !! But what amazing memory to have

Follow that dream is my all time favorite Elvis movie! I agree with you about his performance in the courtroom. I feel like this movie was so underated and he didn't get credit he deserved for this role.
Decades ago, a teenager watched “Follow that Dream” thousands miles away in Taipei, such a pleasant film. Now I’m in USA for 40 years. Thank you for the Memory Lane work!
I too, watched the movie thousends of miles away in east Germany in the mid 80s. I never got to Florida, but I have been to Graceland almost 10 times over the years. Back then, when I was unfree in coummunist east Germany, movies such as Follow That Dream helped me to maintain hope and at last in 1989, I was 17, the satanic wall came down and I and millions of erst germans were finally free. Elvis, the American Dream are both very important to me. Let's hope America will get better and will again be a becon of hope and the shining City of Freedom!
Great video retracing his steps on follow that dream... Really good movie and Elvis displayed a talent for comedy with a dead pan role and gear comic timing... Some good songs also especially the title song Follow that Dream...
Awesome EP video for us non-American ELVIS FANS. Can you feel our sadness until these days that THE KING didn't tour the world for live concert performances. And so we'll just keep on reliving our dreams to seeing our idol and constantly listen to his nostalgia driving song titled "FUNNY HOW TIME SLIPS AWAY"!!!

Thanks for sharing. I lived in Tampa from 1968-71 and then later lived in Ocala in the 1980's, so I recognized a lot of places. The bank you pictured was where my husband and I went to get a loan to buy a piece of land out by the Ocala airport. A lot of things have changed.
I'm a fan of the movie "Follow That Dream". The opening of the film is fantastic. I like of the scenish. The actors, especially Elvis Presley, acted very well.

I saw this video a long time ago but I had a erge to watch it again. This is my favorite vlog you did being a Tom Petty and Elvis fan. The story about Tom being a little boy meeting Elvis. I was like wow that's heavy. That's a amazing story about rock and roll history that many people don't even know about. And you tell it well Jay. 👍 great story man. I just had to hear it again. Being from Brooksville and raised in Florida knowing a cool story like that happening in my own backyard is so awesome 👌

This is my favorite Elvis movie with Blue Hawaii coming in second. I have watched a couple of other videos on the follow that dream highway but yours is the most informative and entertaining. I plan to get there someday to see it for myself, especially the homestead and bridge.

Excellent job! This is one of my favorite that you've done. I need to rewatch the movie. I haven't seen it in many years. I could tell you really put in some research on this one.
I grew up with the film soundtrack 45 EP of this film (RCX 211). Along with Kid Galahad and Jailhouse Rock. My dad's records really that I still have. I heard the music before I saw the film and realised there were six songs in the film. Four on the EP, but really Elvis recorded 5 in the studio, sixth song was 'On Top of Old Smokey'. The 45 EP was re-released in 1981 in UK with 5 songs (RCX 7196). Real nice film comparisons.

Really cool to see this. I went to high school in Tampa but I've been in LA now for over 35 years. I have a colleague who worked directly with Elvis (acting) in another movie. I worked with a lady once who also co-starred with him in yet another one. It's wild to see how similar everything looks!
Great video tour! Thank you. I was fortunate enough to see Elvis perform three times in person. When I was a student at Ohio State he performed at St. John Arena in Columbus. Students got first dibs on tickets. I was lucky to by in the 7th row dead center in front of the stage. Incredible memory that I will never forget. America has lost a number of things over the years but we can still lay claim to The King!

TJ, Kool filming location ...I stayed at the Holiday Inn, in Lakeland on I-4 many years ago and stayed in the Elvis, double suite there, very surreal

Love that movie got on dvd
I grew up with the film soundtrack 45 EP of this film (RCX 211). Along with Kid Galahad and Jailhouse Rock. My dad's records really that I still have. I heard the music before I saw the film and realised there were six songs in the film. Four on the EP, but really Elvis recorded 5 in the studio, sixth song was 'On Top of Old Smokey'. The 45 EP was re-released in 1981 in UK with 5 songs (RCX 7196). Real nice film comparisons.

Man, I’m so glad you made this video! I used to love this movie as a kid! Now that I know where the location is I will probably have to stop by the fishing bridge location for a picnic while listening to “Oh I’m not the marrying kind”.

Really cool to see this. I went to high school in Tampa but I've been in LA now for over 35 years. I have a colleague who worked directly with Elvis (acting) in another movie. I worked with a lady once who also co-starred with him in yet another one. It's wild to see how similar everything looks!

Great video tour! Thank you. I was fortunate enough to see Elvis perform three times in person. When I was a student at Ohio State he performed at St. John Arena in Columbus. Students got first dibs on tickets. I was lucky to by in the 7th row dead center in front of the stage. Incredible memory that I will never forget.
America has lost a number of things over the years but we can still lay claim to The King!
