Thank you for pushing past your anxiety to create something meaningful. The Little Miss Sunshine essay is one I come back to again and again because it makes me feel better about myself and the world.
I really appreciate your little miss sunshine video! And this one of course. You have a way of writing and editing that really gets the human condition. I hope you can continue to give us little nuggets of wisdom in your journey!!
This is an incredible video man! You definitely deserve more attention and I hope you gain it! The work put into this is evident and I hope you continue making content.
I love video essays that capture the feelings we experience while watching movies, unlike others that focus more on technical aspects. Your videos connect on an emotional level, and I'm grateful for that.
I love the message at the end and thank you for opening up about your own creative process! I wasn’t very intrigued by Tick Tick BOOM when the trailer was released because I felt it was targeted towards those who loved RENT or musicals in general. This video definitely convinced me that it caters to a larger audience and I’ll be watching it soon! Great video as always!!
It’s comforting to know there really are other people who share similar thoughts with me. I feel like I’ve spent more time thinking than writing the past couple years. But I’ve been taking notes still and working on organizing those thoughts into something a little more structured than a loose journal. I’m trusting the process. I feel as though some things in life are better experienced in the moment and reflected on later once you’ve gained some perspective and mature into yourself a little more. That being said I’m 27 now and I know my younger self would think I was ridiculous for letting a dumb number like that hang over my head like it does sometimes. And then I have to remind myself I’m twenty-fucking-seven. So, I should have a decent-sized chunk of time, Lord willin’. So thank you for taking the time to put these videos together and I’d say there are more than a few that share my thoughts on that. And now I think to myself “We’ll see how this ages.”
Watched this video (phenomenal btw) and just assumed this channel had 1 or 2 million subscribers, or at least the video itself. This deserves so much more attention
Having watched the movie recently I absolutely loved your perspective on it, really made me think about it more profoundly. Really excited to see Little Miss Sunshine now as well and watch your video about it. Congrats! :)
Thank you. I hope you enjoy Little Miss Sunshine. I love films that make me think about life in general. I'm putting together a video on Jojo Rabbit which is also one of my favourite movies.
Just watching this again, since I'm in the process of working on my next video. For me, the hardest part really is the voiceover - not just performing it, which is a nightmare each and every single time since I'm both self-conscious and mumble like crazy - but also splicing together all the good takes. If I could somehow click my fingers and have that part done, I might have double the videos out by now. The thought of it slows me down so much - building up to doing the voiceover adds at least a week to every production cycle for me.
I completely understand what you mean. I'm working on a video about Breaking Bad right now. (out tonight if I'm not lazy) I recorded the audio for it on Sunday. And for the first time in a while I felt quite self-conscious about how I spoke. And as a result it was harder for me not to mumble or slur my words. I'm not sure what caused it. With my first few videos, particularly my first Breaking Bad one, I sound so nervous and lack so much confidence. I didn't know how to put on 'the voice'. So last year when I decided to start making videos again, I would record the audio at night while drinking alcohol. I'm actually tipsy/drunk in my Little Miss Sunshine video. I don't recommend doing this though. I don't do it anymore, and for the most part recording audio has become easier for me. I just mentioned it to show how much it can be an issue for me too. Before I ever started to make videos, I always told myself that my accent was not what RUclips 'wants'. Because every video essay channel had either the generic American accent or the typical English one. I felt that the way I spoke wasn't destined to be a voice that explains things and even entertains people. But that's wrong, of course. I wonder if you've ever thought that too.
@@MovieSketch I honestly think you've got a great voice for RUclips. Deep and expressive. Talking about "the voice" is so accurate though, haha. I spent an hour the other day trying to record 60 seconds of usable voiceover and ended up getting pissed off and deleting it all because it just didn't sound right. To record, I need to be in the right headspace of confidence to balance out enunciation with speaking in my actual voice, because I mumble and I think my voice sounds really fucking boring. I get comments saying that my voice sounds posh when in reality it really doesn't, haha. Trying to come across as yourself is surprisingly difficult sometimes. I'm also in a permanent state of having microphone issues but I've just accepted that my voice will always sound too bassy, or not bassy enough, or hissy, or crackly, or whatever. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but if your nerves are caused by worries that people will judge you, just remember: fuck them all. And if you're worried about things not being perfect, you're doing yourself a disservice by disallowing yourself to be a novice. Everything is practice, man. You are allowed to fuck up and be imperfect.
@@dennigalla Thanks, I relate to you needing to be in the right headspace. It's the same with all the stages of making a video really. Particularly writing. Yeah, my microphone has a mind of its own sometimes haha. By the way, I noticed you gained a fair few subs in the past week or so. Very well deserved.
I just found your channel and I just wanted to say that I love your videos! I hope to see more from you in the future. This video helped me view the world in a different light, so thank you.
