    Yea PLB and InReach are almost always the same they both have GPS location now days very accurate. The only niche use difference is if your trapped in some tight steep gully and need a homing signal (like how they find kiwi radio tags) and few other bonus things, but it's all very niche on the big picture, which TBH no one on TA is really going to do, this reason is why a lot of DOC and Hunters carry both when they are off trail (Often PLB and GPS Map with InReach)...
    That hiker hunger sounds like it got to the point where he would happily have bag of table sugar for richie

      It will be interesting over the next few years as the iPhone and star link become more of a thing. Hiker hunger is real! For Richie is was sugar; for me it was everything else!! 😂

      @@freedom_on_the_trail I will still like radio tracker if I am doing something dumb, but 99% time my in reach is fine, and looking into the future any phone connectivity systems for SOS is so welcome , but will also come with few extra panic button presses... but that is always happened
