  • These ex-Pretty Things recorded their new album "Parachute Reborn" in The John Wood Studios in Malaga Spain(JohnWoodStudios.com). John Wood, who was the engineer on the project, somehow found time to put this video together. He tells me these same four blokes can be seen playing the same song from from their 1971 concert at The Paris Olympia (on RUclips). Bass/Vocals Wally Waller, Organ/Harp Jon Povey, Guitar Pete Tolson, Drums Skip Alan.

Pete Tolson has passed away. A very sad time for all of us who knew him and made music with him. We are all very shocked at his passing. He was without doubt one of the best lead guitarists of our generation. Sleep well Pete.Miss you buddy Jon Povey May 2016XX

+Jonathan Povey What a sad loss, especially given a fact of the promise of his musical career being revitalized being so well-marked. R.I.P. Peter Tolson, you will live forever in the wonderful recordings that you made, and in the hearts of everyone who loves The Pretty Things.

right on john, ive been watching those clips from paris olympia 71 and pete Tolson is amazing, he just flies. very impressive, lovely natural style...but a bit confronting for a sloppy mid 50s lead player like me.

    Its understandable...
This was such a phenominal song on one of the only early free form radio stations (WABX Deroit). However, most americans had no idea that this existed.
Throughout my later life, I searched for it, and here it is... Enjoy!!! Thank you Pretty Things.

How many identical lineups can perform the same material 40 years later at such a fresh & elite level? Four seasoned musicians completely focused, on top of their game in perfect sinc. Can't wait for the CD release with Pete's presence this time around. Enormously underated crew. Maybe this time around!

This is Pete Tolson who joined the PT's right after Vic Unitt played on "Parachute" bigtone (as well as appearing on their seminal Bootleg Psychedelic Album "Philippe Debarge" from 1969 which has been re-mastered & is available at Mike Stax's Ugly Things website)
before leaving & basically NEVER being seen nor heard from to this day, despite MASSIVE efforts to locate him for their Autobiography & DVD projects!!..Best, EW

I bought the album as soon as I heard about it. Wally should have been big....I mean BIG!
Pete Tolson & Vic Unitt were both members of the Edgar Broughton Band at different times too. Pete was on the Parlais Vous English album in 1979. I asked Rob (Edgar) about Vic & he didn't appear too keen to answer, other than to comment that 'another band member insisted we record his songs as well as mine'.
    nice to hear from you
ps. The hilippe Debarge album is now all over youtube.

I bought a copy of *Philippe Debarge*. I listen to it frequently. No Norman Smith, but it yet rocks.

Parchute (album) by The Pretty Things, has some great moments. I actually play it more than SF Sorrow these days.
They were always the band that never became one that everyone knew about. Shame. I much prefer them to The Rolling Stones. If only Mick Taylor had joined The Pretty Things instead of the Rolling Stones.

TOTALLY agree on the Great (& super nice Kat') Wally Waller....X PT's updated "Cries from Midnight Circus" is AMAZING (the WHOLE Album is EXCELLENT!!) on the X PT's album huh BT'??....
Speaking of "Philippe Debarge" check out & ENJOY MY Fav' (may be my Fav' track of theirs period??) song "You Might Even Say" clip on You-tube (EVERYBODY included!!) Amigo!!

NOt too shabby, Pete was a bit more ambitious in the original 71' version,,,,took more chances. After watching the original so many times, I miss the green shirt with the red star!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Vic Unitt play guitar on the original album?
    Whatever happened to him?
    Is Vic there?

Some years ago, I saw an assemblage of PT members at a local club. I had the foresight to bring a collection of PT's albums to be signed. While identifying the faces in the photo of the centerfold of *Parachute*, Phil May told me that Victor Unit, originator of all those marvelous riffs, was working in a women's shoe store.
Sounds sad, but he left his mark on the universe more than you or I have.
