I applaud them for trying to fix this in an early patch. Good on them. It might still need a little tuning but, hey, I'm still playing them game regardless.
So in 2017, we're all beta testers now?
By your logic, we've always been beta testers then. Games having patches after they've come out is not new.
Ethan H. But the difference back then compared to now, is that back then they didn't release the alpha game, and an unfinished pile of shit. Same case with No Man's Sky. Beta testing isn't supposed to be a crutch, to find all the mistakes and bugs. It's supposed to be a way of improving the game and giving feedback. A few bugs and problems are fine, but there shouldnt be a buggy mess at launch, thats unnacceptable for a triple A game and a big company like Bioware. It's shameful that most companies now a days can't even spend a couple more time to release a polished game. At least CD ProjektRed and NaughtyDog knows how it's done.

Low Kin Yee I have no idea what you're trying to say, but if it's that all the Asari in mass effect Andromeda look the same, then here's a few things to think about.
First, how you distinguish Asari is by their faces and coloration. And if you pay attention, you'll notice all the Asari that aren't generic NPCs do indeed have unique faces and colorations. If you didn't see it, look closer.
Second, Andromeda has as much variety in how its Asari look as every Mass effect game does. Have you actually looked at Asari from past games at all? Because they're equal to Andromeda in terms of how different Asari look from each other.
Third, what if an Asari said all humans look the same? Wouldn't you consider that just a tad bit racist? Think before you just say things.
And what is up with their length??
All Asari were sleek in ME1-3, and suddenly they're far more portly.
Like a triathlon 25 yo got replaced by a sulky 15 yo....?
Wow, you can even see past Ryders eyes and see that she now actually has a soul instead of a ninja dressed llama inside her head pushing the buttons..... oh wait no, that's still there.

give it two more months....that is when all the patches should be on (at least that is what they said) I really like the game. they story isn't the best ME story (but it's not as bad as people are making it out to be) but compare to the second one none of them are but imo think it is a good set up for a sequel. the gameplay is so good and a big Improvement from the other games.....but the only person that can tell you if the game is good or bad is you. don't listen to other people and follow the crowd. see for yourself. if you still aren't sure after all the patches then wait for it to be on sell. be your own person👍
I'll pile on the "Wait" wagon and say wait for the first story DLC even. I pre-ordered it and was playing within a few days (my download speeds utterly suck) and while it was still tremendous fun (first session was 12 hours straight with small breaks. Haven't done that in a game since ME3) there were issues there that just irked me. I'm waiting till the first DLC before i 100% my playthrough or start another.
Too late. They've given up on Andromeda. No more updates, tweaks or patches. No DLC.

Just the quick eye fix makes it looks so much better. Not the best, but much better than before.

THEY HAVE REAL EYES! It makes all the difference really. And less of that horrible makeup that looks like a rare skin disease is nice to see as well, now it looks more real
wow just a small change that makes a big difference.
I cant see the exact changes theyve made but it makes the animations look SO much better somehow.... it might just be cus its 1 am but...
with the darker shades at the top of the eyeball along with a gloss effect gives it the illusion of depth to their eyes as opposed to the soul-less stare of a ball with a 2D picture printed on it
Also, they slightly changed the animations. It's better, but there is still a lot of room to improve.
From what I can tell, all they did was darken the eyes a tiny bit, but it's enough to more accurately emulate real-life lighting conditions better.
Christopher Reimold Looks like there's better eyelid and muscle animation too. Previous Mass Effect games had much worse facial animation but the harsh lighting hid this, whereas the bright colors in Andromeda accentuates it. I also got emotional context from the voice acting in ME and not from the visuals.
The closer you get to more realistic facial animation, the closer you get to falling into the uncanny valley.
Eyes to be darkened, closed the eye lashes and in general made it blink more, but the dialog is still JR high bull.
A subtle changes made a hell of a difference. Now why they couldn't have fixed that before release is beyond me. Or you know, not released it until it was right as reason would dictate.

Thank god those eyes freaked me out. But even with all the glitches, i love Mass Effect Andromeda.

Looks like they've let the eyes close a bit...not everyone keeps their eyes wide open constantly. It helps a lot. Nice.

Besides from the glitches this game is good. Jaal is my favorite character from Andromeda.
The before was like "I SEE INTO YOUR SOUL" now its like "I like potato's". Mr Ducky is happy this update happened ^.^

Sara doesn't look terrified anymore! And maybe it's just me but Cora is somehow so much prettier with just the change with the eyes?????
The last face the female Ryder made at the end of the video is even MORE creepy to me, seriously, they made her eyes bigger and made it look like she's way too interested.
Still got this lurking in my PS4 library, but I'm not touching it until they finish scrubbing up the game with these post-launch patches.
Definitely a step in the right direction, though, and it matters to me that they actually seem to be listening to the fans on this.
If they can do more of what they did to Addison, I'll be truly impressed. Means I'm probably doing another playthrough at some point, not looking forward to all of the tons upon tons of side missions.
I always though Addison had just seen some serious shit and became detached. lol
finally that first woman doesn't look so "dead inside" and soulless anymore. It's not enough in my opinion, but definitely better.

Amazing what difference pupil dilation can make.
"Eyes are the mirror of the soul"...this has never been truer here. They make lack a bit more body language (and the writing is still pretty poor), but at least they bring a bit more emotion now.
And that's a great thing!

Must've called 1800-CONTACTS...no more SPECIAL EYES!
They also fixed Coras boneless arm slaunter when you first meet Tann and Addison
They also added a skip button when you're exploring planets from the tempest. no more waiting 30 seconds just to get to a single planet. just hit Tab and you're there in about 5 seconds
it's not 100% better but it is a huge improvement.
And now you've made Sara's eyes bigger.
People like to forget that Mass Effect 1 and 2 had awful facial animations too. The fact that they fixed the eyes though makes a huge difference, because usually I don't stare at someone's mouth when they talk.
Awful or not, they were better than this.

ME1 HAD MOST advanced facial animations in any big RPG until 2007. ME2 was great too. ME3 started to show little outdated mechanic.

master5 gaming and other stuff yep. mainly to fix facial animations and eye animations (which they improved). after that they'll probably fix some of the writing, and make it to where you can travel faster between locations without having to see a cutscene for every individual thing. also a possible story DLC. at least Bioware cares alot about the game that they willingly admitted that they fucked up, but are delivering their promise to fix their fuck ups to the community
so I saw all the videos about how bad the animation was, and then got the game after I heard it got patched, MAN what an improvement, the eyes darting around actually seems way more real now that the eyes are fixed, and I am so glad they fixed the other facial animations. Way more enjoyable of a game now since it's more immersive now.
I noticed it was different on my game. This makes me sad, every conversation was improved by my facial glitch. And trust me, my face was really glitchy.

They just added shadows to the top of the irises didn't they? Except Addison's scene - that is a huge change

from what i see they mainly just shaded the eyes since the eyes before had barely any shades and felt like they would pop up any minute

Why didn't they fix this in the first place? This is so minor tbh. They just changed eye textures and reduced mouth movements.
it's most noticeable on the one who looks like curie from fallout :P
and the fact the whole middle of face squishes in when she makes expressions like a deflated ball, that's not how face works

Hmmmm... 'Fixed' is such a subjective term. I think 'treated' is far more appropriate, don't you? Like one does to a rash, or an arrow in the face.
If they manage to sort out those animations I'd be more willing to buy the game. Usually I don't mind it, I mean Fallout 4 doesn't have the best facial animations either but they make up for it with great voice acting and storytelling. From what I've been seeing the voice acting here is subpar and needs better facial animations to make up for it.

I find the main characters are good actors, the extras in the game are much weaker in terms of quality, but they only appear for like a minute or two each so I don't care too much

+Seathe Linden I'd do that if I was romancing humans or asari. But with Jaal it's only my Ryder and she doesn't look that bad even with creepy eyes. So glad this patch is there just when I'm about to start a new romance!

At this rate it'll be a full game with all these updates by the time the sequel comes out.
By your logic, every single $60 AAA game is a beta when it comes out.
Then by my logic the $60 AAA game industry needs to do a better job at fixing their games before release. They should've delayed this thing for at least another 3-6 months. This is 2017 not wasting your staff and customers time by releasing a game with a vomit of combobulated scripting errors and faulty animations.

Honestly, the voice direction's a bigger issue than the writing imo.

"You're just a machine, and machines can be broken!"

The Mass Effect game's have had cringeworthy and cliched writing for years, because they are throwbacks to old sci fi, people have just taken the series way too seriously over the years, that and after game's like Witcher series it just more noticeable then before.
Doesn't excuse MEA's of course but it just something I've noticed over the span of Bioware game's having cliched and predictable writing over the years.
